1What a great couple !!
2Thats nice that the Jolie-Pitts did that.
3Yay to the Jolie-Pitts
4Congrats to Pitt and Clooney for being on top.
Great job Oprah!
Brad and Angelina have topped the Hollywood power league, according to the Guinness World Records.
5Angelina & Brad
6Brad & George just get better and better!
Nice work on the donation.
Go Oprah!
7can never knock the jolie-pitts when it comes to their generosity, i hope zahara keeps that foundation going when she gets older
8I can't wait to see Angie on the red carpet next month.
9And of course they have to tell the world don't they? They couldn't just make the donation and shut up about it.
YAY for George! I love George Takei, and he and Brad (Isn't THAT funny, Brad and George) have been together forever. THESE two are the reason Same Sex marriage is a good thing. (And of course couples like them.)
J-Hud- What are you thinking? This guy wanted to get with New York and now you're letting him touch YOU? EW!
I don't know who this guy is, but how sad. Suicide is just so selfish and pointless. I feel sorry for his wife.
Shut up Oprah, you've done quite enough thank you.
10Yah! Love the JP'S!!!!!
11And of course they have to tell the world don't they? They couldn't just make
12the donation and shut up about it.
They are doing lot's more than most of us!!
What are you doing? Not a damn thing I bet.
13By telling people about it they are leading my example!
14misslarue, you can think what you like but there's no reason to be nasty about it.
I don't advertise the charities I support because I don't need validation from the rest of the world that I'm doing good things.
15What I said was nasty?
16I doubt the Jolie Pitts comment on this for "validation".
The rest of the statement said:
"Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease," Jolie said in a statement.
"The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable," Pitt added.
17Mykie 7, do you hear yourself? you told Oprah and Jolie Pit to shut up about charity work (helping others)...but we need an announcement to know that two gay men got married(helping themselves)... really?
18Here we GO! D*mm if the do and D*mm if they don't. All of it does not matter as long as it gets done. It seems to me that Oprah "advertises" too and no one seems to care.
19I agree mykie7. aren't there other celebrities do make donations and you never hear about it?
20props to oprah. I don't normally like her but that's a good thing.
and wtf? to jennifer hudson. she seems so classy. to be with one of those vh1 reality 'stars'? lol.
Emmygirl and misslarue both of you are so correct. Thank you.
21Thank you SandyFeet! They are contributing far more than all of us put together! How can people knock that?
22actually misslarue, what you said could be perceived as being nasty.
they contribute far more than all of us because they make MILLIONS! they can afford to. if i made millions, i sure as hell would be donating millions, too. jeebus christmas...
23Good for Brad and Angie!
I know some people are going to complain about them announcing it to the media, but I don't really give a sh*t. I think it's good what they are doing regardless.
24they contribute far more than all of us because they make MILLIONS! they can afford to. if i made millions, i sure as hell would be donating millions, too. jeebus christmas...
HELLO! They don't have to at all!! The fact that they do at all is great!!!Why don't people get that??
25According to other reports this morning, (not from the Pitt-Jolies') they gave over $8 million dollars this year to charities, and we didn't see press releases for all of the other donations.
How many news sources would bother to run an article about this clinic if it didn't have the Jolie-Pitt name attached? They are using their position to bring attention to issues that need larger support. It's reported to be the same clinic where Zahara was born.
26There's children plagued with HIV/AIDS needing help. Whether the persons who lend a helping hand on this matter are announcing on the media or not is a quite trivial matter to me.
27Oh snap, I meant they donated 8.4 million in 2007. They probably aren't done donating this year, it's only September.
28damn all that...Angie? Oprah?...can I get some gas money!
29and by the photo I saw...I though that guy Jennifer was marrying was Jonathan Plummer...the resemblance should send up a flare shouldn't it??
30Gas money, I love it!
Thanks for that comment Mesyme, it lightens things up while also letting it be known that helping other's is great but you could use some help as well, no matter what issue is being helped.
31At least they will have other countries to fall back on. At
32the rate America is going, entertainment is going to be the
least of our worries. Huge companies going under, loss of
jobs, Salvation Army, no money, Red Cross no money, Texas
billions in damages. At this moment our town is flooding,
we have lost four majors companies in two years so there
are no jobs. There is no limit as to where you can donate,
even food, labor or anything helps. I prefer to donate to
the people that are staving in my own town and state but
I also donate to St.Jude and Cancer reserch because they
effect everyone. You don't have to be rich to help your
neighbors and the people around you. Even your time helps.
Who in their right mind would get engaged to someone who was on a reality show trying to hook up with a tranny like New York?
33serasvictoria-My thoughts exactly.
34What if Zahara doesnt want to?
What if she just wants to be a party girl when she
grows up?
35I know that on my budget the most I can do is try my best not to contract HIV nor spread it. And if I know someone who is sleeping around, offer to buy him/her a box of condoms. You do what you can and thank God there are those who can do more. To whom much is given, much is expected...
36i agree j2. what if zahara wants to be a model and date mick jagger when she's 18?
but seriously mesayme, a lot of people help any way they can. we do what we can within our budget. i think people on the lower end of the income spectrum are to be commended for giving anything at all, because the u.s. economy is in the sh*tter, and every dollar helps. but there's always someone who is worse off than you...
37Mesayme, I get what you're saying, and you're right, we DON'T need the announcement about George and Brad (I'll never tire of saying that LMAO).
I should have said that while it's great and all, we DON'T really need the big announcement about it. The REASON though that it is news is because of the nature of the union.
There's nothing remarkable or newsworthy about the charity donations, people do it every day. As to Oprah, I'm just sick of her and want her to shut her trap in general, not just about this. LOL
38First, I think I've been misunderstood.
I DO NOT have a problem with the JP's donating. Quite the contrary, I think it's great that they do it!
My problem is they make these huge claims about wanting privacy blah blah blah, and then they go and make these public announcements.
It's like they're out there going, "Look at us, aren't we perfect? Aren't we wonderful? We do great things!" THAT'S my irritation with them.
I know that the people that love them won't understand the point because for the most part, they don't see ANYTHING they do as wrong, but I think if you really look at it objectively, you'll see that this is true.
39gosh...some people get their panties all up in a bunch. those are our opinions and the last time I checked, I live in a country that allows me to do that. I don't like brad pitt or angelina jolie just like a lot of people don't like britney or paris. and again, I agree with mykie.
40Jennifer's boyfriend always looks like he has on lip gloss.um, good luck with that sweetie.
41I'm so happy for George and Brad.
But very sad to hear about David. Suicide is such a sad thing for someone to go through.
42Good job Brangie! If you have any money lef, can you make Palin go away?? I bet $5 milion would do..
43I meant "left"
44well we all knew that the jolie-pitts were trying to set up things for their kids to run when they are old enough and it's nice, but i wonder if that's even something that Z is going to want to do when she's at the right age. i guess we'll just have to wait and see
i'm happy that burn after reading did so well at the box office - it's nice that the boys have a successful movie ....again...
it's great that people are finally allowed to legally get married and i wish them the best. anyone who's a trekkie is probably happy to hear about this news!
CONGRATS to jennifer - i don't know if it's something to brag about - having your fiance be on 'i love NY' but if they are happy - then that's a good thing. i'm sure he's VERY different from what he was like on the show.
that's a shame about the author. there was a LOT of talk about his book and i hope that it wasn't a contributing factor to his suicide.
Oprah is great at bringing issues to the forefront of what's important and i think that it's good that she's doing this. granted i don't usually pay more attention to what she's talking about vs. what's on the news - i think that it's a good thing.
45How can you have a problem with people donating money to a charity??
46No one has a problem with them donating to Charity Misslarue, the problem is with them publicizing it.
47Who gives a rip, does the money still go to the charity at the end of the day???
48Exactly, Mykie7. It's been said before, again and again that there are many, many people out there, priests, nuns, students, mothers, fathers, etc. who do great things for others. They go overseas, live in poverty, cook, clean, and take care of the sick. There are people in this country who help homeless, donate their time and money. You never see their faces or hear their names in the media. And there are those who live for fame and publicity. And as I said before, those who do good out of goodness of their hearts, don't need any acolades..
49Amen Daisy, very well said. And misslarue, Daisy gave the answer so I don't need to.
