Jennifer Lopez smiled big at last night's Women in Hollywood Tribute, but these days the star has more on her mind than just fancy dresses and red carpets. She recently sat down with The Daily Beast showing her tender motherly side — of course, Emme has her ears pierced already and Max wears sequins — while opening up about a nervous breakdown, her relationship with Scientology and more. Here are highlights:

- On going through a breakdown: "I don't get nervous. I don't get depressed. Blah blah blah," she says, but pauses to reconsider. Still staring into her daughter's eyes, she reaches an instant, instinctual decision. She will start now, in this moment, not-lying in her daughter's presence. "There was a time when I was very overworked and I was doing music and movies and so many things. I was suffering from a lack of sleep. And I did have a kind of nervous breakdown. I froze up on a set. Well, not on a set, but in my trailer. I was like - I don't want to move. I don't want to talk. I don't want to do anything. It was on that movie Enough," she says, referring to the film in which she played a battered wife who finally fights back. "Yeah. I did. I had a nervous breakdown."
- On Scientology: "I have no problems with it and it really actually bothers me that people have such a negative feeling towards it. . . Yeah. I wouldn't mind [sending Emme and Max to Scientology School]. Not at all. Because I know that the technologies that they have are very helpful… It's all about communication. That's the thing I really don't like about talking about this. I do know so many great people who do do it, who choose it as a lifestyle and really follow it and it is their religion…I just wish that people wouldn't judge it without knowing what it is."
- On her reputation: "I think I've always been a favorite to pick on," she says. "Once you have a lot of success you become a target in many ways…I just think that the whole diva thing is a misrepresentation of who I am. I think some of that is because of where I came from. I came from the Bronx and a certain background. I worked really hard. I kept my focus on the right things. And still even with that they find stuff to pick on."
She also revealed her thoughts on why her baby pictures sold for so much. As for her reputation, she'll always enjoy the finer things, but her work ethic and loving family both help her lose the "diva" image and seem to keep her more grounded than ever.

something sound off about the interview at the dailybeast site, are they reliable ? because they have a lot of fact wrong, like her duaghter name, their age (unless they did the interview 4 month ago) and she's never so open about her persoonal life in interviews.
1That interview sounds strange. And she totally issued a non-denial about the Scientology thing...I'm sorry but you can't be a Catholic and a Scientologist at the same time. It just doesn't work that way.
2well in the interview when asked if she's a scientologist she says No ! but that she doesn't have probblem with it and would be open about it if she was.
3But anyway that interview is just strange if they did it 4 months why do they publish it only now ? something is not right lol i wouldn't be surprise if it's half fake.
somehow I don't think freezing up in your trailer qualifies as a nervous breakdown...
4on scientology: "I just wish that people wouldn't judge it without knowing what it is." that's right. now please go and get some information about this sect instead of spreading ignorance...
5i think that having kids has made her a little more personable and that's a nice thing for jennifer. we all had this certain perception of her, and now that she's got the twins, i can't say that she's losing that diva side since she's still always out at events etc, but i think that we see that there's a softer side to her as well.
6i didnt know freezing on set qualifies as a nervous breakdown..wow i had several then..well not on set..but at home.
and for the sciento and her reputation..well..not going to comment on that
7"I know that the technologies that they have are very helpful…"
Do Scientologists have secret technologies?
8i have always liked some of her songs
9her taste in clothing is classical chic
i don't really what is scientoloy
i don't thinkits a religion that's my opinion...silly stars feel the need to be unique in everything ;kaballa ,scientology..blah.
nice, so she really likes a group of people who harass and intimidate there critics? who stalk anyone they view as a threat? she knows about all the people who have been forced to break all connections to there family in order to further there ability to funnel money into the cult.
nice, I always knew she was a dolt, but now I see she is a dangerously stupid dolt. It's clear she is on here way to the S.S. Crazy. hope you have a lot of money left because you are going to need it where you seem to be going, and you are likely not to be getting a whole lot more. I just wish celebrities would have some idea what they were talking about before they opened there mouths, but then I guess that would lie outside there skill set. they don't need to know what they are talking about, it's there job to fake emotions, not launch rockets.
10You have a reputation as a diva because you do diva things, dummy!
11I find it pretty lame that people call Scientology a "religion". And californiagirl's right--you can't be a Catholic and a Scientologist at the same time. Looks like she's drinking the Kool-Aid...
12Wait, I really want to know about secret Scientologist technologies!
13I had an emotional and mental breakdown when I tried to watch "Enough" so I can understand her troubles while filming that steaming pile of sh*t
14LOL @ brian
15I'm soooooooooooooo over her!
16LOL Brian!!!
17Max wears sequins.....what?????
18yes "of course" her son wears sequins? wtf?
People like picking on you Jennifer because you are too big for your britches. People dont like it when you act like you are something you arent, in your case, its acting and singing.
19Jennifer has always gotten a bad rap from the press. I like her because she is a woman of color who has held her own in Hollywood and always looks fab. So glad she's finally found happiness as a wife and mom.
20That pic of her is fug...
21Yuck
22suffering from a lack of sleep? sure when you're sucking the hell out of yourself for $$$$!
23I don't think I'm ever going to like her...
24Oh No Jen, not you too!! (Scientology)
25she looks terrible. I never cared for her, I think she got lucky to play Selena and Puff Daddy Diddy Whatever he is now, helped her build her empire. She modeled her business after his.I think that relationship helped her proffesionally.
I always thought she was overrated, especially when I met her.
26Overrated woman, can't act, can't sing, can only dance. She's an opportunist but a smart business woman, Jlo's so full of herself and its a known fact that her skeletor husband is a cokehead. She has no class, never has and never will no matter how much money she makes. Only thing I will credit her with is having an ok sense of style.
27See, the people criticizing her are the very critics highlighted in the last comment. You don't have to like her, just ignore her. I have really come to believe people like to pick on her.
I have had my ups and down of J.Lo, but seeing this makes me like her. I see her as this underdog. I think she is still Catholic but she is talking about the fact that a lot of her Hollywood friends are scientologist, or at least the high profile celebrities she is friendly with
Her father is a scientologist from before her Hollywood days, however her mom raised her Catholic as is typical for so many old fashioned Hispanics.
Yolanda6, I'm in total agreement with you. She is a woman of color who has accomplished a great deal.
To Mar, she may have had public relationship with Diddy but when she met him she had already worked with some GREAT directors, if I remember correctly and Diddy was know for music, I'll give you that he helped her in that arena but I think their clothing lines took off not too far apart each other.
28but I think their clothing lines took off not too far apart each other.
I mean:
Diddy was know for music, NOT movies AND I their clothing lines took off not too far apart each other.
29People mock Jennifer for stupid things. I feel like no one wants to acknowledge that is HUMAN and a woman and hence, has vulnerabilities. She has had enormous faith and confidence in herself and life but that doesn't mean that she isn't the type of person to try and put forth this "strong person"...I think she tries to be brave too. She is not always perfect a lot of what she does is work, will, effort. She is not going to disclose to much to the interviewer but the fact that she doesn't want to be dishonest in front of her daughter speaks volume, it's admirable.
Basically, I think she is alluding that she has had a tough time in the past. She can't say too much with having to go into detail and reveal something that would be fodder.
I think her divorce from Cris Judd and then her break up with Ben, and the height of her success she must have been lonely or had doubts. It's all in the past but by acknowledging it she shows that she has a vulnerable side and that she isn't perfect.
Lastly, people should be a little nicer. At least she isn't trying to convince us she is, Jenn just leaves her life and puts her heart out there. That's cool of her.
30Jenn just *lives* her life and puts her heart out there. That's cool of her.
31this interview is %100 FAKE!!!
32POP plz do some research before posting sth.YA know that people in here believe anything they read!
PeachyKeen - I was making a broad statement, not necessarily about Jennifer claiming to be both a Catholic and a Scientologist (although she has made some ambiguous statements about this idea). When Tom Cruise began dating Katie Holmes (who used to be Catholic), he said on ABC's Primetime that you can belong to both religions:
On the same show, Cruise insisted his new baby will not be raised a Catholic, despite Holmes' devout upbringing in the Church. He said his bride-to-be was a full convert to Scientology, and the couple had no plans of raising their child, due this month, any other way.
Cruise said, "No, I mean you can be Catholic and be a Scientologist. You can be Jewish and be a Scientologist. But we're just Scientologists."
