John Mayer suited up and grabbed his guitar to perform at Susan and Tony Bennett's Exploring the Arts Gala, a fundraiser for school music programs, in NYC last night. Whoopi Goldberg played hostess for the evening and immediately pegged John as her new crush after his performance. John's Summer tour may be over [1], but he was happy to participate in the charity event, saying [2],"There's 12-year-old John Coltranes and Miles Davises walking around. They just don't know it yet." Sounds like John is ready to embrace some competition from the talented up-and-comers.
