Pete Wentz took a day off from his new daddy duties to film FNMTV and get festive to tape an MTV Christmas special in LA on Monday. Though Pete has to get back to work, he had plenty to say about his first few days with his new family in an interview with Ryan Seacrest this morning. Here are highlights:
- On the baby: "He's beautiful. He's perfect. We were instantly in love. It's impossible not to be!"
- On the name Bronx Mowgli: "I feel weird — people have all these ideas of what it means now. I think it's kind of cool to leave the narrative the way it is. People are stoked or pissed or whatever . . . I don't think anybody knows the real story of why or how. We came up with the idea Bronx, we'd been throwing it back and forth a while ago. The Jungle Book is something me and Ashlee bonded over. It's really cool."
- On Ashlee: "She's pretty much a saint. Right before she went into labor, I was pretty much like, 'Oh my God, I think I'm having a heart attack.' Natural things start going on in your body. My heart started beating really fast. You seen your wife in all this pain, and you really don't know what's happening. She's a amazing girl. She was like, 'I will make sure you're OK.' I didn't even stop to think, 'Well, you just had an epidural and you're about to have a baby!'"
- On friends and family wanting to see the baby: "Yeah, it's like opening a new spot in LA. Everyone's trying to get in every night — they're like, 'No, I know Pete, kind of.' I'm like, you do not have a plus-one."
Being a new parent is a full-time job, but it sounds like Pete and Ashlee make a great team and are enjoying every moment so far. We can't wait to see the couple out and about showing off their little boy when he's ready for the world.

aw I'm happy for them
1Who actually cares about him, Asslee and their baby with the silly name?
2Does Bronx get to hang out with Brooklyn Beckham?
3well thats nice
4Hehehe Jude!
He sounds like any new excited daddy.
5I'm going to name my kid Istanbul. Beat that, Wentz!
6well it's always nice to hear how the father is affected by the birth of their child, and this case is kind of text book. i think that pete sounds kind of young and naive about things, but i guess that it works for their happy little family right? i hope that they are continuing to do well.
7How about Mongolia or Transylvania, Jude? Both of those are kind of catchy.
8I try to find them endearing, but I just plain don't. Annoying. I wish the whole Simpson clan would move to the moon.
9"Ulaanbaatar Transylvania"
My kid's going to hate me for life.
10Ha ha Jude... you should probably throw a Disney charater in for good measure. Malificent or something like that.
11"Ulaanbaatar Transylvania Maleficent"
Yes! And the great thing is that it would work equally poorly for a boy or a girl
12Beautiful name. I just hope no one steals it.
Your kid will be scarred for life.
13Wait till the kid asks why I gave him/her such a terrible name. I'll be all, "Well, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson did it. So did Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani. What are you, too good for a silly celebrity baby name?"
14That's right. Ulaanbaatar, Brooklyn, Bronx, Zuma, and Inspector Pilot can all have a play date or something.
15I'm happy for them, but bonding over the jungle book is no excuse to name your kid mowgli, yikes!
16I knew Pete & Ashlee would give their baby a crazy name just to be like every other celebrity couple. I'm sorry, but there is no reason that your baby should be named Bronx. Pete, Ashlee, and Bronx? No. What's next? Manhattan.
17I like your baby name idea, Jude
18Then when the second one comes out, I'll name it Jane if it's a girl and John if it's a boy.
19Of course Jude. It's the only sensible thing to do.
20What a great inspiration... I'm gonna name my child Manhattan Aladdin if it is a boy and BelAir Arielle! LOL
21BelAir Arielle for a girl I wanted to say
22Its sweet to name your child something meaningful, not just something that sounds cool. don't judge a book by its cover...i think the choice is great, and everyone should stop complaining that they should have named their child something else. Its a personal choice, and they are only accountable to each other, not to everyone else.
23We're not complaining, that's none of our business... We're just making fun of it xD
24You guys are funy
25It might be a crazy name, but I'm happy for them. Pete's kinda cute too
i'm sorry but there is no excuse to name your baby that
26Who's complaining? They've inspired me.
BelAir Arielle sounds great, BTW!
27Wentz is such a douche.
28Hannah Love is gonna be my daughter's name (not even pregnant yet)....and I'm going to call her "Halo" lmao....douche deluxe is Pete
29JudeC, Silvia/Silvana are real names where I come from, coming from the Latin for forest! In fact Transilvania (the native spelling) means exactly that, the land that's beyond the forest. Silvia was a common name among the Roman women.
So you see, it's only a too common name, you better stick to Ulaanbaatar!
30I think "lower east side" would have been perfect.
I can't believe they really DID name the child after the Jungle book. Oh wait, yes I can.
31I'm gonna name my child flatbush, i think it's a great name and I think it's unisex
32"Silvia/Silvana are real names where I come from, coming from the Latin for forest!"
I love those names, flyingroo--I didn't even think about the fact that they're in "Transylvania"!
"Lower East Side"...
33If the Jungle Book had a special meaning for them, why didn't they do a themed nursery or something, and buy the books and movies for him instead of naming him that? Don't they realize that their cute little baby will eventually grow into an adult man? It's their personal business, and I'm sure this baby is very loved, but that kinda sux for the kid about his name.
34I can't wait to see the kid. His parents are attractive, so I can't wait to see his adorable little face!
As for the name, it doesn't roll off the tongue very well, buuuuuuuuut...it could be worse.
35Strange couple...strange name for the kid. Makes sense.
36There are some things that might be special for a couple but that doesn't mean it works for a child's name.
We should start taking bets as to how many of these weirdly named children change their name when their 18... haha
37What if I fell in love with Mr. Right in Compton and we bonded over Dumbo, does that mean i should name my child Compton Dumbo?
There should be a name generator for this. Insert name of city + Disney character = Baby name.
[Disclaimer: I never really been to Compton and Dumbo is definitely not my favorite Disney character
]
38I like Compton Dumbo!
39californagirl's rules:
40New York City Jiminy Cricket - what would you call that child? NYC? new?
What about "Broadway, 103rd north east corner Pocahontas"?!
41californiagirl, that#s a great idea by the way ^.^
42I understand better their choice and I'm still more super happy for them
43Haha 'you do not have a plus one to see the baby'. People do go crazy over them!
