Anne Hathaway looks regal on the October cover of W magazine, but inside she gives the first peek into her fragile state talking about everything that happened in the wake of her breakup with Raffaello Follieri. The ex in question, Raffaello, pleaded guilty to all 14 counts against him today in an attempt to get less jail time and will be sentenced on Oct. 3, just the latest in the ongoing saga. Anne's interview took place three weeks after her breakup and his arrest, and while the actress is far from over it, she seems ready to emerge stronger than ever. Here are some highlights:
- On when the news broke about Raffaello: "Right now I don’t have the wherewithal to be anything except professional. As soon as I found out about the arrest, I had to get on a plane to Mexico to do a press tour for Get Smart. And then I spent a week in shock at a friend’s house. And then I had to go back and do more press, and I haven’t stopped since."
- On moving on: "I was up in Nyack [New York] the other night visiting Jonathan [Demme] and his family. They all had so much going on. And I just started to cry because I thought, I don’t have a life right now. And I haven’t for some time, and I just haven’t noticed."
- On her friends' support: "It’s a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. One said, ‘Go stay at my house.’ And Steve Carell stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question [about it]. He said, ‘At some point you’re going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don’t have to do it this week. I’ll take care of anything that comes your way.’ I’ve been shown such kindness. Not everyone gets that. A lot of people go through tough times alone."
It's heartbreaking to read Anne's words talking about the ongoing situation, but at least it sounds like she has an excellent support system ready to help her get through it. Hopefully soon enough we'll see that famous smile back on her face as she moves on.

26Anne is such a classy lady. I think her questions were succint, answered the questions but didn't give away too much. She just amazes me. Whoever thought that geeky little girl on Princess Diaries would come to THIS.
My heart goes out to her too, but I LOVE Steve Carrell even MORE after reading this. He let a reporter have it during the press run too, I remember reading it and going "YEAH! GIT' EM STEVE!"

28Either they had the most shallow relationship we have ever seen, or she knew EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING. They were together for 4 years!!! There is no innocent Anne here... SHE KNEW! And because she is hollywood royalty, she gets to pretend she knew nothing.

Crooks like Follieri are so smooth, they can gloss EVERYTHING over and make it all look real if they have enough money. And he did, HE STOLE IT.

I almost cried reading about how Steve Carell was being protective of her. That's so sweet!
34Her love for her ex hasn't vanished because he seems to be invovled in criminal things. Love and criminality are two different things. She loved the good side of him. He surprised her with a side that is criminal. Unfortunately, she has to try and pretend she is getting over this because of her career.
Think about it, suppose you had a child and he was invoved in criminal things, would you stop loving him because of that? No.
The same way, Anne is trying to go on, but she still loves him. Though being invovled with him right now is not the right move for her career. They may be able to get back together once his legal woes are over.
By the way, these pics are not my favorites of her.

38These pictures are sooooo gorgeous.. the lips and especially the eyes.. i could do without the braided bun, but then again, it draws the focus to her face. I might just buy this magazine.
Also... leave her be.. we dont know if she did or didnt know. Either way it goes, she loved that man and it's going to be hard for her to move on regardless of what he did.
39she's been on a lot of covers this month and i guess it's good for her although it means that a lot of her 'dirty laundry' is being aired out. i hope that she comes out on top for all of this and that she's able to find someone to be with again that she trusts. being with the con artist for as long as she was - well that has to hurt! she's given him so much money and that's something that she won't get back along with the years/energy and emotions that she invested.
at least we get to see her in some pretty gowns!
