Nicole Richie visited traffic school in LA yesterday, but stayed more undercover than usual probably looking to avoid any questions about her ex-fiancé DJ AM's plane crash. While she's laying low for the moment, she's still staying active in her charity work, posting a video of her recent visit to a local children's shelter on the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation MySpace yesterday. She wrote about her efforts, "This past year, philanthropy has opened my eyes to so much need and so much beauty. I have also realized how easy it is to help, and how rewarding it feels to be able to make a positive difference in someone's life," encouraging people to text and donate. So far they've raised $10,000 towards their $35,000 goal — already amazing work by these big hearted new parents and their continued passion for giving.

12i think that it's nice that she's realizing that she can make a difference and that there's something to be said about using your powers for good rather than evil. i think that having a baby and having all these life changing things happen to her in a short amount of time just showed her that there are more important things that she could be focusing on, and i'm really happy to see that she's doing all these great things.
i hope that their foundation is able to reach the goal that they've set and i'm sure that they will.
13I dont think she has a lot of money to give to charity. She doesnt "do anything" according to most people, remember?
And I think all of her 10k gowns are loaned or given by the designer to get name recognition or something.
Its more important to raise $$ b/c it builds awareness (I think).
This kinda reminds me of that movie with Jennifer Aniston in it, Friends With Money I believe it was called.
And Jen's character was so pissed at her friends for spending money on their expensive charity functions instead of just GIVING the money to charity and being done with it. And they were like "because this is what rich people do - shut up!" LOL!
