Australia hits theaters today [1], but Nicole Kidman took a break from her busy press schedule to present a petition against violence towards women at the United Nations in NYC yesterday. As a UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador, Nicole talked about how happy she was to get over 5 million signatures, saying [2], “We thought that the more names we collected, the stronger our case to make ending violence against women a top priority for governments everywhere. Well, the results are in. We’ve tallied the numbers from Bangkok and Tanzania, from Ecuador to Fiji, from Jordan to India. I am so delighted to announce that they have far, far, surpassed our goal." Nicole's philanthropic projects [3] have always been as important to her as films, and hopefully she can inspire others to do some good deeds this holiday season [4] as well.
