Do You Think You'll Warm Up to the Name Zuma?

ICYMI, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale yesterday welcomed their second son, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. It's a little out there, but supposedly they took the first name from the beach in Malibu where Gavin had a life-changing moment. Nesta is the original first name of Bob Marley, and Rock pretty much speaks for itself. Even if you're not loving it right now, do you think you'll warm up to the name Zuma?

I think it's a little sad for the child when parents give them weird names almost just for the sake of being different and unique. I mean, they honestly were in the hospital and said "Zuma Nesta Rock ... yeah, that has a nice ring to it."

I won't warm up to that, but I admire Gwen for her originality. He'll be the first guy with that name and that will probably help him have a stronger personality.

    Luv ya Gwen!! xo, Nicholette

I hate the name. I just imagine a little kid in school, having to respond to "Zuma" for attendance check... ugh.

It's cool. Stars always come up with something different. I wish my name was different, unlike thousands of other people. Why not? Think of some other celebrity kid names!

I feel sorry for the kid. I guess Nesta is for Bob Marley and I knew that Zuma is the beach. Gwen is from Orange County which is surfing country. Maybe they'll give him a nickname that's better.

Maybe...I think the name would've suited a girl a little bit better. Of course, they don't have a choice in the gender of their child, but I think they could've chosen a different name. Zuma might grow on me, Nesta is alright because it honors Bob Marley, but Rock is just ridiculous.

P.S. On another note, I don't Gwen & Gavin would've picked "Marley" as a middle name because that it is Zahara's middle name and they are good friends with the Jolie-Pitts.

Zuma: It reminds me a bit of Uma Thurman (very feminine to me). It reminds me of the name Xenu (Zuma sounds perfect for an alien's name).

    Nesta: reminds me of NESTLÉ.

I'd like it more if the baby was a girl, but it doesn't really bother me as much as other baby names. It doesn't seem like the name was made different just to be different. There was actually thought behind the name.

instead of naming him after a beach, maybe they should've named him after one of their fathers

it's just a little too ridiculous of a name

Nesta is Bob's middle name not his first name... Robert Nesta Marley.. They(Gavin and Gwen) both love reggae music and Jamaica hence the name Kingtson for their first son. Now Zuma? different yes...but don't think it should be for a boy..hopefully they will call him Nesta!!!

Zuma sounds more like a girls name then a boy. Can you imagine when he's 35 years old? Unless he becomes a rockstar or something. Don't like it and probably never will. But to each his own, I guess.

no, which i'm sure will have the family very upset, lol. there must be some kind of inside celeb competition on naming your child, where the cool kids all have weirdo names. honestly, it sounds like a good name for a puppy.

    desertkow,

    as per Wikipedia:
"Bob Marley was born in the small village of Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica as Nesta Robert Marley. A Jamaican passport official would later swap his first and middle names."

It'll be like Zowie Bowie and the minute he's old enough to change it, poor Zuma will.

btw, the worst celebrity baby name is still Peanut Rademacher - come on, General Hospital actors totally count as celebrities!

I think of that terrible drink "Zima"and Nestle. They should have given the kid at least one normal middle name so he could use that, but all the names are bad!

Poor kid. He'll sit around with Dweezil and Moon Unit one day and talk about how they all got screwed.

It sounds like something you'd name a dog. The poor kid doesn't even have a decent middle name to go by.
