Lindsay Lohan and Samatha Ronson made another whirlwind trip to the Toronto Film Festival where Samantha spun Friday for the second weekend in a row before the girls headed back to LA and LL was already on her way out on Sunday. It's a mystery how Lindsay is still standing and smiling — it's exhausting just thinking about her schedule — she still found time to talk politics on her blog. Lindsay and Samantha collaborated for this weekend's diatribe against Sarah Palin. Here is some of what they had to say:
I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.
I couldn't be more supportive of a woman in office, but let's face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.
Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?
I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be... Also interesting that she got her passport in 2006.. And that she is not fond of environmental protection considering she's FOR drilling for oil in some of our protected land.... Well hey, if she wants to drill for oil, she should DO IT IN HER OWN backyard. This really shows me her complete lack of real preparation to become the second most powerful person in this country.
Hmmmm-All of this gets me going-Fear, Anxiety, Concern, Disappointment, and Stress come into play...
Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?

I know that the most important thing about this election is that people need to exercise their right to vote, regardless of their choice... I would have liked to have remained impartial, however I am afraid that the "lipstick on a pig" comments will overshadow the issues and the fact that I believe Barack Obama is the best choice, in this election, for president...
Palin's Desire to "save and convert the gays"-really??
I feel it's necessary for me to clarify that I am not against Sarah Palin as a mother or woman.
Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies... And its frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all of that.
Oh, and...Hint Hint Pali Pal- Don't pose for anymore tabloid covers, you're not a celebrity, you're running for office to represent our, your, my COUNTRY!

Samantha- "I love this country- however i wasn't born here and don't have the right to vote- so i beg of you all to really do your research and be educated when you cast your vote this coming november.... and if you're in doubt- vote for obama! Mainly because if she gets elected my green card probably won't get renewed!!!"

29Palin's been involved in politics since 1992. Where is LL getting this "4 years ago she had aspirations to be a television anchor"? Up until June '05 she was a director of a 527 group, and then she ran for governor.
Also, as far as gay rights are concerned, as governor she actually vetoed legislation that would have prevented the state from providing benefits to same-sex partners. (Though, she is against gay marriage. But so are a lot of people, on both sides of the aisle, sadly.)
And the magazine cover thing? Um, Barack Obama has been all over US Weekly! I think it's ridiculous, too, but it's not as though Palin was the first one to do it!
Mainly, you don't have to agree with Sarah Palin's beliefs, but don't act like she doesn't have legitimate experience and don't villify her for things that do not matter in the slightest. Focus on the issues. And try reading a book, Lindsay, before trying your hand at political commentary again.

43Passport issue is obviously referencing the importance of a soon to be world leader's knowledge of the world. Without a passport you can't really fly and leave North American.

1. It says a lot of things in the bible are wrong. But I think that you have to take what the book says and implement it into your life. I was born gay. Can't help, wont and cant change it. Truth. I refuse to believe that I will be sent to Hell because of the way I love anymore than the way you love. And I am a Christian so wrap your little mind around that.
2. Separation of Church and State. Period. American basic standing. Palin is all about bringing those together based on her stance on certain things. Their ticket is scary.
3. It's ignorant to say that Palin and McCain are against gay marriage anymore than Obama is. Not one of them is going to Amend the constitution to ban it but they are not going to make it legal either. It's going to more than likely end up Civil Unions which is basically all I want anyway.

Because it's Deepak Chopra (the New Age equivalent of Lindsay Lohan in more conservative minds), people say it might actually help McCain rather than Obama. Again - people with controversial reputations might want to be mindful of their potentially negative effect when endorsing a candidate.
47snarkypants, I totally agree with you. Isn't this why people blog, so they can express their OPINIONS? If they were saying these things on Meet the Press or something, that would be one thing. But they're not, they're blogging. Like someone said, at least they know who is running for president and they care! But I have to admit, I am actually frightened that so many (I assume) young women who have commented can agree with Palin and her politics.
48It saddens me to see that they think that Christians are homophobes (and many think this). This is not (should not be) the case. The Bible teaches that there is one true God who sent His only Son to die on the cross for ALL people. It makes no sense that He would do this for people He does not love. The Bible is clear on what He would have us to do and not do. These "rules" are be for our benefit. Those who believe, believe that God loves us and wants an abundant life for us. But we are ALL sinners. ALL sin is viewed equally. Those who look to Jesus as our Savior are forgiven and have life eternal. We are taught to love all people. My father is gay. He is not a Christian. I love him - I am not afraid of him. I believe that he has made a wrong choice. And I believe that if he would come to know Jesus, that he would have life eternal and an abundant life on earth. I am able to have confidence in this for many reasons (too many to list here). But one being that I believe God is Creator of Heaven and Earth. That He knows every detail about all of us. And that He would not put a "rule" out there if it wasn't for our benefit.
Many of you disagree with this & think it foolish. But at least you'll know what Christianity is and not believe some exaggerated lie that I hear put out there on a daily basis.
