I watched the Lakehouse starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock a while back.
Today at lunch I got to rewatch the ending. I need help, lol.
As I understand the premise, Sandra Bullock (Kate) and Keanu Reeves (Alex) are communicating but they are separated by 2 years time. She is in 2006 and he in still in 2004. I can suspend belief, no problem, I watch network television. But it has to add up, and there’s something I don’t understand.
They are two years apart, but time is progressing naturally for both. When they arrange the date at Il Mare, he makes the reservations two years and one day ahead, for her, it’s one days time.
When Kate is in the architectural firm at the end, she sees the picture of the lake house and asks about it. Is it not supposed to be 2006 then? But she is told Alex died two years earlier, which would it 2004.
Shouldn’t it be 2008 for Kate’s character?
Kate also tells Alex about the accident that kills him, although she doesn’t realize it’s him at the time. Since she speaks of it, it’s already happened right?
But at the end she is sitting there, on Valentines day 2006? She isn’t a time traveler, so how does this happen?
Or am I confused?
