Robert Downey Jr. got into character, other than his Starbucks cup, on the set of Sherlock Holmes in London on Friday. Guy Ritchie also dressed up for work as he gave RDJ a few pointers between takes. Seeing Robert all dressed up with the signature Sherlock hat is getting us even more excited for the film, especially since it can only be a matter of time before costar Rachel McAdams is spotted by his side.

not looking very Holmes like. The hat is more like Charlie Chaplin? Still looking forward to this movie though!
1I don't know why, but he looks so cool in that costume.
2I love Robert
! Can't for this movie
3I was just thinking that it all looks wrong.. his hair, stubble and entire costume looks outta wack for the era of Holmes.. but who am I. They are in the industry and must know better. Maybe it will look different on screen.
4Can't wait* Damn keyboard...
5Yep,he looks like Chaplin again.Sorry but i cant think of him in any other role since then.
6I was going to comment that he looks more like Charlie Chaplin than Sherlock Holmes. But I see others got ahead of me with that same thought.
7I really wanna watch this one, and I'm very curious to hear Robert's British accent...
8Robert's acting abilities earned my respect with 'Less than Zero'... so I'm happy to see that he didnt' let his personal life ruin his career. All the best Robert.

@ xosofiaxo...don't blame the keyboard for leaving out a whole word...
10"the signature Sherlock hat" is a deerstalker and what Downey Jr is wearing is a bowler hat. Still, the film might be good.
11doesn't quite have the Sherlock Holmes look yet. but it's the beginning of filming so i won't judge too early.
12Damn, Guy, it's 1 of the first things you learn regarding fashion dos and donts, never ever wear brown shoes with a grey suit!
13Pathetic...
i can't wait for this movie
14Yeah i thought the hat was odd too...but I'm still very interested in seeing this movie.
15I wonder if the movie is looking at Sherlock's life before he became an inspector; which would completely explain the period attire.
16babyblue -- I thought the EXACT same thing. Maybe it is just b/c he made a movie about Chaplin's life, but he is looking far more tramp than super detective.
17He's truly a brilliant actor. I'm so glad he has appeared to have kicked his demons and is now on the straight and narrow. He has wonderful talent.
18God, he is awesome! He looks so cool in anything. Since it just started filming, I'm going to guess that he's wearing that just to get into character, and that's not necessarily the final look. Either way, I think he wears it well and it is very Holmes-y to me.
19GO RDJ but its reminiscent of his old movie before.
20Guess I will have to settle for an English director. Would have liked to have seen an English actor in this role. After all it is Sherlock Holmes. But I am sure Robert will arise to the occasion.
21i can't wait for rdj to come out with this - he is one of our few actors who can act!
22i'm PSYCHED about this movie and i can't wait to see what the end result is. i'm a huge fan of RDJ and i think that rachel can certainly add something to the cast as well.
23yes
) he looks more like Charlie Chaplin
)
24Could that perhaps be a disguise that Holmes wears while he's sleuthing?
25I adore this man. I cannot wait to see this film. He's looking goooood.
26love him...

I cannot wait for this film to go into theaters. I never thought I would say that
about a Sherlock Holmes film however I just feel that RDJ will bring the character to a brand new level. And it helps that I adore his movies (and could he look any cuter in costume!)
