Paramount is, like, so over Tom Cruise. They are ending a 14 year relationship between themselves and Tom's production company "citing the actor's controversial and sometimes erratic behavior of the past year." The WSJ reports:

Paramount now believes that Mr. Cruise's behavior hurt the box office of his most recent film, "Mission: Impossible III." Now, Mr. Redstone said he wants to sever the studio's connection to its biggest star.
"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Mr. Redstone said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."
A spokeswoman for Cruise/Wagner Productions declined to comment.
After being contacted by the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Cruise's representatives presented a different version of events. They said that Mr. Cruise's production company had decided to set up an independent operation financed by two top hedge funds, which they declined to name. Paula Wagner, Mr. Cruise's partner in the company, said such an arrangement represented a new business model for top actors prominent enough to take advantage of the flood of money coming into Hollywood from Wall Street.
Wow. It's the end of an era for Cruise. I like that Cruise's people spun it that he has another master plan, but I wonder if this will tame his recent behavior or only make it worse? How will Katie fall out of this mess? Who exactly are the financiers who want to back Cruise now? So many questions.
love, love, LOVE the cracked cover! hahaha...
1I'm pretty sure Tom quit caring about his image about the time he started jumping on couches...
2He's cracked all right.
3i was having a bad day and now things are looking up lol.
4NNN will have all of the answers for us i'm sure.
5Financiers? UH, Church of Scientology
6Holy crap! This is huuggge.
7omg, you're probably right... do i smell another battleship earth on the way?
8what was bad about tom's behavior on mission impossible 3?
9Looks like the beginning of the end!
10his decent into the parody of his former self started after he let his sister go as his publisist. she was with him for years (and obviously guided him well and had him on a short leash). left to his own devices and he's a freak.
but really- just how much money and fame can a person have? coming down a notch ain't the worst thing that could happen to him.
11I don't think they meant his behaviour ON the set, I think they meant off the set. Unless I'm missing something...
12i liked MI 3-- i dont like tom cruise though... didnt stop me from seeing the movie...
13i'm sure they meant off the set.
like his little big discussion with matt on the today show certainly didn't help sell any tickets to his movies.
14I love the Cracked mag cover! And I agree SM......this is the beginning of the end.
15i just hope katie is smart enough NOT to marry him.
16I'm pretty sure it's all his nutty behaviour they have a problem with. ie, the think more people would have gone to see MI:3 if Tom Cruise hadn't been behaving like a nut for the last year.
17LOL at the cracked cover!
If he has financers, they must be scientologists.
jeeeeeez, this man just needs to stop. turns out, "scientology only masks the crazy psycho-path underneath"
18LOL!
19He had such a huge deal with them. It irks me that amazing actresses make headlines for getting $20 million for a film, and he was getting more that double that with Paramount. He used to be kind of a talent actor....but he's crashed his career by opening his mouth.
20i care very little about what others say. so if i were one of the highest paid actors in the world and had as much money in the bank as i can imagine tom cruise does i would probably not care at all. what do any of us have that he needs?
21Funny cover!
It shows the importance of image and how "acting" off camera can affect you. Tom forgot to play the normal card when he was off the big screen. You have to maintain that bud or it bites you in the end. He isn't invincible, or irreplaceable.
22I have never thought he was an amazing actor. Great to look at in certain flicks but not overwhelmingly wonderful.
I say.. Cut 'em guys, there are many more fish in the sea!
I'm guessing this is the first reality check Mr. Cruise has had for a very long time. But I'm sure his employees/backers will find some way to spin it.
23that cover is beyond hilarious!
24omg he look like he did sum drug or somethin. WOW he got way messed up he used to be so fine
25In that type of business you have to be on all the time. Contain cool composure on and off set. Must be hard, everyone knowing your business and judging you all the time.
26I love this. I love when powerful people have to pay for their stupidity.
27This is really huge. They made millions off of him and as nutty as he is, he's still one of the biggest movie stars on earth. Things must have been a lot worse than what we heard about.
As for the publicist, it was Pat Kingsley who guided him for 14 years, then two years ago he fired her and hired his sister, right when he broke up with Penelope, and that was the start of the decline. Kingsley always sheltered him and controlled the image, and that was a good thing evidently. He's since fired his sister I think.
28This is hilarious! Mr.Turd Cruise is not so wonderful and powerful after all! This just made my day! Serves him right! Stoopid head that he is!
29What a nice way to start my day!
30ha he looks like such a weirdo!! hahaha it cracks me up!!
31Maybe I'm coming in late on this one, but is that the "40 y.o Virgin" cover?
32NNN will do a post soon enought about these new developments. I love that cover and he may be a 44 year old virgin.
33That cover is too funny!
34Errrmmm...isn't Tom and John Travolta and other the ones that are financing the Church of Scientology??? I am confused...I thought it was high profile people like them that enable this cult to survive.
35The finance from hedge fund company is definitely a crock of sh*t...no smart business man/woman would invest in Crazy Cruise.
36It's about time he got a reality check.
37I agree with Babsee...when he fired his sister his behaviour has declined since then.
I saw MI3 and loved it...I was put off by the GMD but decided to see it anyway as I like the other 2 and did not want him to put me off...I am sure many others did not share this view judging by the box office.
38He only fired his sister last November. She was his publicist during the whole couch jumping period. She was the start of the decline. It's the pro he had from 1990-2004 that helped make him look normal.
Wonder if he will start lawsuits against publications that claim he was fired, since he's such a control freak about his image.
39Oh my God. Yes, Yes, YES! YES! YES! Muahahahahaha!
40whatever paramount is loosing out, he still is a brill actor
41"Brill" actor Luna?? I have to beg to differ here, you know I love ya, but Turd has nothing on many others...he is a "has been"...just my opinion, I mean no ill will, I just cannot, nor have I ever been able to stand the man...or lack there of...
42hallelujah!
43Need I say more?
44Break out the champagne!
45WOW that is really something...
46HAHAHA! This was on CNN love this morning & I was late to work b/c I was laughing so hard! The tagline was "the end of another relationship for Tom Cruise...no he is still with Katie, as far as we know."
47the perfect role for him: the dumpee!!!!!hahahahahahaha
48Yeeeeeeees! Bye Bye Mr. Freaky!
49schadenfreude \SHOD-n-froy-duh\, noun:
A malicious satisfaction obtained from the misfortunes of others.
I know it's bad karma, blah, blah, blah, but I absolutely LOVE when bad things happen to obnoxious celebrities. This is the best thing to happen since those photos of Lindsey and Dina in the hotel came out!
