Katie Holmes hit the stage to perform in All My Sons on Broadway last night, but this time it was different. It was the show's official opening night and Katie's smile was bigger than ever as she took her bow and posed outside after the play. Of course, Tom Cruise was there to support his wife and I'm sure found time to gush even more about her performance at the after party. The only damper on the evening was the protesters against Scientology out to make a scene. After last night's big show, the first reviews are out and while they're a mixed bag for Katie and the production in general, it's a pretty big accomplishment for the actress. Congrats to Katie who deserves every standing ovation she gets.

that white outfit should be burned
1well she designed it herself
2oh right she is a designer now..hmm
3sure is
4yeah that katie being designer does not work at all. biggest night of her career and she dressed that way? wow her taste really sucks.
i heard tom-boy was first one up clapping after the play- reports say it was like he saw his son scoring a goal in a football match.
reviews from bigger and the important ones are pretty bad. the new york times for example. that pretty much seals my theory that she has no talent.
5She's a designer now? when did this happen? where the hell have i been i didn't know this.....
6This was her official first night? Oh great, we'll have even more pictures. I hope this b*tch goes into hiding when this play finishes. She's so dull.
7Wow, Katie is usually pretty spot on with the clothing, but this is just Horrific!
8Congrats on the good show though.
Wow that outfit is all sorts of NO! plus the hair and the make up. Yikes!
9She designed that HIDEOUS white monstrosity? Was there a power outage when she did? And what's up with her bad/awkward posture??!
10She looks really happy...Kudos Katie!
)
11(why did she have to wear that mess...
wow I normally don't comment on people's outfits, but that one is all types of wrong. Really Kate, wth?
12How does she deserve a standing ovation? It's not like she was a main character. She's not even a good actress and not very good in this play as USA Today points out.
13i am fine with her designing her own clothing as long as she doesn't try to sell them to people. if she wants to dress herself that way so be it- but don't subject the rest of us to it
14She looks beautiful I think tho I dont care for the outfit. She looks so happy too. The cast are getting raves and most critics blame on the director not the cast.
15Everyone looks great and happy. I didnt recognize Patrick Wilson and I want more Christian Camargo.
Katie looks regal and Im proud of her Broadway success. Nice to see Tommy.
16Is she going for the aladdin look? That outfit would have been LOADS better if the pants were fitted. I mean, the top is cute, but it's the pants that do it in.
17I agree, fleurfairy, as to how or why should she deserve every standing ovation. It is because she is such an accomplished stage actress with brilliant career achievements behind her... or because her life with all Tom Cruise's millions is so tough and such a personal challenge to overcome? LOL
And wowza that outfit is bad.
18Looking at that white outfit, I'd say the protesters weren't the only damper on the evening.
But I can picture little Tom leaping out of his seat to clap and hoot in an otherwise tepid audience.
19maybe it wouldn't have looked AS bad if it wasn't flippin WHITE! yikes...
20Katie's face and eyes are truly beautiful. Ive seen clips of the play and heard some audio and I agree with some critics on the directing of the play. My problem lies with their voice projections. I dont get why the cast have to sound overly passionate and hyper? I know actors from the TV and movie classics act and sound even kiss different from today's Hollywood but still I didnt like how they sounded in this play. Oh well what do I know about theatre.LOL!
21in terms of talent: michelle 1- katie 0
22in terms of rich scary husband. michelle 0- katie 1
Not a fan of the dress but gotta admit Katie is sooo pretty. This is expected from the extreme director Simon McBurney. Im smiling over the fact that Katie's harshest critics admired her performance especially Republican Network Fox News and the moron Ted Casablanca.
23first of all, I thought this play already started....second, when the _____ did she become a designer...gimme a break, that outfit is hideously tacky...nice lace and ankle chokers
24She seriously has no fashion sense at all
25I don't get it, she was so stylish not long ago, but now, she looks hurrendous
26Mykie...Aladdin ?!?!
On the other hand I think she looks very sweet in the first pic, with the 40s long hair, very romantic.
Why, oh why, all these singers/actresses think they can be actresses/singers/clothes designers/housewares designers/make-up designers etc etc etc....don't they know the Renaissance has been over for more than 500 years?
27Congrats to the whole team for doing a marvelous job and its obvious Katie and everyone were glowing. Im in awe with the fact people watched this old school play and enjoyed it and nothing to do with nudity like Kidman and Daniel Radcliffe lured most of the attention.
28Its working well for Katie. Her talent is being recognized and tho the production is getting mixed reviews this non musical play is a hit. Kidman was robbed of the Tony nods because of the controversial nudity. Former P.Diddy got harsh reviews, Jen Garner got good reviews but her play tanked,Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington filled seats but their reviews were not good either.
Morgan Freeman is getting good reviews but his play is tanking.
Well, this is definitely good for her. She needs to do her own things and try to be herself instead for simply being Tom's wife. As much as I can't stand Tom Cruise, this has nothing to do with Scientology. So there was no reason for the protests imo.
29Wow. She looks pretty, uh, bland.
30WOW AND I THOUGHT THE OUTFIT DEMI MOORE DESIGNED TO WEAR AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS WAS BAD..YIKES...
31NEW YORK PAPERS SAY AND I QUOTE "KATIE'S A DUD ON BROADWAY...." SO TAKE IT FROM THERE....
I sometimes wonder why some of these actors decide out of the blue to do Broadway. It takes a special/certain talent to do it, and a bland actress will never have luck. I feel bad the reviews aren't so good. At least her friends and family came to support her on her opening night. She looks incredibly happy in these pics.
32absolutely adorable
33Totally hate the outfit but she looks sweet and happy. I admire her that even with her her life, career and fashion so under the microscope all the time but she rises to the pressure and handles everything with such grace and poise.
I dont get why some media and people have to compare Nicole and Katie's abilities when both are beautiful and talented in their different ways. What does botox have to do with Kidman? journalism so dead nowadays.
But Katie has her rainbow because as the news said the Anonymous group are giving up and the people are driving them away.
34i was kind of hoping that they would have raving reviews cause i just love katie, but at least we know that there are other projects in the pipeline if she chooses- i.e. eli stone and maybe some other movies if she can.
i love her regardless of what other people say.
35yeah, no.
36Aladdin's pants are not flattering.
So she made a mistake with the aladin look. She's usually very, very well dressed. I allow her this mistake! We all make them and it makes us (and her) a lot more interesting.
37I hope she grows her hair back--the wig looks awesome on her!
sky, you're right. But if she designed it, SOMEONE'S got to tell her to step AWAY from that design.
Flyingroo, TELL ME I'M WRONG! LMAO
I am a fan of Katie. I don't know much at all about scientology, so I can't really say if the protesters are right or not. However, my thought is that it's OK to protest as long as you do it peacefully and without hindering others. It says they made "A scene", and if that's the case then they ought to be arrested. They have the right to "Assemble" because of the constitution, but that DOESN'T give them the right to interfere. It really kind of makes me mad because stunts like that give ALL protesters a bad name, and some of them are VERY peaceful about it. Unless they live in Portland, OR that is. LOL
38that outfit makes me want to
ekkk!
39She's a darling and you go girl. Poor Michelle Williams fans so jealous and are the ones bashing. Learn some class from Katie Holmes.
40Good to see the fans and stars support this play. Tom looks so proud of her and cheers to this talented and beautiful young actress.
41
So sick of these posts about her, she isn't even the lead actress in the play! I like the
top part of her outfit, but the Aladdin pants killed it.
42ha learning class from katie holmes is pretty much fashion-suicide.
michelle williams fan or not- people in their right mind do know who is the classy one of them.
