Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise looked holiday ready in their red outfits as they grabbed ice cream in NYC yesterday. Suri's been treated to plenty of fun on her city outings with mom and dad, but apparently she's been lonely for some pint-sized friends to play with. Tomorrow night is the official opening of Katie's Broadway show along with the first reviews, so maybe good news for mom will help lift Suri's spirits too. If not, Suri still has plenty of fuzzy buddies and dolls to keep her company.

I wish I could see Suri's pretty face thru all that hair!!
1Gosh, Suri's looking like a little street urching rather than a trendy NYC tot. Time for a haircut and some less-than-somber clothes?
2lol..i thnk that everyone's just so used to suri looking super adorable that now since she's looking more like a regular kid it's just a big change right? it has to be hard for them, since you know that katie gets photographed EVERYWHERE she goes which means that it is next to impossible for her to make friends let alone find friends for suri to play with. i wonder if she and michelle williams are still close enough that their little girls could have a play date since they are about the same age right?
3They are growing out her hair- lol.
I love Katies outfit- very cute
4i think michhelle williams and katie holmes are so different as persons, so it would be really hard for them to be friends. i don`t think they were very close in dawsons creek.
5Suri is cute.
6meh
7Either cut the girl's bangs so we can see her face or put a bobbypin to hold it back!
8she's adorable.
9"apparently she's been lonely for some pint-sized friends to play with / Suri still has plenty of fuzzy buddies and dolls to keep her company."
not very subtle there Pop. Or tasteful. She's a little girl, stop trying to brand her a some kooky kid.
I think it's a shame when grownups talk trash about a kid when they don't like the parents.
10good gracious cut those freaking bangs! Or clip them back. SOMETHING!
11Suri is very cute. I'm getting tired of Perez making fun of her. Your right Mesayme. She is just a little girl.
12How would you like to be the mother of that security guard?
"Hey, what's little Frankie doing these days?"
"Oh! We're so proud! He's carrying baby dolls around New York City for a two year old!"
"Does he get to walk 3 feet behind her, too?"
"Oh, yes! His father is just bursting at the seams with pride!"
13For goodness sakes. Buy clothes that fit the kid and cut her hair! She looks like an orphan. She also looks like a spoiled brat. She never smiles at all.
14Ok, those heels totally don't go with the outfit. What is wrong with wearing flats...or even sneakers! Love the shirt though.
15Suri's hair goes really fast, they just cut her bangs. shes cute.
16My eyes hurt looking at this. Both from Suri's overgrown fringe and from Katie's shirt. Urgh.
17Suri is such a cutie, but I think she's a little bit less gush- able than other celeb babies (like Kingston or Violet) because we never really see her in a warm and fuzzy context. She's always with Katie, who looks so dejected and joyless, and I haven't seen either of them smiling in a picture in a long time. She's also usually dressed like an adult, never in casual rough- and- tumble kid wear.
18jill, would have to agree with you - she's beginning to look like a spoiled brat. hopefully we're wrong but the last few photos seem to give that impression. maybe if she was able to just play with kids her own age, as opposed to being exposed to public adoration and shop assistants no doubt fawning over her, she might be better off in the long-run.
19So what if she isn't surrounded each day by little playmates. She is really young and maybe Katie doesn't subscribe to the whole "my kid is popular with play-dates" crap that seems to be popular these days with moms.
20plaid will never weasel it's way back into my closet again....ever
21CUT HER BANGS!!! Bah, that is probably so frustrating for her, all in the name of "trend setting." Give it up Katie.
22i dont understand - why is she ALWAYS in dresses and those shoes? i feel she never wears anything else. and the dresses always look the same - same style, length...
23"Tomorrow night is the official opening of Katie's Broadway show along with the first reviews, so maybe good news for mom will help lift Suri's spirits too."
Yeah, i'm sure little two year old Suri gives a huge crap about her mother's play being critically well received. I'm sure that keeps her awake at night. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's why not smiling in these photos.
Either that or her too-long fringe is bugging the heck out of her! Jeez, clip it back, poor kid can't even see through it!
24What an ugly shirt. I love plaid as much as the next one, but this looks like dated Christmas wrapping paper.
25Yes, because dolls and stuffed animals are a replacement for true human interaction. NOT. I feel sorry for hollywood kids like Suri, that don't get to have normal lives.
Ya know, I may not have grown up in a mansion with designer clothes and enough money to have whatever I wanted, but I wouldn't trade the life I DID have for this one for all the money in the world. I'll take my stumbles and money struggles over this any day.
26While I love little girls in dresses, this is becoming rather like a dull uniform than any kind of style. (Though I feel it's ridiculous to even type that word when discussing a toddler.)
Why always the same long dresses and MaryJanes every single day? No cute cardigan sweaters or fleece pullovers in chilly weather, no sneakers or play shoes, always solids or maybe once in a while stripes in the same repeating colors (red, navy, black, gray, silver, gold).
Most of the expensive children's boutiques that I know of are have such bright and fun colors in mixed patterns. If I had a little girl and all that money I'd go crazy for those clothes from Oilily, Catamini, Duex Par Deux, Cakewalk, etc. I guess everyone has their own taste though.
It's just strange, But I guess like everything else about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

28" apparently she's been lonely for some pint-size friends"- I felt a twinge of sadness readin that.
29So true Mykie. I wouldn't trade places with Katie Holmes for anything.
30I just think it's pathetic to discuss a child who's not living by her own choices... but I'm a mother and I couldn't imagine adults publicly crucifying my children. But she's Katie and Tom's kid...guilty as charged, obviously.
31Mykie... the doll comment was just the header writer's idea of sarcasm at a child's expense. Pick on somebody your own size!!!
32Suri is so cute !Katie, you have to do afterall with her bang (of hair) ...
33Mesay, I wasn't picking on anyone! I really feel sorry for her!
34i'm glad katie dresses her conservatively! people toss around the term "age appropriate" when talking about little girls in short shorts or halter tops, but IMO, dressing kids in flashy ed hardy tshirts or leather jackets is equally age-inappropriate.
35I agree -- it's time to trim Suri's bangs. They're poking into her eyes.
When I see something like this, I'm so thankful to my Mom. Bless her heart, she had always kept me and my sister groomed and presentable when we were children.
36I've never seen toddler clothes in short shorts, leather jackets or halter tops. Yech. LOL.
37That certainly wasn't what I was talking about AT ALL. LOL. I simply meant there are designers who makes top and sweaterss and pretty dresses and leggings and tights all in fun and whimsical colors and prints that children love so much, and these are designer clothes that are built for fun, comfort and play (while looking adorable).
This whole thing about Suri and dresses though, keep in mind some little kids are very headstrong about their wardrobe. A good friend of mine had a little girl that R E F U S E D to wear anything but dresses for about 2 years. If they tried to put her in one, it was a never ending fit. So, to make THEIR lives easier they let her wear them. She outgrew it and became the biggest tomboy I've ever seen. Could be Suri's choice to wear those, after all from everything we've heard, Suri doesn't get told No.
38Wow Broadway actresses get so much attention? i`m sure there is loads of better ones, who never get to be mentioned anywhere.
Suri seems to be spoiled already. Oh just wait when she grows up, Katie.
39Cutest out of all the celeb kids, but she needs a haircut!
40You know, I really hope they don't raise Suri to be a spoiled little you-know-what. The child is always getting photographed, and she never smiles. But she is a pretty little thing.
41I actually prefer little girls in dresses, Mykie, and love to see them wearing them. That's exactly what I mean--there are tons of designers who cater to little girls who love frocks by making them in fun colors and prints and in more playful cotton fabrics etc. Some boutiques in my area are like walking into a candy store of dresses--so unbelievably cute.
But it is obviously Katie who is buying the plain, almost drab monotone hues and formal fabrics, etc. The dresses are not my issue at all, it's the way she doesn't put any fun or color or whimsy into this toddler's wardrobe. I guess it's true Suri is considered an adult in her household!
42I get ya Shannon, but my comment was more to the people that say "How come she never wears pants?" than it was to you. I happen to agree that the dresses are rather boring.
43I really like Katie's plaid shirt, its so cute. I'm not going to comment on Suri.
44Too cute ! I love how they're kind of matching with the red [:
45That scarlet red is really striking with Suri's complexion.
I always feel bad for her because she never seems to be around other kids. It wouldn't be difficult to enroll her in some kids gym or music classes when they are in a city for a while, like these months in NY.
At two she needs to start developing some social skills with peers. It doesn't have to be play dates with other celeb kids. But raising her in isolation with only adults would be cruel and make it difficult for her to get along with people when she's older.
46Ooh I forgot about Michelle Williams and Katie starring in Dawsons together. It would be cute if they got together and had the girls be friends too. Oh well, if Katie and Suri are lonely, at least they have each other.
