Julia was showing her baby bump when filming Fireflies in the Garden in Texas this week. Obviously her character is also pregnant in the film. We've told you about how Orlando, Leo and Madonna are making contributions to the environment - and Julia has always been one to support the environment including building a $20 mil eco-friendly home. In Elle's Green issue, she talks about how each person can make a difference. Here are highlights:
- On the toxic threat school buses pose to kids: “I just feel that any parent who’s informed cannot put their kid on a school bus without saying to their school district or their congressman, ‘Hey, man, you gotta clean this up for us!’ Because it’s too easy not to fix.”
- On her appearance on Oprah to campaign for biodiesel buses: “I’ve been in this business for 20 years, so I understand for better or for worse the media frenzy and the power of celebrity. And until you say something of true value on Oprah, you don’t really realize how many people watch her.”
On saving the planet: “It sounds corny, but it’s true: It’s our absolute responsibility to take care of our children so that we don’t just throw up our hands and say, ‘Wow, we pretty much f—ked this up. Good luck to ya in 50 years.’ Because we did create the problem little by little and that’s the way we’re gonna have to fix it, little by little, the best we can.”- On everyday ways to stay green: “Every time I go to the grocery store carrying my grocery sacks back from the time before, I feel happy. All the tiny things, I think, really do make a difference.”
Celebrities definitely have access to greater resources than most of us, but we love that Julia reminds us that every little bit helps.

Awwwwwwwww!!! i love her
1she looks amazing!
Julia is amazing! Glad she's making a difference and wants everyone else too!
2What about seatbelts on school buses?? Does anyone else have a concern about this?
3I love that she's outspoken about a good cause although I don't particularly see what the big deal about her.
4i bought some canvas bags at Trader Joes my last visit there and she is right, the little things like that make you feel like you are doing your part!
5good for her! i'm glad she's speaking out and acting on what she believes in. she's got so much darn money, maybe she can donate a green bus to a poor school district? not all districts can afford things like that.
6I like her hair color

Oh Sanjaya, you set my heart on fire.
I love that she's a very green person.
8her face is small for being pregers..i though u pick a little face weight
9This is really great and all and Im a huuuge advocate of environmental issues, Im vegetarian and herbally and all that jazz and even I have to admit that it's not that simple...Maybe in little rich @ss Hollywood/Beverly Hills it is, but not in about 98% of the areas and school districts in this country. It's sad and I hate to admit it but it really isnt that simple and I can see the reality in that. School districts literally dont get sh!t from the state(s) which pisses me off to no end and is a MAJOR issue I fight for. The states are supposed to be educating our children and filling out our future generations and making sure they have a head on their shoulders and a million other things that education does for people individually and communally that would take me all day to go over. Education plays quite possibly the biggest role in what shapes you as a person next to your family and ironically it is the most neglected financially of anything else in this country, it seems. So while Julia is making $2 million dollars a picture and saying such things (though with good intentions), about 80% or more of our nations school disctricts have to hold fund raisers and bakes sales for next years text books. Unfortunately, school buses aren't going to get fixed anytime soon
..It sucks, I know. But Im sure her kids go to the best schools, dont have to go without air
conditioning in June and August, teachers get paid about $25-$30 an hour(or at least what they deserve
), and their arts programs are in tact without any fear of them being removed to make way for the football team to have new uniforms(sarcasm totally, this
actually happened in my area's district which has the area in an understandable rampage). Unfortunately, it's not so shiney everywhere esle.
10This isnt an attack of her, because I really love Julia, always have
And Im glad
that she does what she can. It's good to see that there are some celebrities that are not entirely self-involved to a point of being completely unrealistic. *ahem*paris*ahem*Britany**ahem*
Every little bit helps. When I know that there are some things that I would love to do for the environment, but there is no way in hell I can afford them it's go to at least know there is
someone who has the money to do whatever they want and can afford to be more destructive and wasteful than about 10 of us plain folk put together-they choose not too.
YEA! JULIA!!!
11Good Lord. If looks could kill! (second pic)
12She still is pretty like she has always been. She doesn't look her age.
13julia's pregnant?!?! where have i been??
141-why put your kids on the bus if you aren't comfortable with it? just drive them to school.
152-hate the plastic bags. they are trying to make them illegal in san fran.
3-heard on our local radio station this morning that she left her dh. anyone else hear this? the story is that danny wants to work and she wants to live in new mexico where there is no work for him in whatever it is he does.
I adore julia, seriously. If there was anyone I'd want my kid looking up to, it'd be me, and her.
16She looks so cute preggers!
"Aint nobody out there swift like this."
17yeah, that makes a bunch of sense you twit (Julia Roberts), instead of one bus carrying up to 72 students, have 72 cars drop off their kids instead - that will really help the environment.
To the person who asked about seatbelts on school buses....big no-no, they are actually more dangerous because they have to be fitted to each child and the seats are designed so that you bounce off of them in an accident. Not to mention that if it flips over, you now have 72 students hanging upside down and have to cut them out (I work for a school board).
18wow she got big cant wait 2 see her baby
19She looks so cute with her baby bump!
20Wow! She really is getting big!
