Britney did look great! I wished she would have performed but I guess she really didn't have anything to promote so she might as well wait until then. This was the worst VMA show I've seen. It was so boring and Russell Brand wasn't a good choice for the host. The set also looked cheap and it looked like they had to cram people in there.

So happy for Brit Brit. Jordin Sparks can suck it. LOL. Russell Brand was sooooo funny and his jokes about the Jonas Brothers were the funniest of the night. I mean give me a freaking break, its great they choose not to have sex but those who choose to have sex aren't sluts. Give me a break. If done right and safely, sex is fantastic. Some people like to have sex. Its natural and human. Just be safe. Jeez. LOL. Russell and I need to meet up one day.

Britney looked beautiful. Christina's performance was lame. Rihanna just shouldnt sing live. Russell was annoying as crap. Overall it was totally boring and the most anticlimactic VMA I think I've ever seen. Thumbs down.

Overall the show was low budget and looked bad. The choice for the host was insulting and I will never see one of his movies ever ... go back to England, we don't want you here.

I will admit i almost turned the channel when Russel started his speech about Obama and Palin and Bush. I found it obnoxious!

I watched a nano second of the VMA's and saw Brit win the first award...my husband and I said to the TV "aww, Brit, keep it together"....X-Tina's performance must've sucked b/c I have been reading that...saw Kate Perry singing in the corner lmao...why did they let her do "like a virgin" and her song during commercial breaks, lmao...

Good thing Pink had taped her nipples, huh? Maybe her shirt shouldn't have been open that much.

Oh, and the beginning of Christina's performance was stupid. You could barely see her inside that glass wall-elevator thing.

I cringed every time Russell Brand spoke. He was so offensive and not funny. I'm a Democrat and I couldn't even stand his Republican-bashing!

Bill Cosby use to say only desperate Comedian's have to use vulgar language to get laughs....that's how I felt last night listening to Russell Brand. Was he so desperate that all he could give was Bush jokes? They are so boring. I guess if that's all he's got - that's all he's got.

I was surprised at how small and cheap looking the venue was.I figured with it being the 25th one they would have had a much better show.But I haven't watched this crap in years so maybe its been crappy for awhile!

I actually thought it was much better than last year. Russell Brand, whoever he is, was hilarious! Same type of humor that Chris Rock has, and most eveyrone LOVED Rock. I hate that just because these "kids" chose to tell the world that they're pure, we have to hear it, who cares? Why do we need to know about their choices? Is it going to affect me or my decisions? Not in the slightest. BE UNIQUE people, make decisions based on how YOU feel and how you believe, not how someone else feels or believes.

Aww you guys I liked Russell Brand. I guess some of his jokes were a little vulgar but overall I think that he was all about positivity to those who deserve it. I guess people who are all about negativity don't like that free-spirited approach... But I did! I was a little bummed because watching Russell got me in such a good mood what with everything he was saying, how he was basically praising everyone there... and then right afterward everyone bashed him! That was a rude awakening to my positive mood. AMEN to everyone who said that ppl who have sex aren't sluts!!

Oh Lily I loved the VMAs. Best one in years. I loved it. I loved how it opened and I loved Russell, the aweomest host ever and I loved Kanye West closing the show with that song, Love Lockdown, I have to have it. OMG!!!! The performances were awesome...expect the Jonas Brothers. They suck. Great night though.

It was so nice to see Britney in a pretty dress! Shocking, really. She looked great and grateful.

Rihanna's inability to dance is painful to watch. Her stage presence is pretty awful, it was uncomfortable watching her sort-of contort to Disturbia. Weird.

Also I LOVED all the performances!! Pink was awesome.. I love how Rihanna ALWAYS performs live.. I don't think I've ever seen her lip-synching.. which is brave and amazing on her part! LOVE ANGELINA i love you lol!!! We should start a fan club haha!!

Judging by the pictures I'm so glad I didn't watch. So Britney won moonmen the same year Susan Lucci is on Dancing With the Stars...no whiff of obviousness there.

Russell basically said they should use their celebrity to sleep around, i think that is what she was getting at.

I thought that the show was so bad!! Te comments that Brand made me want to send him right back to the UK!! It is one thing if you do not like the President but it is another to stand up there and make fun of kids for standing up for something that they believe in. He is a stupid jerk who needs to shut up and stick to worrying about his own country!!

I think it's clear that Britney's record company (or someone) paid MTV for some publicity 'cause there's no way that video won that many awards. That's a joke. While I agree Brit looked better, she still has the vacant staring into space thing going on. I'm not sure she's ever going to be 'normal' again.

Pity or not, I think it was great that she got a standing ovation. People can trash her all she wants but the girl has been suffering from a serious mental illness and its good to see people acknowledge that. There is such a stigma with mental illness and being "crazy" and to see someone getting support publicly will hopefully speak to those less famous who are suffering from the same illness or know someone who does. The more people acknowledge it and become open to discussing it and learning about it, the more people there are that will get help and a proper diagnosis.

I hope that one day she speaks more openly about it because so many people don't understand the disorder. She can put a name and face to those who suffer silently cause they're ashamed.
