Jennifer Lopez All in Red to Honor Children's Defense Fund

Jennifer Lopez was red from head to toe in her conservative sheath dress in Denver during the DNC last night. She was out for an event at the art museum to honor Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children's Defense Fund. As a new mom herself, the topic is probably more even important to her than being in town for the convention. The celebrities have been all over Denver this week, and last night's big speeches did not disappoint, including the surprise appearance on stage by Obama himself. Tonight is the marquee event, and no matter the A-list names in the audience, all eyes will be on Barack as he takes the stage.

well it's going to be a MADHOUSE when i fly in tonight huh? i didn't realize that the big event thing was tonight - but i guess you can't really expect otherwise since the convention ends tonight/tomorrow.

oh well - regardless - Jenifer looks GREAT there - and i'm glad that she's supporting the CDF - that's a wonderful cause and it's something that's probably more relevant now to her than ever before.

she looks beautiful, but I'm not too crazy about the two-tone hair..is like really dark underneath and that weird yellowy color on top.

I give credit to any woman who works hard to regain her pre-baby body. But this is almost unnatural. Clearly, JLo's #1 priority is JLo. She's all about being fabulous. Granted, nobody wants to look like crap, babies or not. But there is a limit. Nannies or no nannies, don't you want to spend time with your children instead of constantly working out and fabulizing yourself????

IM SO PROUD OF HER! Love

DENVER, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Capitol File Magazine, Viacom and Jennifer Lopez, in cooperation with an honorary host committee, hosted a private reception to recognize Marian Wright Edelman, president of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and lifelong advocate for disadvantaged Americans. Ms. Lopez and the event hosts honored Mrs. Edelman's efforts to provide a strong, effective voice for all the children of American who cannot vote, lobby or speak for themselves.

"Judging from her long and successful record, Jennifer Lopez is truly a hero to all of us. She is truly the American dream," said US Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO).

"The world is a different place for me now that I've had children. I want to set an example for my children on how to live their lives. You have to instill that charitable, philanthropic spirit. Be loud. Vote for your children. Vote for your nation." said Jennifer Lopez
"If I had a dollar every time someone said, 'Don't do it, Jennifer,' " when it comes to starting a charity, "I could provide health care for every man, woman and child in this country." And, "Yes it is hard, but it takes only one person to say 'I don't care how hard it is, I'm going to do it, going to see it through.' said Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez was on hand to honor Marian Wright Edelman on Wednesday at the Colorado Art Museum. Meanwhile, her ex-better-half Ben Affleck was also pursuing personal causes in Denver, playing poker to raise money for paralyzed vets on Tuesday night. Between hands, we asked if he might get in touch with Mrs. Marc Anthony. "I would love to give you an answer," he grinned, "but I'm too selfish."

Her hair needs layers - it's way too heavy at the bottom. That said, she looks stunning, man she has great legs. She looks really fresh and happy, actually, that's one of the first things I noticed about the pics. It's nice.

(And I agree, that pasty/peachy gloss she often wears isn't very flattering; however, she's so lovely she kinda pulls it off anyhow. Remember in the early 00s when she had the coolest makeup artist? She was always flawless. What happened to him/her?)

I've been watching the DNC and I realize there are lots of celebs there, but I'm glad the media isn't focusing on them. Instead they're giving the spotlight to the real "celebrities" like Obama, Clinton and Biden. I also love all of the shots of the "real" people in the audience. It's been very moving so far.

They're focused on all "celebrities" just these celebrities happen to be political. Sorry to be so cynical, but I do NOT want hollywood in the white house, and I'm so afraid that's what we'll get with Barack in office.

Her make-up is flawless, her face looks beautiful. The dress is pretty but feel bad that you can see stains. Something about her hair, it just looks too heavy and I think she's better suited to a darker colour, this one looks so unnatural.

Tia, there's no need to be such a pain about it. Just like you're entitled to be snarky, I'm entitled to feel that if Barack gets into the white house, Celebrities will be there on a regular basis. He seems to be courting this support and it's ridiculous.

This is by no means an endorsement of McCain, I don't think he'd be much better, but he certainly doesn't have the "celebrity" angle and for that I'm grateful.

Sure I can be a pain. You are holding something that is clearly and inevitably out of Obama's hands against him. As I said before, I proudly wear my Obama paraphernalia as much as I possibly can, have a sign in my front yard, a bumper sticker on my car, and donate to his campaign. What is the difference between what I'm doing and that of a "celebrity"? I find it insulting that you want people that happen to be "stars" to keep their candidate choice on the hush, hence the "P.I.T.A" response.

Do you know my reasons for that Tia? Because they're actually very well founded. And yes, I DO hold barack's CAMPAIGN responsible for not putting the kibosh on it, it's their responsibility.

It's different for you, because you're a private citizen and you (I hope) have done your research and haven't made your decision based on which celebrity is endorsing or not endorsing someone. That's what SHOULD happen.

The fact is when a celebrity endorses someone, a couple of things happen. 1) people that may have supported him won't, because they don't like the celebrity. Again, they don't know any of the issues, and this is the WRONG reason not to vote for someone. 2) they WILL support a candidate because their FAVORITE celebrity does. Again, they know nothing of the issues in any way, and again this is the wrong way to elect a president. It should be about the issues, not which celebrity endorsements they receive.

This country is in TROUBLE and we need a president with EXPERIENCE to help us out of it. I don't know that either of these two candidates HAS the right experience and it worries me for this country and the direction in which we're headed.

At least if Hilary had been the candidate, we'd get someone with experience. Yeah, the celebrity angle would still be there, but so would experience and that would be better than what is currently out there.

And if you're insulted by my beliefs, then maybe you should ignore my posts. In fact, please do from now on.

So what it boils down to is that you are another angered Hilary supporter? Have you learned nothing from the DNC...nothing.

And I have done my homework, and I also will NOT hold anything against Barack Obama because celebrities proudly support him, just as I won't NOT support a celebrity's work that I may like just because they support John McCain or any other candidate out there. Celebrities are private citizens just as you and me. Yes they work in front of a camera and YES, they have to cater to the American public to see their work, but at the end of the day they are private citizens whose vote COUNTS!!!

If you can't base your decision on a candidate because of the celebrities that support them, then voila sounds like a personal problem. If you can't separate supporters from issues, then again voila personal problem.

Sorry, but I don't AND won't ignore posts. When I see something I disagree with, I'm going to say something about it.
