Invesco Field at Mile High was full of excited supporters out to watch Barack Obama's historic speech last night at the finale of the DNC in Denver. As expected, some big names took the stage and their seats as the Democratic presidential candidate accepted the party's nomination and gave his speech — Citizen was there, check out her thoughts on the scene! Obama wasn't the only rock star in the house as John Legend and Sheryl Crow both performed, as did Jennifer Hudson who sang the national anthem. Fergie wore her ridiculous sunglasses, while Jessica Alba and Cash looked proud to be there even if Honor is a bit too young for the actual event. The journey to election day will only get harder from here for Obama, but it looks like his Hollywood fans are ready to do what it takes to lend their support.

2yesterday changed my outlook on obama
did anyone see that onsie a baby was wearing it read my mamma for obama
3what a moving speech!
4Last night was AMAZING!
5Ugh. Jessica Alba is so annoying! She makes me like the dems even less.
6O M G
7I loved every minute of last night!!!! It was truly amazing, and no matter where you fall, it was indeed history in the making!!!
8vespa you shouldnt allow a celeb to determine which party you like and dislike
9Amazing speech!
10pink is so right Vespa. Ignore the celebs that are involved. It's hard, I know, but we have to pay attention to the issues.
11history in the making..so true tia
12mykie that is why it almos tannoys me so many celebs are involved. its not a rock concert- its determining who leads our country!
13Exactly megIn! Thus the new avatar. It cut off the part of the picture though that says "Oprah likes him, so I do too!" It's not a good way to elect a president.
14Not all democrats are looking at the celebs involved in a campaign to determine our next president, that assumption would be underminding our intelligence.
I personally didnt even watch this yesterday, but read the speech online.
15The speech could have been better, the convention seemed like a lot of fun though. Michelle, Malia, and Sasha looked beautiful. I wasn't feeling Stevie Wonder's new song.
16i was MOVED!
17although i do agree with the whole celebrity thing...
18i took a nap and missed it. lol Hence why I didnt comment on anything but Sheryl. I will be watching the speech later today though. Marni7, where did you read it?
19Marni, I know not all do, but sadly there are way too many that DO use that as their reasoning.
UNFORTUNATELY, (And this includes me to some extent) our country has become kind of "run" by the celebrities. Just about everything that happens has to have a celebrity comment. Sometimes it's a good thing (9-11, Katrina etc) because it brings it home to everyone, but other times it's the worst possible thing in the world. Most celebrities who claim to be in support of this or that are doing it to better themselves and this comes at the expense of the rest of us. More often than not their reasons are self serving and muddy the waters for what the TRUE issues are. It's sad, but it's the state that we're in right now. I mean, I follow the political issues but when I come across something written by a celebrity, 9 times out of 10 I ignore it because I don't know if it's true or serving the celebrity. If everyone did that all the time, it wouldn't be so concerning to me.
We need a good, solid president that people can trust. I seriously hope that ONE of these candidates can do that, but so far I just don't see it. I will support our president, because he is OUR PRESIDENT, whether he's who I vote for or not, but I hope that he's elected for the right reasons.
20Personal problems are abounding!!!
21I thought the speech was very moving. Didn't like Stevi's new song but loved it when he performed "Signed sealed delivered."
22hey brian, i read it here:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080829/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_obama_text
23Did you even watch any parts of the 4 day convention?
24Mykie, random question..
25If Obama wins the election will you assume that he only did so because of his "celebrity connections" or because he is actually worthy of proving his leadership qualities to the majority of the voters?
not meant as an attack, just curious what you would think
Thanks Marni!
26I'm so upset I totally missed it.
27John McCain announced his running mate Sarah Palin
28I could care less about the celebs, they have a right to be there just as anyone else. I am not sure why anyone would be distracted by this. Nor do I care about who a celeb endorses.
29On the flip side, it was an amazing speech and a great way to wrap up what was, imo, an amazing DNC. The most inspired I have seen in years.
Thank you, badkitty....thank you!!!!
30this is a moot point...we'll see what happs in November...people don't have to give long reasons for this and that, just vote...I think the world is run by hollywood b/c we've allowed it (buying the rags, sites like this etc etc) so welcome to the monster we've created
31Didn't take it that way at all Marni, it's a great question. The answer is I don't honestly know.
It's just like the Bush/Gore win. Did Bush REALLY win, or didn't he? We won't ever REALLY know for sure, as much as so many want to say they DO know, there are facts to support BOTH of them winning.
Same thing here. Just like I don't know for certain that people who vote for McCain are doing it because they think he's better, I won't know that people are voting for barack because of celebrities. The fact is though that it skews things, and doesn't really give a good picture.
32and at the end of the day who CARES why SOMEBODY is voting for their choice, it's nobody's business but that voter. The real question that needs to be asked of the self is why you're voting for WHO YOU CHOOSE to vote for (but clearly an answer to be kept to the self). Everything else is of unimportance.
33It's one of those things where you almost wish uneducated (on the views and issues) voters would not vote and that people who were educated did vote. But unfortunately, people can and will vote regardless of what the reason is or why they felt it was the best decision. What's even worse, some people might actually not vote for Barack because Fergie was there.
My father is an extreme republican and gets the letters from Bush and everything. He for the first time, is thinking differently about things. Maybe change is what we need. I think to me, if the democratic nominee can make my father think even a little differently, I'm impressed.
I just read the speech and got tears in my eyes 1 time and hair stood up 2 times. And that's just from reading it. Pretty amazing speech.
34The more celebs push all this Obamaness on America the silent conservatives will lean on McCain. Hollywood does not rule America but Christians and Evangelicals.
35Just because the media shows Obama as the hero does not mean America feels the same way. The media is sooooo onesided lefties but its always a reversal of events.
Agreed Brian!
36My boyfriend's grandfather is a republican and he is even thinking differently now..and his own wife (who is a democrat) wasnt able to change his mind before..just a thought.
Yah Marni- I think that there is something big happening. Even if McCain wins, I think that things will be done differently for some reason. But this is the first time that I have been actually interested in knowing all the views and deciding who I agree with more and making my decision off of that rather than just picking the guy running against my dad's choice
37you cry baby you brian lol i did too just a tear
38i didnt cry! just welled up! jeez. lol
I'll tell you the part: (clears throat)
"But I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the naysayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me. It's been about you."
I just think thats such a great line.
39Bri, you're right, I have been a republican my WHOLE LIFE, and the current administration has opened my eyes and made me see that it just ISN'T about party lines, it's about issues. That is the one GOOD thing to come out of the Bush administration.
As I've said MANY times before I don't know who I'm voting for, but this election, for me at least, will be based 100% on the issues and who I believe will do the job best, NOT on a party line.
Let me say that just because I don't like the fact that Obama and his campaign are allowing these celebrities to speak on their behalf, does NOT mean I won't vote for him. That would be very hypocritical of me, since what I've been saying all along is that celebrities shouldn't influence who we vote for.
Just had to say that before someone twists my words around.
40you know what made me change my mind about him while seeing him speak i told my fiance look at him he is honestly speaking from his heart he wants a change, not like the others that go back to their flash cards to remember what sounds good what people want to hear with a blank face, there was several times it look like he wanted to shed a tear but he was strong, btw i have always and will always be a democrat, i feel republicans are there to make the rich richer and the poor poorer, and we should all be equal
41i agree with what mykie said earlier and what brian said too, yes i just wish people would vote on the issues- people who have really studied the candidates and their platforms. i haven't. i am uneducated and i admit it- if i had to vote today i couldn't. i need to do some learning in the next few months. but i do agree the celeb endorsements of obama have become somewhat of a turn off. i'm not saying i wouldn't vote for him if i felt he was the better leader, but still it just leaves me a bit unsettled.
42Good for you meg! DO the research, and KNOW your candidate. You can't go wrong for your choice if you do that! YAY FOR EDUCATION LOL
And I don't doubt for one iota that he MEANS it when he says he wants change pink, I've never doubted that. What worries me is if he has the know-how and experience to pull it off.
43Oops, hit submit too soon
I wanted to also say that the last thing we need is another inexperienced person in the white house.
44Is there anywhere where I can watch this speech, cos it sounds amazing, and even though I'm not American, I want Obama to win!
45My husband kept watching it over and over and over again last night on Barackobama.com xoso, which is where I will watch it tonight myself now that the convention is over.
I look forward to watching the people involved with politics give their opinions, and being able to skip over all the celebrity falderal.
46That should have read "I look forward to watching the people involved with politics give their speeches," instead of opinions. My bad.
47Last night was just an incredible moment in history. I am so proud that Barack has come so far against all odds, and I feel vindicated that I have supported him from the beginning. though I am a registered Democrat, I also do not plan to vote along party lines and I will vote for who I think is best based on the issues at hand (in this case I think its Barack). Case in point: And I know I may get flack from some liberal Dems for saying this, but Ronald Reagan ranks as one of my favorite presidents of all time and he was the one of the most conservative Republicans we have ever had. Anyway, congrats to Barack! Here's hoping that we see you in the White House!
48P.S. I don't listen to who celebrities are voting for either, I liked him before this "Obama or die" crap.
49I tried to put the link to the video up but it was not posted.
