I guess you can see that I love SJP - but do you think she has time to actually sit down and study all the issue AND the viable OPTIONS to Obama and McCain? She's a smart cookie, but it seems most celebs don't have the time to do much but go with the mainstream. I think only a complete idiot would vote for Obama (that is in response to someone's remark) How can you vote for a man that has his birth certificate sealed and his records from Yale? There is no proof he is a U.S. citizen. His associations are shady to say the very least and taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Marxism anyone? Apparently so, because people are just so excited to vote for this smooth talking "messiah" when they have NO idea what he is actually going to do for this country. Joe Biden's comment on how this country will be tested within the first 6 mos, meaning some sort of attack on us, doesn't concern any of the Obama lovers. We won't fight back. As an Australian I find the accusations that Obama is a socialist really quite laughable. I don't believe the majority of Americans are that mean that they wouldn't want some of their tax dollars to go toward helping those who are less fortunate, including those who can't afford health care - but if you're going to be labeled as some left wing nut job for doing so, it's no wonder people keep quiet. Health care is a basic human right, and governments should do everything in their power to provide it, incl. taxing those who earn more. Isn't that the Christian thing to do, to help other? Seriously. Team Obama!

It's nice to see SJP volunteering for Obama. It doesn't make me like her more or less. I think it's funny how some people dislike her now just because she is doing this...so does that mean you don't associate with people who are of a different party affiliation either? I could understand it if she was publicly endorsing him, but she does have a right to support a candidate like every other American citizen. And almost every celebrity that is involved in politics has endorsed Obama, so it's not like it's anything new. A celebrity doesn't affect my vote either way, I decided to vote for Obama a looong time ago.

The reason that a large number of Americans don't want their tax dollars put into certain social programs doesn't make them mean.Many government programs have been continually abused, and tax money has been given to able bodied people who can work, but continually abuse the system. We're not mean, we're frustrated. I have no problem helping those who truly merit assistance, but the existing programs (that Democrats want to keep alive) are broken and have been abused for far too long. Yes, it's time for a change. But, I'm afraid that Obama will do nothing to fix this problem, but will perpetuate it by socking more tax dollars into it.

You bring an interesting perspective as a non-American lisa101. Many other countries have a "socialized" health-care system and would want it no other way. Unfortunately, many Americans don't use common sense and instead allow themselves to buy into the far right, conservative fear tactics. WOW whether you support Obama or McCain .....we all have to admit that this shows an incredible amount of inniative on her part. It's one thing for celebrities to profess their love for a particular candidate...but to get down and dirty and be willing to call voter to voter to discuss the issues is really commendable.
