The LA Lakers helped kick off the NBA season last night with their celebrity cheering section out in full force. David Beckham was front and center as usual to support his fellow professional athletes, but this time without his pint-size fans, while longtime Lakers lovers Leonardo DiCaprio and Kevin Connolly enjoyed a guys night out. Denzel Washington and his wife joked around with Governor Schwarzenegger, while Tobey Maguire watched intently. The Lakers handily defeated the Portland Trailblazers to start off a season that they and all their star fans hope is full of wins like that one.

wow - that really is the star studded sideline cheering section - i knew that there were a lot of celebs that loved the lakers, so i guess it's nice to see that they are all there to cheer the team on.

4I'm a huge Lakers fan hoping for a win this season. There are some pictures of David Beckham on another site gawking at the cheerleaders, which are pretty funny.

Wait, Leo is back on the Lakers' bandwagon now? But what happened to him jumping ship for the friggin' Celtics last year? (That was all kinds of pathetic for someone who is supposedly a lifetime Lakers fan.)
8Svenska, Leo was never a Celtics fan. He is a huge basketball fan and was filming in Boston so he attended some games. There are pics of him from the Boston v. LA series were he went to the Garden in Full Lakers regalia.

Watching the NBA season start back up makes me miss my Seattle Supersonics. Even though they usually sucked, the games were always fun to go to.

16Kevin Connolly, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire are all great friends. Tobey has season tickets, and will rotate Kevin, Leo and Lukas with them. Leo and Kevin have special front row seats that they must have gotten seperately for opening day!

17Tobey Maguire is so wonderful and beautiful; inside and outside; and I love him very, very much. Tobey Maguire would be sorely embarrassed to take me to the L.A. Lakers games with him, because I am the ugliest African-American woman in Englewood, New Jersey. I also have a lipoma on my back, and I am still scared and worried about getting it removed, as well as the results that will follow after the procedure. Besides, Tobey Maguire and I would make an ugly couple anyway, because even though I love Tobey Maguire with all my heart, and make the best pancakes and Strawberry-Banana protein shakes in the world, he and I are from two very completely different worlds, lifestyles, and colors. Also, if Tobey Maguire had married me and had children with me, then the whole world will laugh at him hysterically, and it will be ALL of my fault entirely for both embarrassing him and ruining his life completely.
