That's the dumbest Bond movie name ever.
Of course that issue of People was a top seller.
Michael Phelps is a great athlete, but I just can't get into his busted face.
And I'm still chuckling over Gwen Stefani's kid's name.
1Congrats Melanie "Sporty Spice" C. I kinda was feeling bad for her cause she was the only one without a baby.
I can't believe the Jolie-Pitt are as important as Sep. 11 attacks, JFK, and Princess Diana.
I'm starting to really like the name Zuma Nesta Rock.
Michael Phelps is a G!!!
2Totally agree with you Jude C. Very dumb movie title.
Michael Phelps busted face.
Of course, the almighty little ones will always make news. If People didn't have it available online the number of sold issues would've been higher.
3phelps and rice were looking cozy at a the speedo party, i saw it on yahoo. she was very touchy, and he was obviously enjoying her attention. good for him, about time he had a personal life.
4well the BRANGE always sell
congrast to sporty and of course gwen and fam
5Congrats to Mel C!!!! She's always been my fave Spice Girl!!!
6Michael & Stephanie Rice???? They DID look cozy at that party!
justingirl - very true.
Well, at least the Bond movie was delayed only a week unlike my Half-Blood Prince!
7Many ppl love the Jolie-Pitts so Im not surprised at all.
Congrats to sporty and Gwen!

woop
9the messiahs or any joliepitt news will sell the biological kids more then the adopted ones
10* People's Jolie-Pitt twins cover sold 2.6 million copies - OH MY GOD. It's really sad that these two LOSERS rate up with one of the greatest women of all time, the saddest moment in our nations history, and one of the greatest presidents we've ever had. Something is really really wrong with people in this country when a CELEBRITY gets that status.
* The new Bond movie, - Big deal. I haven't watched a bond movie since the 70's.
* Michael Phelps - I can't WAIT to read his book! And I'm glad he's got a girlfriend, maybe that will keep Lyndsay's claws OFF of him.
11Woop, I didn't realize you were a pothead fan too! (That's not a derogatory term, that's what my kids call the fans LOL)
I am so BUMMED that HBP isn't coming out until next summer. It makes it hard to go to opening night when it's in the summer!
12I'm not surprised the Jolie-Pitts sold as many mags. as they did hell I bought the damn thing just to shut all the naysayers up( first and only time tho )I'm glad I did.
I think Gwen & Ross screwed that kid with that name I rather take Apple Sunday than whatever that is. ^ _ ^
13Oh yuck, I can't believe that cover can actually be right up there with Sept11, Princess Diana and JFK...sad times when those 2 pretentious fakes can garner that kind of attention in this society... sad times
14Well Mykie7, there are a lot of people that DON'T think Brad and Angelina are losers if that many people bought the magazine.
Plus, from the same link
15"The baby photos also helped People extend its online reach to record levels. People.com recorded a record 6 million unique visitors for the first 24 hours the cover went online. Comparatively, people.com usually averages around 8.8 million uniques a month"
welcome to our community mostar
16why am i not surprised that the pictures helped sell so many copies of the magazine? oh well - i guess it's a good thing for People - but you do have to remember that it was a double issue...too...
i read about the movie opening a week later than planned. what's with the calendar shifting around so much? i can understand that the studios have a strategy with the whole opening day and making more money thing - but this is getting to be a lot of movies that we're hearing about
as for MP - is that smart to be making out with Stephanie? they did a whole profile on her and her relationship during the games, and well we know how that happened. oh well - it's like college or high school. you make out with people that you're hanging out with - and the swimmers all did hang out a lot together didnt they?
yay for mel c - that's GREAT NEWS - i think that a sporty spice baby is going to compliment the brood nicely!
that's good news about the non-heart attack. that's scary especially when you're on vacation out of the country.
what's with the odd names? come on gwen and gavin - you were doing SOO WELL with kingston. it was unique but not strange!
17Thank you Zahara Pitt-- I appreciate that
18
PinkP, Justingirl, Zahara and all the rest. Haven't holla at you girls for a while.
19The other popular People cover was about JFK Jr NOT the president. Regardless of what you feel about any of these people's reputations, it's not really a surprise that Brangelina rival the attention of tabloid and gossip favorites Diana and JFK Jr.
Mykie - yep, huge HBP fan. Sometimes my nerdicus ways do peek through my awesomely cool exterior.
20Oops, meant HP. Got half blood prince on the brain...
21
rosa hon
22I'm not surprised the Jolie-Pitt cover sold so many magazine copies. Whether you like it or not, you can't argue that they aren't the biggest celebrity couple in Hollywood even though they may not be everyone's favorite couple.
Congratulations to Mel C on her pregnancy! I'm surprised that she's pregnant, because she said she wanted to wait a little longer but I guess she wanted to throw the press off. Btw, I'm not necessarily against the idea of having kids outside of marriage, but have you realized that every single Spice Girl has gotten pregnant when they aren't married? It's just interesting... (Mel B got married to the father of her first child, Phoenix, while she was pregnant with her, while Victoria & David's oldest son Brooklyn was four or five months old at their wedding).
23They're just that spicy, californiagirlx!
24Hmmm...my grammar was awkward in the paragraph above. I need some more
Let's just say that Brangelina is one of the biggest
couples in Hollywood, although they may not be your favorites PinkPrincess, Mykie, etc. Who do you guys think should be the most famous/well-liked couple?
Oh and I don't mean to sound hypocritical about the whole "having kids out of wedlock" thing. Hello, one of my favorite couples in the world are not married and they have biological kids together (I know they have adopted kids too, but that's not my point in this case). I just don't like how it's an epidemic in Hollywood to have kids "out of wedlock" (sorry I don't know a better way to put it), it would be different if it was just a few people here and there. Sorry, just my opinion....
25LOL @ Jude C
26californiagirlx7 - Well, the spice girls were/are crazy rich so they could afford to have babies on their own. Girl power! Right?
27I'm all for Girl Power, Woop! I'm sorry if I come off as judgmental, it's just an observation
It just makes me sad that some people have lost hope in the ideals of marriage, or they think it's a much bigger committment to get married than having a baby when I think the
opposite is true. I have a couple friends who aren't sure if they ever want to get married or have kids, and that's totally fine with me even though I want those things. To each his own,
right?
28oh no, i wasn't accusing you of that. I was trying to find a spice girl explanation for it.
29WHATS WRONG ABOUT A COVER OF A -HAPPY MOMENT OF TWO FAMOUS PEOPLE- SELLS AS HIGH AS 3 SAD MOMENTS IN LIFE..
IF MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS TALK JUST ABOUT POSITIVE STUFF NOBODY WOULD BUY THEM..
AND THATS THE SAD THING..
30It's funny. Folks are saying Anjelina Jolie is self-serving for attracting the media with her charity work but Lady Di, whose been known to do that for doing the same thing (posing with AIDS patients and mother Theresa, raising awareness about landmines) is a great woman.
31A power couple with the whole package none there is no such thing in hollywood the couple to maybe come close is will and jada still questionable though, some can say gwen and gavin but no thank you daisy anyone, but as far as celebrity status brangelina they have the most controversy surronding them that's what sells
322.6 million copies, 4th highest ever and People thought it would sell more..interesting
I always thought Sporty was a lesbian, could Tom be Tomasina?
The thought of kissing Michael Phelps scares me...homeboy needs some serious dental/jaw work
33No harm done, Woop
jaxon - I thought Melanie C was a lesbian for a long time too. I guess she's been dating this guy for a long time though.
34You are so right Pink!
I think if there is a TOP celebrity couple, it should be one with no scandal in their past. Even my favorite couples don't fall into that category. I don't think there IS one that should be up there.
My whole point is that when we put this kind of celebrity up against the likes of 9-11, JFK and Princess Di, people should go "Oh wow, no WAY should a celebrity be linked with that!" I don't care WHO the celeb is, NONE Of them come even CLOSE to what those 3 things represent for America.
And Princess Di did those things because it was part of her JOB as Princess to do them. IN MY OPINION, none of what she ever did was for self promotion. If anything Diana wanted to be kept OUT of the limelight to live her life and raise her children.
35i always feel like she tries to be like Mother Theresa O_O
36witch makes her a wannabe .. I really dont like her ._.
Love her movies tho .. But trying to hard is pointless :S
Sorry guys -
I thought People magazine sold 2 million plus issues a week on an average issue... Guess that was wrong lol. How much do issues sell on average? I guess it's a bit odd to see the Jolie-Pitts right next to 9/11, Princess Diana's death, and JFK Jr's death just because those seem more important/notable in the long run. If you go to People.com you can view ALL their issues going back to the very first one - and not just the covers. Just click the archive link and click browse all coverse and you can read them all. I read some of them from the 70's and 80s and it is interesting to see how much the magazine and the reporting of celebrity culture have changed! Even from five years ago it's interesting to see what was being said then to people who are still famous now lol. I'd recommend looking there if you like that sort of thing.
I'm not surprised Phelps, Rice and other athletes are letting their hair down now and having fun. If they're single and want to migle why not? They've worked hard and might as well party hard too! I wouldn't be so quick to call her his GF though. She just got out of a relationship with Aussie swimmer Eamon Sullivan. I believe they announced their split on FACEBOOK a week before the Olympics began... Not much time to start a relationship between Phelps and Rice lol. Me thinks they are good friends and decided to celebrate together for a few days
I'm sure they aren't the only ones doing it... I would bet there are many, many interesting
tales of what goes down in the village lol.
Congrats to Mel C on her baby! Babies, babies everywhere! I can hardly keep track anymore lol.
37I agree Californiagirl, again!! I don't like the whole baby, marriage maybe, maybe not, situation. I like it the old school way, marriage, baby, then divorce.
38I can't stand the term, baby mama, baby father. It's ridiculous!
39Mykie - You know the things you believe about Angelina? Many, many people feel that way about Diana. It's well known that Diana was VERY media savvy and she knew how to manipulate the media to suit her needs. I'm in no way minimizing her humanitarian work and the values she passed onto her sons but please don't pretend she was unaware of her power with the media and didn't use it to her advantage.
Why did JFK Jr.'s death sell so many magazines? Sure, he was hot and did his part for public service but I don't know that he himself represents so so much for America. What did he contribute that warrants such reverence?
40John-John was cute, first and foremost, and he was the son of JFK. Everybody loved him and was heartbroken when he died.
41wadewifey3 - I don't disagree. I know why his death got so much attention and people were upset. "America's son" I get it. But is there anything he did, other than being born into American royalty, to put him in a category no celebrity is worthy?
42Woop- I don't think so. He was just the son of murdered president. Still he was a celebrity no? Diana also is a celebrity. Not actors but celebrity still. Their love lives and their looks filled many pages of tabloids like any celebrities.
Diana was fully aware of a celebrity status and the attention she got. She used it when she needed it.
43Okay I gotta retract my statement. I misread Pop's post, and you'll note in MY post I said "JFK". I thought it said the PRESIDENT's death. Not his son. He shouldn't be top either, other than I understand America's infatuation with him because he WAS JFK's son.
You're 100% right woop, thanks for pointing that out, even though you didn't do it intentionally. LOL
I was about to come unglued thinking you were saying JFK didn't do anything for America. I was all WHA...
44Oh yes, and I didn't say she wasn't AWARE of it, I just said she didn't LOOK for it. She used it to her advantage YES, but I think had she had a CHOICE in the matter, she would have been a much more private person. Instead, she made the best of a bad situation and used the media to her advantage. After all, look what they did to HER.
45Hater by Maya Angelou
A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends their time
trying to make you look small so they can look tall.
They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever Good
enough!
When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters...
That's why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and
your dreams, because some folk can't handle seeing you blessed...
It's dangerous to be like somebody else...
If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what
He gave them! Right? You never know what people have gone through to
get what they have...
The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they don't
know my story... If the grass looks greener on the other side of the
fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too!
We've all got some haters among us!
People envy you because you can:
Have a relationship with God
Light up a room when you walk in
Start your own business
Tell a man / woman to hit the curb (if he / she isn't about the Right
thing). Raise your children without both parents being in the home.
Haters can't stand to see you happy; Haters will never want to see you
Succeed; Haters never want you to get the victory; most of our haters
are people who are supposed to be on our side.
How do you handle your undercover haters?
You can handle these haters by:
1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are *(VERY
IMPORTANT!!)
2. Having a purpose to your life? Purpose does not mean having a job.
You can have a job and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear
sense of what God has called you to be. Your purpose is not defined by
what others think about you.
3. By remembering what you have is by divine prerogative and not Human
manipulation.
Fulfill your dreams! You only have one life to live...when its your time
to leave this earth, you 'want' to be able to say, 'I've lived my life
and fulfilled 'my' dreams,... Now I'm ready to go HOME! When God gives
you favor, you can tell your haters, 'Don't look at me...Look at Who is
in charge of me...'
Pass this to all of your family & friends who you know are not hating on
you including the person who sent it to you. If you don't get it back,
maybe you called somebody out! Don't worry about it, it's not your
problem, it's theirs! Just pray for them, that their life can be as
fulfilled as yours!
Watch out for Haters....................BUT most of all don't become a
HATER!

"Never make someone a priority when they only make you an option!!!"
46Juicylemon - well, he did try acting for a bit.
Mykie - I thought you were doing shorthand or something and leaving off the jr and I was like, "Really? JFK jr?"
As for Diana, I understand that's how you and many others see her. Just saying that she wasn't so innocent with the media as we know Angelina is not. I think it's interesting to note that Angelina supporters also justify her use of the media by making it an advantage for her - that it's better that she use the inevitable media focus on her family to bring attention to her causes and the betterment of others. It's a'ight though. Potayto, potahto.
47Isn't what all celebrities have to do? Making the best of the media-attention they get?
48IMO,If it's okay for Diana to spill the beans on her failed marriage and other private matters -which garnered her a lot of sympathies-
and using her fame for awareness for her philantropic works -Yes, it's partly her job as a princess. But she took it in a way that no other royalties has done before. - Well it should be OK for all other celebs to do so.
"Instead, she made the best of a bad situation and used the media to her advantage."
Mykie, I think one could argue that Angelina does that too. I love Princess Di (my parents even cried when she died...forreals), but she did use the media to her advantage as well. Diana was a great woman, but she wasn't necessarily the saint that people made her out to be (I know you didn't use the word exactly, but others have).
wadewifey3 -
to your first comment. I know I miss the days of MARRIAGE, then baby, then
divorce
49i always thought mel c was gay
