Katie Holmes and her parents took Suri Cruise around NYC and to The Nutcracker this weekend while Tom Cruise posed with fans out promoting Valkyrie. Tom recently revealed he needs to work on his acting skills for his toughest critic, Suri, who didn't believe him as Santa Claus last year. As for her Christmas gifts under the tree, Tom said Suri loves dolls and stuffed animals, which isn't such a big surprise. This morning, Tom was on The Today Show to sit down live with Matt Lauer again and talk about their infamous last interview. Tom said of looking back on it:
"It's not what I had intended. I thought, in looking at myself, I thought, I came across as arrogant . . . That's one of those things you go 'okay I could have absolutely handled that better'. . . I didn't communicate it the way that I wanted to communicate it. That's not who I am . . . I take responsibility for it and I learned a good lesson."
He went on to talk about his happiness with Katie, his thoughts about more kids, Scientology, and Valkyrie, which you can watch below. To see the video plus more photos of the Cruises, especially adorable Suri with Katie, just read more.

Interesting that he only felt the need to apologize over two years after the fact when he has a new movie to promote.
Whispers are all over town that the financial survival of his new United Artists studio is hinged directly on Valkyrie's box office draw--and as it has a huge budget to make back, it seems rather unlikely that it will make big profits.
With all the facts of the situation taken into consideration, I find his sincerity here highly suspect to say the least.
1And "that's a question for the women" regarding whether or not they will have more children? LOL. So a dad has no say? I think he might be trying to way overcompensate for his remarks on PPD last time.
2u live and u learn, tom. IMO it wasnt that seriously but whatevs - I still love ya Lastat!
3The pic of the ballerina standing on her tiptoes makes every muscle in my body hurt!
Suri is cute as always... Katie is looking thin (eat please!)... and Tom is Tom... *sigh*
4and Suri is too cool for the sugar plum fairy, lol.
5Barf. I want to smack him in his smug face.
6Tom has ruined his image as an icon of Hollywood and no amount of contrition will wipe the image he let out the bag a couple of years ago. It's a shame but there you go. Pure nutcase. I think because he has been famous for so long and got into scietology, he has not had anyone in his life to say no you are wrong, or question his beliefs, and that has been unhealthy.
7And I want to say before the'they're so classy' comments arrive, he left his wife after 10years just after she miscarried and married someone young enough to his daughter to produce an heir to his magical kingdom. I said it in an earlier post but I feel I wanna say it again. As a woman of Katies age I feel affronted by his persona and beliefs.
8I cannot wait to see Valkyrie.
9"to produce an heir to his magical kingdom."
LOL!
10CG - I saw the trailer for Valkyrie over the weekend. I was kind of shocked that no one speaks with a German accent.
11Why would Scientologists have a Christmas tree? Ridiculous. It dilutes the true meaning of Christmas.
12Suri looks unimpressed
lisa101, I totally agree.
13I thought the same thing about the "that's a question for the women" remark Shannolyn. What an odd thing to say. It's like he had no part in making Suri, like he passed over his sperm in a turkey baster as soon as Katie said she was ready. And that can't be the case now, can it?
God love him, he'd be so attractive if he wasn't batsh*t crazy.
14Are those "Tom!" guys for real?
15Americans say Adolf wierdly. Kinda the same with Iraq
16Just an observation from the video before the same people go apesh@t at me as always do lol
17I have to agree with you lisa! You got it spot on.
18i love how quick you guys are to talk meanly about people. you only see parts of celebrities lives - the parts that the media sees - and that's not even a fraction of what life is like. how do we know that he didn't feel remorseful about all that happened 2 years ago? had he come out and tried to take the opposite side all that time ago - people would have said that it was trite and didn't mean anything.
as for the stability of UA -from what i've read in the trades, it's not all hinging on the success of his movie. there have been internal changes, and there are projects in the works - and yes this would be a good thing for EVERYONE to have the movie do well - but i think that people need to read more to understand what will come to pass before saying things aloud.
i think that it's lovely that he's so devoted to his family, and talks about having more kids. we know that katie's talked about it too - but that she wants to finish her run on broadway before even considering it. so to say that it's his choice and all that - well you can't even begin to say that - knowing that there are lots and lots of conversations that we're not privvy to.
sorry - i just don't like when people beat up on people when they just don't know the whole story.
19With all due respect, if you're referring to me post, ilanmac, I get my information from direct, live sources--not the trades.
Maybe you shouldn't be so quick yourself to judge, hmm?
20Tom is a short little toolbox
21The ballerina is Ashley Bouder! She's one of my favorites from NYCB. Suri is a lucky little girl.
22trixie, i would rather none of them speak with a german accent than to butcher it.
Think brad pitt in "the devils own"
23I think I'm the only one who LIKED the "that's a question for the women" comment. Sure, he has a part in the final product, but he's not the one carrying it around in bloat and pain for 9 months. Good for him for leaving it up to Katie if she wants more children.
24Ashley Bouder!!
25I love her. Almost as much as I love Ashlee Knapp (still out on injury leave), but I'm a tad biased.
I love seeing ballerinas here!
Totally agree with you Lisa101 - his image is ruined (and I don't believe a movie about an attempted assassination of Hitler, released at Christmas, is going to change that!)
Matt Lauer handled that interview very graciously. Tom should at least have apologised to him as well - he had been SO arrogant towards him ("You don't know the history of psychiatry, Matt, I do!"...Matt Lauer COULD have been well informed on the history of psychiatry, and has Cruise any qualifications in the study of the history of psychiatry or where were his references.?..)!
Anyhow, I for one was glad to see the original interview aired as it showed us the true colours of Cruise - arrogant, controlling, and over-confident. And yes, the apology came 3 years too late!
26One more point. I seriously doubt if paparrazzi were allowed back stage at the ballet also - so who took and released these photos??! Was this (yet another) photo op? Does every activity Suri does have to become a publicity event?!
27God bless Tom,Katie and Suri. Its sad the media and tabloids are innocent in all this???? HA!
28Details are spot on to say Tom is an ageless hottie and People magazine calling him very handsome and fit for his age.
I laugh that the haters here are some jealous Brangelina fans and Michelle Williams fans.Pathetic to the core and their own twisted hate could only backfire on their own favorite stars.
29"Was this (yet another) photo op? Does every activity Suri does have to become a publicity event?!"
Sadly, I believe the answer is yes.
Tom Cruise may be making the rounds 24/7 in an attempt to rehab his image before his Hitler Christmas movie hits theatres, but I fear poor little Suri is on the clock as well.
Usualy they try not to look so staged but these are pretty blatant.
30There you are lol.
31It's not hate being spilled here, there are questions and points that I would like Tom Cruise fans to answer. Saying God bless them doesn't do it. And isn't it Xenu they worship anyhoo?
i like tom even though i don't agree with his views on some things. but that's his opinion and he is just a passionate individual. i respect that.
32"And isn't it Xenu they worship anyhoo?"
ummm.what? i don't see why i should care who he worships. that's his believe. who am i to say it's better than to worship Jesus?
33He looks so happy and content.May I add really good looking. He has it all as in a happy family life and his successful careers along with Katie's are just icing on the cake.
34Katie and Suri are so precious! Im so happy for Tom's Golden globe nomination. Yay!!
35Unusual I was trying to make the point they don't believe in God. Not that I believe in God either but it makes more sense than some of his space cadet ideas. I'm saying all this because a couple of years ago he went around condeming every woman with post-natal depression and spouting about his new realities, and people go on how classy he is. Well if he's gonna behave like that he can't now say oh forget thatwife leaving nutjob, I'm now humble.
36I like him then now I love him more. My box office predictions for Christmas Day:
Bedtime Stories - Family movies and comedies easily wins
37Marley and Me
The Spirit
Benjamin Button(it should beat Tom's movie especially its Oscar bound and now has many awards from the Globe)
Valkyrie
Revolutionary Road
lisa:
38he apologized to brooke shields and she forgave him. and he didn't condemn every woman with post-natal depression. read between the lines. he just said there are better alternatives in his opinion than medication. i agree he didn't handle very nice the situation, but even though i didn't agree with his view that's his opinion and i respect it. i don't think he is a "nutjob" he only has a different
opinion. sorry my english is not very good, but i don't think he should be crucified for his believes.
All around great guy and his family are just lovely. No matter what he has many fans. Online haters are just a handful and I laugh because some of them that meet Tom in person and other celebs they get scared and become nice. They're just cowards fighting innocent people while they're in hiding and just typing away.
39Unuaual I think your right and he said it there. He has been a scientologist for 25 years without problems. This situation is of his own making. My other point is when posters come on and say he's so classy, and the all American family and forget his history, because it suits. He is no better than some of the woman that get crucified on this site IMO.
40Unusual You bravo. My mom is a psychiatrist but we stand by Tom and many people also do. We believe drugs are the last resort and while people are so into their meds its different for us Christians because we seek God first than all this drugs unless its a life or death situation. Hey many Christians like me and other religions are labeled crazy too not just Tom. People who stand by their beliefs are usually persecuted and called crazy. Look at world history, martyrs and people in the Bible who were all called crazy but they are not.Take a look at the fighting of gays vs Mormons and how many mocked the Amish community when those killings happened when the Amish people never do anything to harm us and the media.
41Good for Cruise calling on the overdrugging problem in America and the world because there is a crisis not just street drugs but most of all alcohol and prescription drugs.
OMG! How crazy...I actually danced with the ballerina! Ashley Bouder...we went to the same dance school!
42UnusualYou, you are very, very much mistaken.
Tom Cruise most certainly did condemn every woman suffering from post-partum depression by saying that there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance, psychiatry is nothing but a psuedo-science and all these women need are a little exercise and vitamins and they'll be just fine and dandy! He specifically targeted his supposed "friend" by bad-mouthing Brooke Shields on national TV, but his crazed rant was delivered to all women suffering from the disease.
YOU need to read between the lines because he was basically trying to claim this is all in these women's minds, so they don't need drugs to treat depression. It was a willful, reckless and ignorant comment upon a serious medical condition that millions have suffered from, one that already comes imposed with a stigma of guilt.
There is no way to ever calculate how many women out there were hurt by this high-school drop-out NUTJOB's attempt to diagnosis and play doctor on TV.
43By the way I did like his comment about it being Katies say really if they have more kids.
44chocosora, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. Tom Cruise, as a well recognized public figure across the globe, had no business whatsoever trying to preach and INFLICT his beliefs upon others on national television.
Some people out there would not be able to live without drugs. To paraphrase what Matt Lauer said to Tom Cruise back in 2005--it's okay that these people are treated in the way YOU see fit rather than the way THEY see fit?
No, uh-uh, don't think so.
45How is this Tom's doing? Ive seen all interviews then and now and all Tom did was ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS ABOUT KATIE,DRUGS AND RELIGION THROWN AT HIM. Its the media who started it all and sensationalize it for ratings, for coverages and magazines to sell.
I never saw Cruise grabbed a mike and said Ok today let's talk about depression and Scientology. Look at the stupid reporters asking him and Katie about personal stuff and not even their movies.
And those videos leaked all over were not released by Cruise to promote his religion. They were all stolen properties and badly edited and many believed them as true. This site even promoted those stolen vids. Cruise is a victim in all this. I agree he and his family are classy and strong surviving the storm because many weak people even many stars cant handle that and most resort to rehab.
46Is it religion or medicine we are talking about. If it's religion well It's upto him, but well martyr is a bit strong, he's not up for flogging yet.....
47as for medical issues the guy has no idea about treatment of these things and should therefore never of spoken out. The issues are blurred here-medicine versus religion. One is based on doctrine na dbelief, the other left to Doctors I think
That's not how it went at all, peachmarlin. Watch the 2005 interview with Matt Lauer again. It was Tom who went off on this crazy tangent.
The old "boo hoo...he was victmized" sob story doesn't play very well when presented with actual facts.
48I meant at the end 'doctrine and belief, the other issues left to Doctors I think'
49Yes, I agree. If Tom Cruise wants to believe were are infested with the sould of a thousand dead aliens, than so be it. More power to him.
When Tom Cruise goes on The Today Show, which is watched by like 90% of the homes across America every morning and acts and speaks as if he knows more than medical doctors do, to the point where he is providing diagnosis and treatment advice?????? Then that's a very big issue, in my opinion. He deserves whatever flack he caught after that.
