Ashlee Simpson is ready to pop in the very near future, and her dad Joe took yet another opportunity to speak up about her pregnancy before becoming a grandpa. He gushed that Ashlee and Pete will make great parents and that Ash is officially an adult now, saying, "The day she found out she was pregnant, she became a woman." We know he's probably just excited, but tell us — has Joe Simpson gotten better about speaking out over the years?

If my dad said that, I would be so embarrassed even at my age. It doesn't sound sweet, it sounds icky. I think I know what he's saying. He's saying she's grown up now and worrying about adult things, but the way he says it is just so wrong. It makes me very uncomfortable.

well it's been a while since we've heard from him so i think that he's learning, but i don't know if he's figured out how to stay completely mum. i also think that something must have changed if jess and tony are still together since we know that he was partly to do with things being on the rocks before.

Joe Simpson has always creeped me out. He seems like a dad who "accidentally" walks in on his daughters changing. Sorry that was gross, but that's the vibe I get from him. He also seems like a stage dad, I heard a recent quote from him that was something about making Jessica do a couple more stops on her country tour "whether she wants to or not."
