Kate and Ryder got into the holiday spirit over the weekend as they stepped out in LA to pick out the perfect Christmas tree. With the economy in a recession, Kate said in a recent interview that she is concentrating on a new DIY hobby, knitting, to make gifts this year. She also told a sweet story about Ryder learning how to ski. Here's more:
- On Ryder learning to ski: "I’m standing there in my skis and I’m looking up and all of a sudden I see this little kid in camouflage and I’m like, 'No!' He is just zooming down the mountain and I started to cry ... It was a big little moment. Now he’s going to be terror. So the helmet is on. I’m going to put like those rubber things on the bottom of his skis so that he doesn’t go too fast."
- On marriage: "I don't know if I'll ever get married again. I don't know... It depends on who you end up with. . . I don’t regret a second of my marriage...Thank God for Chris. He made me partly who I am...We had a great time. We love each other deeply. We have an amazing son [Ryder]."
It's no surprise that Ryder wants to be a bad boy like his dad, but it sounds like he's in for a pretty sweet and low-key holiday season with his family.

6well when you have millions and so does most of the rest of your family you can buy whatever you want whenever you want it anyways...i think homemade things mean more in situations like that...kinda like Sandra Bullock making her husbans wedding ring in his welding shop!

8That's touching about her crying at Ryder's independence, it must be so bittersweet for parents to watch their babies growing up so fast. On a separate not, I would see Ryder whizzing down a hill in ski gear, his long hair blowing in the wind, and think "I love it when little girls are sporty tomboys."

11I would much prefer a handmade gift for Christmas or a birthday, than something bought from a store. Handmade stuff has so much thought and effort put into it.
I like how mature her relationship with Chris is. I can't even stand to look at my ex, let alone say those kinds of things about him!

13i know that i'm not alone in saying that i wish that they would just get back together - but that's just me. i am a sucker for happy endings and i would be thrilled if they were able to make it work.

15Yeah her and Chris were perfect together, it's great that they are still close. But I have a feeling down the road they may reunite again. I love her style, but what is up with Ryder's over sized shirt and shorts?! haha

17I wish she hadn't left Chris for Owen Wilson...I think Kate and Chris were great together, too bad they couldn't work it out. I think Ryder's adorable and that story about him skiing was really touching.
Btw I like Kate's outfit, especially the booties.
