Last week Jennifer Aniston got sexy for Vogue, but this week we just get a playful head shot for her New York Times Magazine cover. In the article Jen takes a little break from talking about Marley & Me and her personal life, and instead opens up about her other upcoming project and reflects on Friends. Here are highlights:

- On her upcoming movie: "I wish it was She's Just Not That Into You! Unfortunately, it's He's Just Not That Into You. The other would be more empowering."
- On watching reruns of Friends: "There are times I don’t even remember that particular show. This is horrible to say, but there are times when I laugh my rear end off. And I get in debates with people who are over and say, 'Friends' is not my thing.' Excuse you!"
- On whether or not Friends would be a hit show today: "Hard to tell — that was a different time," Aniston says. "Now TV has too much to do with celebrity. We have reality television, where people try to become celebrities...."
Jen also revealed that she was nervous she'd never get any movie roles after being on a hit sitcom for so long, but with all her success it sounds like she's gone above and beyond her expectations.

I didn't like several movies she did but it wasn't because I loved Friends, it was because the stories sucked, she should choose better films
1I can't believe anybody would tell her to her face that they didn't like Friends! How rude. She looks adorable here.
2I like this picture of her. Very cute!
3That is a cute picture. I saw "The Break-up" again the other night and I forgot how funny that movie is!
4great pic. my friend is the art director at the ny times mag. it's a great magazine to be on. kudos to her...
5Not exactly my role model when it comes to female "empowerment".
6Aww that is a cute article and picture. I love that she has people tell her they don't like "Friends", too funny!
7Ditto Speaklikeachild - horrible movies.
And ditto Tiabia.
8Hehe she looks like Zoolander in this pic...very goofy...
9Jen you look so nice in this pic. can't wait to see you in the movies. just love ya..
10penguins268
She does!
Tiabia - word.
11Friends is the only show I ever watch anymore...of course it would still kick ass.
12well it's really impressive that she's managed to cross over and really become an Alister. i hope that we get to see more of her. i'm sad that 'he's just not that into you' has been pushed back cause i'm really excited about that one - but i guess the delay just adds to the build up!
13Like I'd believe she's into empowering females...PLEASE!!!!!!! I also wouldn't put her into movies, because she's just not that great of an actress. The lone film she got kudos for was a film where her character was dull and monotone...which is how I see her on film. She's just Rachel Green, a/a/f! She should just stick to TV.
Can someone explain that "Friends isn't my thing" line?
I also get into debates with people who say they don't like Friends! That show is sooooo funny! I love Chandler and Monica!
14I have to admit that I've been kind of avoiding her films since the Good Girl, that movie was awful. However if she can pull off a good movie, I definitely come right back.
15I love her, her films are mediocre but they are fun to watch because she's in them. The Breakup was a good film, she's already been on television for 10 years so I don't find the need to criticize her acting skills, she's just having fun, and when the time comes the right movie will come along which will be great.
16I haven't seen the Good Girl in it's entirety but I thought it was the best movie she did. I'm actual would prefer is she would do more serious roles and lay off the funnies. I do like this pic with the big hair and winky eye.
17I love Friends. I have all the seasons on dvd and watch them regularly. I love it. Always makes me laugh or cry.
18I like this pic of her, it's different.
19she is adorablee! =]
20I'm now a Friends watcher and it's a funny show pretty much always. That said, I have never figured out why she was considered the standout in the beauty dept. Friends With Money is a good movie and I really like her in it. It's an ensemble too. Maybe that's her forte, ensembles.
21Friends is still my all-time favorite show. I don't understand why she would have people over who tell her that they hate the show that made her (their host) a star. Kinda bizarre.
22Audrey - I didn't understand that statement at first but what I think she means is that she has had people come over to her house that tell her that they dislike or don't care for Friends, and she defends herself against them.
23Audrey - I agree, that line "Friends is not my thing" lost me too.
I hate to admit it, but the only movie of Jennifer's that I have really enjoyed is "Rumor Has it" and I think that was primarily because of Shirley MacLain and Mark Ruffalo....but Jennifer did a good job. It was a good date movie.
I agree with you cupcakers, I see no need to criticize her acting skills but she just hasn't had the right movie yet.
24I thought the Good Girl was one of her best films. I've seen every film she's been in except a 1998 film called Thin Pink Line, and I don't think she's got much of an acting range. Friends is a fine light comedy. In film it's always some variation of the girl with relationship trouble in a contemporary setting. Her one effort at drama (Derailed) wasn't very good.
She has multiple movies long finished that are delayed, some can't get a distributor, some pushed back to February, which is like the dead zone for film releases. These days she makes more headlines for her personal life than any of her work.
But last week she was in the headlines about her ex-husband and this week she's talking about Friends. Is this woman trapped in the year 2004?
25I like her movies. I just prefer the type of movies that she
26makes. I am sure she will always have fond thoughts of Friends.
I still watch it. I think Marley and Me is going to be really
good, it's serious but yet funny. She and Owen should both be
good in it. Like the picture above.
She was really great in The Good Girl, and I also enjoyed Bruce Almighty & Along Came Polly but none of her other movies have been very good in my opinion.
27i think it's weird to have people over and have the tv on, and more strange to have YOUR old tv show on. seriously, that's odd.
28Jen sounds confused and mixed up.
29Jen looks amazing. Gotta give it to her. She is polished to perfection. She looked flawless on Oprah! Despite being 40.
Much better than Morticia, with dark clothes and weird part in that dark, flat hair.
30Normally I am not a big fan but that is a great photo of her.
31Love her in this pic..so nutty!!!!Marley and Me opens December 25th-I can not wait. She and Owen will be fun to watch with Marley!!!Also I love her acting..TGG was her best..also loved TBU and FWM...Object of My Affection was adorable!!!
32She looked flawless on Oprah! Despite being 40.
Much better than Morticia, with dark clothes and weird part in that dark, flat hair.
Jen wore all black on Oprah last week so what is the point about dark clothing?
All Jen has is her polished presentation, after countless days spent in yoga classes and spa treatments. Too bad she hasn't worked so hard on her acting. She might have more range.
Perhaps this is the core of difference between Angelina fans and Jennifer fans. Jennifer has a live satellite feed of her dogs and talks about a Duncan Hines cake she made. Angelina talks about her children, the love of her life, and her humanitarian work. Some people like the shiny package and other people prefer what's inside.
33Well said Ginger! Except, Angelina is the shiny package and whats inside too...lucky Brad.
34Jenn is empty and can not act at all!
She looks so cute in this pic.
35i still watch friends reruns. makes me laugh all the time!! and the mag's front cover is perfect!
36Ginger, you forgot to mention that Angie also talks about her sex life details (who wants to know that?!?!?!...please!!!) and yeah, she talks about the love of her life...a few years ago that was Billy Bob (in that romantic "I carry his blood around my neck" way) now is Brad and maybe it doesn't stop there!!
I do admire that Angelina does an effort and cares for bigger causes...but doing that doesn't make her a better person than me or Jen or you...you can be selfless and caring and make a difference with the people who are right next to you...it's about your attitude towards others (whether they're your neighbour or a people somewhere in Africa)...
That being said...It is true that Jennifer always fall into the same kind of characters (except for Derailed) but I don't recall seeing Angelina ever doing comedy...the only time she tried was Mr. and Mrs. Smith and that movie was terrible!!!I've heard opinions of actors saying that comedy can be so much harder to do than drama...a good joke won't make you laugh if said the wrong way, with the wrong timing whereas a strong, suffered story will immediately bring out your emotions...even if it's told in a robotic way (and I'm not saying Angelina acts in a robotic way, I think she is a good actress!!)
37One flippant line from her husband at the time, over five years ago, and people are willing to define her personality by that forever? How many people want to be judged forevermore by something said by them or their spouse when they were around 25?
People change. It doesn't make them liars, just growing up. Look at some of the other actors who made huge life changes like Stephen Baldwin and Mel Gibson, since they got deeply into their religion.
Jolie has done some comedy films--some comedy/romance; Pushing Tin, Life or Something Like It, Love Is All There Is. Along with a wide range of period pieces, drama, mystery, thrillers, etc.
38I mentioned that line but it wasn't the only flippant thing (to use the same words)she said or did back then!!And I'm not in any way trying to define her personality since I don't know her at all...But in the same way, it's as questionable to try to define someones personality because they do yoga or talk about their dogs!!!!
So I guess I'm misinformed about Angelina Jolie's complete filmography...my bad!!And even though those films you've mentioned weren't exactly her brightest career moves (not to even mention "Wanted"!!), I do think she is a good actress!!
39There's no need to compare. My mother has been involved in humanitarian causes for many, many years and has thought me about the importance of it since I was a little girl. I traveled with her around the world and I care a lot about helping and fighting for human rights. That was long before Angelina even started to work for UNHCR. But we both like Jennifer. Does this mean we are superficial?
Don't forget that Angelina is where she is because she is pretty. Sure, she's done some very good roles but why do most people know her? Because of her beauty, and because of her action films. If she would have been ugly, she wouldn't be married to Brad Pitt and wouldn't be a big Hollywood star. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Wanted, The Tomb Rider movies... were all those movies about meaningful subjects? Wanted was so dumb and the violence was completely gratuitous that I felt almost insulted when I watched it.
I like Jennifer simply because I think she's funny, graceful and has a sense of humor. She always seems happy and thankful for what she has. That's it.
40Friends was the best show ever! Its true what she said about it being a different time, now reality tv has taken over
41she is always very sweet.
42she looks really good, and i thought she looked very pretty on oprah, i agree she wears black better because she has assets, unlike angie she looks gaunt all the time, she has huge breasts but a scrawny body but angie is pretty
43She sounds very savvy actually and quite straight forward about stuff
44Ninha when did AJ talk about her sex life? I'm curious to know. I know she has said B was good in bed once, and laughed a long time ago but that was because a reporter asked, is he good in bed? And she laughed and went yes! But that was the only time I know.
45Ginger Jolie sucks at comedy! Sorry girl
All the films you have mentioned were
really terrible and i am pretty it did received terrible reviews also, life as you like it was very bad, and pushing thin? The most terrible film I've ever seen, really not kidding here. I
wanna see Changeling though. I think she's good with drama and action movies (though I don't rate that smith film much), I think if they weren't so wrapped up in that divorce and affair, mr
and mrs smith wouldn't have made so much money.
46I think she was considered the top beauty of the Friends girls only AFTER she started dating Brad Pitt, she was also the curviest for a while, before she went A-List.
I AM a fan of BOTH A.Jolie and Jen Aniston, Aniston is obviously better at comedy and Jolie is better at drama (in my opinion, not at all based on seeing every single movie by each ever made). With one exception, the Good Girl which was fantastic, Jen's best. To be fair it was something of a quirky comedy which was only a small stretch from the mainstream comedic roles she's had before and since.
However I am not a fan of Brad Pitt.
47(curviest = sexiest)
48Am I the only one who doesn't like Aniston here??
49Come on people, let's just say it: Jen is NOT the best actress. I think she is adorable and am absolutely not hating on her but her film choices have absolutely sucked. Hope Marley and Me does well...
