Last night Vantiy Fair helped kick off the Tribeca Film Festival with a party attended by a variety of big names. Robert De Niro and David Bowie were among those who flashed big smiles for the cameras, but apparently there is a fair amount of tension between these two under the surface. It seems that De Niro is not a big fan of Bowie's High Line Festival, which is set to start just three days after Tribeca ends and is catered towards a younger crowd. Here's more:
But a source at the Tribeca festival sniffed to Page Six: "I think they are envisioning themselves as Slamdance to our Sundance and living off the success of Sundance."
Some High Liners believe De Niro has already sabotaged them by keeping Tribeca's public relations team, Rubenstein Communications, from doing press for High Line, the Web site reports. De Niro's flack had no comment. But one longtime De Niro pal insisted, "He could care less."
Rubenstein Communications President Steven Rubenstein denies there's any feud, adding that Bowie was set to attend last night's Tribeca kickoff party sponsored by Vanity Fair. Bowie told us in a statement: "I am afraid I have no control over the inexplicable comments from the High Line producers. I think the Tribeca Film Festival is unique and irreplaceable."
Seems like a lot of fuss over nothing. Besides, Robert should have nothing to worry about, it is his festival that's premiering Spider-man 3, which is sure to be a huge hit!

2Iman? Fab? Yeah she is!! Haha.
3------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes I close my eyes and just pretend, what if I had the chance to do it all again
David Bowie is scary looking and a bit more feminine than Iman. Christy Turlington is gorgeous and so is Ed Burns. Love Robert De Niro....I think the press is making a big deal over nothing...as usual. I'm telling you, there has just been nothing in the media to go crazy over so everyone is making stuff up to seem more interesting than it is. How pathetic.
4Oooh Anna Paquin...love her...she is so pretty. And yet another young actress that keeps under the radar and doesn't go make a spectacle of herself.
5Ivanka looks gorgeous , but theres something wrong w her dress on the top ..
6I won't read this because I LOVE DeNiro.. he is so GREAT for NYC!! Love his restaurant Tribeca Grill!!!!
7Iman is just something else no ohter black model is like her.
8Bowie has always scared me
but De Niro looks great!!!
9Bowie looks better than he has in a long time!! Good for him!! Last time I saw pictures of him he looked like he was on death's door (or maybe just too much botox
)!
10Whatever. I admire them both and they are contributing something good towards NYC in terms of recognizing and celebrating the arts.
11"I love when celebrity rep's 'sniff' their comments", sniffed ashleyk4214.

Ed Burns is there-aren't-enough-words-to-describe hot!
14I thought Bowie's fest was music-related and DeNiro's is obvs film-related. What's the big deal?
15has iman ever aged?************************************************************
16Indentured servant a slave to slave, thank god for my hopeful heart and for mutual feelings
LOL lovebrit!!! That song is so weird/hilarious!
17Am I the only one who had a crush on Bowie in Labyrinth?
18Maybe I was just a weird kid.
Bowie's spandex pants in Labyrinth were so obscene.
19I love David Bowie! He is one of my favorites and he is soo dreamy! I don't think you were the only one magica!
20I love Robert DeNiro! Never found Bowie to be all that attractice. Now he just looks plain scary to me!
21I think Christy Turlington is the most beautiful model ever.
22I still love David Bowie TeamSugar, his music is the best!
Great avvie Gum Dupster. And I love me some Jareth in spandex and eyeshadow.
23Sorry Gum Dumpster, didn't mean to misspell your name.
24no worries magica and I totally agree as far as his music is concerned. I even really liked him in The Prestige.
25Yes! How appropriate, I finally made it to Silver status and it was on a Bowie comment.
26I liked him in The Prestige too. Congrats on your Silver status!
27What egos looks Deniro and Bowie are Getting along just Fine.
28Wow, Iman just gets more and more stunning. And Christy Turlington has always been one of my favorite models. I think she resembles Jessica Biel in a way.
I'm not surprised by the big egos of De Niro and Bowie. They've earned them, lol.
29I don't think Robert DeNiro gives two sh*ts what David Bowie does.
