Colin Farrell makes bad look so GOOD!
Sometimes I feel like I am one of a only a few fans of Colin Farrell. Much to my husband's dismay, I think that Colin is a total hottie. What I like most about him is that he's soooo NOT PERFECT. He's not one of these pretty boy, over tanned, glowing god male celebs. As a matter of fact he seems rather... ordinary!
I hear so often about how much of a mess he is and I just don't get it. I agree, he is not very "polished". He curses, he drinks (allegedly he has stopped), loves "spending time" with the ladies (typically for only a few hours--lucky gals), and isn't very well acquainted with the art of ironing his clothes--But does that make him bad? I actually think that's his appeal. In a world where it seems like REAL MEN--the rough and tumble kind--have disappeared, I think Colin is quite refreshing.
I have never met the man, but he seems to have a really grounded personality. In his interviews he is somewhat insecure, charming, loves his family and Ireland, and is absolutely hilarious. He seems like he would be a cool guy to hang out with.
I have seen 90% of his movies. And I would say he is a "talented" actor. I don't think I have seen an Oscar worthy performance from him yet, but he's certainly not the horrible actor that some might claim. I feel like he could make slightly better choices with the scripts he accepts, but his movies are generally entertaining. The only CF movie I have abhorred was Alexander. I don't think that was his fault though. Oliver Stone, although rather accomplished, is a hit or miss director. Sometimes he nails it, other times he over does it...Alexander was the latter.
But I digress...Let's examine the bad that makes Colin sooo GOOD:
1. His drinking and partying---Supposedly Colin stopped drinking and had a stint in rehab for an addiction to prescription drugs. Okay, what celebrity hasn't? This is not news anymore. People become celebrities...celebrities go to rehab...celebrities emerge from rehab with a fresh perspective. Like I said...This is not news. Next-
2. He openly speaks about his inability commit to a monogamous relationship (at this stage in his life). OK-- a man that actually tells the truth about his whoring ways:-). I'm sorry that just can't be bad! Think about it...the only real difference about Colin's sexual exploits and other men in Hollywood (or men in general)is his honesty. Furthermore--I could honestly care less about who he "gets it on with"! How is this information helping me again??...
3. Smoking/Cursing/Wrinkled Clothes and messy hair--Ok...these are ALL traits of HOTNESS. Now maybe Colin's not exactly the poster child for the Lung Cancer Prevention or the icon of using proper English, but who cares???? Personally, I don't want my kids idolizing celebrities. Therefore, I have no problem with a grown man smoking, cursing, wearing shabby threads, and not combing his hair--especially if he can pull that off while looking extremely yummy! I say good for him. Colin doesn't have to be a role model to anyone except his little cuttie pie James. And you know what...that's his business.
So it is for the aforementioned reasons that I declare that Colin's bad is actual good. Or should I say hot...or yummilicous? Regardless of where you stand on his movies you have got to admit he is hot. Maybe not in the conventional everyday way. But in the edgy, hottie, and bad boy kinda way...Colin makes BAD LOOK GOOD!
PS. For my husband...I'd still choose you:-)
