it's really impressive to run a marathon let alone try this - so i'm really impressed with all of them. this seems like it's right up MM's alley but for JL? hmm..i think that she should be really happy of her accomplishment, and it sounds like she is. we can't forget that there were other hollywood types that were participating - so CONGRATS to them as well!

I think this is awesome. I love seeing celebs doing endurance events! If they have a charitable aim in mind, better still. I would love to see other recent mommies, Christina, Britney, etc. taking off their makeup and sweating with the commoners

J-Lo has constantly had questionable quotes and behavior follow her but this is legit. And I think it's cute that McConaughy was out there too--he's totally in the "zone" in his wetsuit. Pretty funny.

^ well Jennifer explained herself yeah it sucks i bet she really wanted to do it too but if she was advise to not move much before the tri to be able to do it then she had to cancel and you can see her injury on some pictures, not here on HQ pix. And i guess it was great at the end since that other guy ( sorry can't remember his name) was able to do it at her place and it seem like people really like him.

Any fundraising for the hospital is great, but it just seems weird having JLo raving about that amount when she spends more than that in a day.

Mykie7, I know you later retracted your statement about J.Lo and Matt not being friends or coming into contact with each other during the race, but I always got the impression that they got along (despite their differences) and they did greet each other, according to People.com:

She didn't give away that, she was commenting on how much the event raised. According to the event's press release,this year’s event raised over $718,000 for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Pediatric Cancer Research.

They get corporate sponsorship to fund the race expenses so the entry fees paid by participants goes to the charity.

The press release also said David Duchovny was amongst the celebs, but I would think the media would be all over him, so it's possible he registered a long time ago and didn't show up, because of the recent rehab issues.

Not to be elitist, but I'm shocked that Matthew McConaughey didn't do better than 1h43 for a sprint triathlon... for a man as athletic as he is, that's a reeeeeeeeally slow time. I did a sprint tri yesterday where the winner finished in 55 minutes, and the last finisher was still under two hours -- and it was an incredibly hard course.

Not meaning to detract from the fact that they're still doing something that's pretty rare for celebrities, but it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Especially with all the shirtless jogging/biking/in the ocean pictures we get of Matt.

This was evidently a tougher course, because the fastest time was 1:15:32. The team with the Olympic swimmer came in at 1:22:53. Since I still have that press release window open:

but on another site, they are saying that the reason J-Lo pulled out of the show was because she was denied a role in a Weinstein film. Coincidentally, Weinstein produces Project Runway. In return, Heidi and Seal refused to go to Marc's birthday party.

I TOLD you Heidi looked pi**ed when she gave the reason for Jennifer not attending.

Like I said, that MAY not be true, but I do NOT buy that the only reason she dropped out was because of her foot. (Hello, the judges are SITTING during that show! How is that going to hurt her foot?)

Mykie I agree with you...someone else made a point about doing a tri for charity is way more important than project run way...yes raising money is important...but with work its about professionalism people. I hate when celebs get so big and believe in all their own hype and crap they forget where their bread is buttered and pull crap like this. Totally unprofessional and idiotic. DIVA!

Whether or not she showed up for the the triathlon wouldn't impact the fundraising effort, once her entry fee was paid, because that's what the fundraising was from. If she had bailed on the last minute because of a foot injury she wouldn't have gotten her entry fee back anyway, so her attendance didn't have any impact on the amount raised, from what I've read.

If she didn't want to do Heidi's show for whatever reason, she should have not agreed in the first place. Very unprofessional to flake.

thanks for posting ginger! I just looked at the website, and their distances aren't standard -- they do an 18mile bike instead of 20km, and 4mile run instead of 5k. That explains a bit.
