This weekend, Halle held an honorary chair at Jenesse Center's Silver Rose Awards luncheon in LA. The event, which raises awareness for domestic violence, included a fashion show with designers like Donna Karan and Christian Louboutin. All the proceeds went to the cause; one we all know is close to Halle's heart. She recently denied rumors that she herself was a victim of domestic violence, but her mother was battered by her father. It's no wonder then that Halle does so much charity work for the cause.

14it wasn't david justice who caused her to go deaf. it was someone else. on a side note, when david justice played in yankee stadium as a visiting player back in 1999, the fans taunted him by chanting "HAL-LE BER-RY"

16I am always glad to see a celeb using their status for good, and esp glad that Hallee can talk about this. I used to work with DV victims, and I know that it can be difficult to do. This issue is really overlooked in our society, and I am glad that HB is bringing it to light.

20I don't think she ever "whined" about DV, a deadly serious issue. If you lose respect for her let it be for Catwoman and not b/c she refuses to discuss her abusive past, which she probably still blames herself for. She talked about it before b/c it was already public knowledge (the posts are right: rumors were Wesley Snipes beat her so bad she's now deaf). Even then she tried to minimize it and swore she wouldn't name her batterer, although I think she should've (to alert other women to his violence). I hope her problems with men are now over.

More publicity stunts for her new movie--keeps changing her story about DJ www.smokinggun.com, he was abusive, he wasn't, it never happened,it did, he's really a nice guy? Which is it Halle? Says she's never been battered or never admitted whether it was Wesley Snipes or Christopher Williams--which she alluded to years ago and always wanted to talk about but didn't. Which is it Halle? If her hearing loss bit happened (by WS when he caught her with Spike Lee)isn't that being battered even if she didn't stay in the relationship? Which is it Halle?
