Gwyneth Paltrow was in Paris last night for the premiere of her movie Two Lovers. Earlier this year she screened the film at Cannes, and once again her costar Joaquin Phoenix was a no-show. He appears to be sticking to his decision to give up acting, but their director James Gray was able to step in and walk the red carpet with Gwyneth. Fashion icon Catherine Deneuve was also on hand to lend some glamour to the evening, though all eyes were probably on Gwyneth in that racy lace dress.

1I didn't know Chris Martin had a thing for French maids. No offense meant for the French or maids. Just the dress.
2At first I thought that dress is tacky! Then I realized its not so bad its actually sexy in a lingerie inspired way, weird way. But what makes the dress great is how confident Gwyneth looks wearing it. Beauty and sexiness definitely come from within first!

as for the joaquin thing - i think that as much as he's saying that he wants out of acting, it's just wrong of him to not even show up to promote the movie. that's kind of pompous if you think about it.

18That's a nasty dress; it looks like she bought it from Frederick's of Hollywood. I'm with ilanac13 on not showing up to promote the movie. Just because he quit acting doesn't mean he shouldn't live up to his responsibilities related to a past acting gig.

23while i'm glad she is wearing underwear- it ruins the look of the dress. they should have made the black part at the boobs and crotch darker and wider to cover and then she should have went underwear less.

27I like her dress, but I wish you couldn't see the sides of the underwear. That looks kind of odd to me. Couldn't they have put some sort of paneling in there to make it look sheer, but not actually show the sides of her panties?
