Brad Pitt snuggled into his warm jacket and scarf after dining in Berlin yesterday. Looks like Brad will be busy on the set of Inglorious Bastards right until it's time to celebrate with that adorable party of six, but we'd expect nothing less from the hardest working celebrity of 2008. Brad recently opened up about his family's gift-giving system and their plans for settling down. Here's more:
- On settling down in France: "I've been dragging them all from continent to continent lately, so we're going to have to give them a break soon. For the long term, right now, we're choosing France. It's good living there, a really nice way of life. It's a place where the kids can run free and not be hassled – we have a good relationship with the locals, and it's a good base for the family."
- On holiday presents: "We do exchange gifts, although we don't feel any pressure to make them big or expensive gifts. The kids don't ask for big gifts for the reason that they don't see a lot of the American cartoon television, which is packed with all those manipulative commercials for big toys that look so fantastic. When they do see that stuff is when they start asking for the toys, so we figure if they don't see them they won't know they're there. So we have gifts, but we try to keep the money spent to a minimum. The rule is that everyone's got to make something for someone else, you got to put time into it."
- On his children: "I look down at the family and I see our boy from Vietnam, and our daughter from Ethiopia, and our girl's from Namibia, and our son who's from Cambodia, and . . . they are all brothers and sisters, man. They are all the same blood. It is such elation to see them all living together, and getting along together, and to know that we were able to give them a home — in some cases, to give them a life. It's a wonderful thing that we are able to do this because of the jobs we have — and it's a selfish thing, too, because the rewards are extraordinary."

well i'm actually happy that they are going to settle down somewhere for a length of time. it's better for the kids -and he's right. given the laws there about privacy, at least they'll be able to have some sense of normalcy, and if they get along well with the locals - then that's a good thing too. it's also a good thing that angie's mom is from there too right? so she's back to her roots so to speak.
1Actually Ilanac, Angelina's mom was French Canadienne and she said in an interview that he mom was born in Chicago. It's just that her mom always loved France and wanted to visit or something along those lines.
But it's good to have the kids settle down. They're getting older and France's privacy laws are much stricter compared to here in the US. It's one of the reasons that Johnny Depp is raising his family there.
2Yeah, I think that in France, the tabloids are obligated to blur the faces of celeb children...
3HA so it was Brad dragging them all over the world...
From what he says it doesn't
sound like they want spoiled brats. Thank gawd they're doing their best to shield them from t.v. and not wanting everything they see.
4And also, France is a great country to live in...
5tulipe ur avatar is so cute!!
6"The kids don't ask for big gifts for the reason that they don't see a lot of the American cartoon television, which is packed with all those manipulative commercials for big toys that look so fantastic". How ironic is that comment, it ws the American TV who made Brad and Angelina who they are today and it is becaused of the manipulative media that they have the fortune they have.
7Tulipe, France is a fantastic place to live. Last winter, I went with my guy to visit his father's side of the family that lives in Toulouse. Beautiful, beautiful place. The south of France is so much better than north.
8What they don't see they dont't want? Really? What about the shopping they do in toy stores all over the world? Leaving with bags and bags full of stuff. What about the birthday parties they have with complete war themes including giant rides..in their own backyard? I think both Brad and Angie paint such a "pretty" picture of the perfect life its obnoxious. Why do they feel the need to do this? And yes..her mother is French CANADIAN.. not PARISAN. But its much more romantic in France then in Quebec..so lets go with that scenario. And why the need to constantly talk/remind us/them where their kids came from? We all know this by now. And are they going to announce that the twins are from France because they were born there. Oh yeah. I forgot. In honor of her French mother.
9The poor twins don't count because they weren't born somewhere cool enough?
10I think some of you guys on here are taking this too seriously. They're celebrities. They're supposed to be full of sh*t.
11OMG FakeSanta you are TOTALLY right about the stoner thing. I've never thought about that before!
12I also forgot, this "quote" came from the Daily Mail. So take it with a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE grain of salt.
13AHaha! The Daily Mail, Yes, BIG grain of salt!
Well good for them if they aren't showering their kids with tons plastic crap.
14I hear both of you loud and clear. He's full of sh*t period and this thing about toys, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I've seen their kids coming out of toy shops all over thew world as someone else has suggested. I think Brad likes to play family but his family is a bit strange, it's full of double standard.
15He broke out in sweat! ha ha ha, well Brad Pitt you should have stuck to your ex and worked stuff out properly before hooking up with a new girl. He basically jumped from one relationship to another. Afraid to be alone I see. Gosh what a loser!
16And am i the only one thinking he sounds more and more like angelina than himself! I don't hear Brad Pitt in these interviews I hear angelina jolie every time he speaks. I honestly think he's so weak.
17何人かの人々は愚かな
I love how you guys make assumptions based on some pictures. Those pictures that you're talking about FakeSanta, when they were walking they clearly weren't in their pajamas. It's one thing to just don't like them, but come on people, some of you guys really go to far into reading into theirs or any celebs lives. No one on here can claim to know any celebrities personally to know exactly every minute details about their lives. You see a few pictures and boom, want to make your decisions based on that.
And to be honest, when you think about it, you don't always see pictures of their kids, just like the other celebrities. However, there is a larger interest for the Jolie-Pitts, in comparisons to other celebrities so OF COURSE when you do have pictures of them, it's multiplied and all over the net.
18BWAHAHAHA I can't believe I'm a huge fan yet I don't even know about their every waking hour yet you people who are sick of them DO! amazing I better start stalking more if I'm to know everything they do. I better tell my brother that only rich people throw theme parties for their kids cause he had a bouncy thingy for his kids birthdays, gosh the things one learns on these here gossip sites.
19Banzai, what about my cousin who well all out and threw her daughter a Hannah Montana themed party for her daughter last week and had the whole 4th grade class there plus the neighborhood kids. I better tell her that too
. I guess, my cousin is an elitist
hypocrite too.
20that namibia comment was so annoying.
so you cob a squat in another country for a few
weeks so you can have your daughter there and all of a sudden that makes her a pure namibian? sure citizenship i guess but come on Brad you sound so pretentious.
21I'm not being condescending, I'm pointing out your projections on how they should be with their kids. The fact is, there are parents out there, and some celebs who are worst with their kids. I don't see people complaining about Katie Holmes, dragging Suri out in the cold just about everyday in New York, or people complaining about Jennifer Garner with her daughter. I see your point, but I'm pointing out as well, you don't always see the Jolie-Pitt children and people do, people always want to jump down their throats, because for their own personal issues that Brad and Angelina and want to basically make it seems as if they are bad if not horrible parents. That's when I have an objection.
Do I think they are hypocrites, absolutely, because I think everyone is full of sh*t and hypocritical, it's in our genes. Everyone contradicts themselves in some way or another. That's why I could care less what they or any other celebs do or say. However, I do have issues when people go all out with how they assume their kids are going to be.
22Oh, my good friend had an Hello Kitty birthday party for her daughter recently. Oh what an awful person she is for doing that for her child.
23Audreystar, she is from Namibia, what exactly should he say?? I think what he's saying is his kids are of all different cultures just about and they get along just as if they were ALL the same blood. The kids will be open minded about people in general no matter what culture you are from.
24lol shantejam. Am I see things are or comments missing?
Anyways. My overall point is, I hate, hate when people go and psychoanalyze people's children based on their how prejudice against the parents themselves. I have no problems with people who don't like or just plain out hate Brad and Angelina, but don't go assuming that their children must have problems. The thing with kids are you never know how they are going to turn out to be. We have serial killers out there who for all intent and purpose had great upbringings and great parents. Jeffery Dahmer wasn't a cannibalistic serial killer because of his parents. He by his own admittance had a pretty good childhood, yet we all know how he turned out to be.
25She's not Namibian no matter how much they wish it so. Get over yourself Brad.
26More than they toy thing what bothered me was the part of American manipulative media... which is true that it is manipulative, but hey dont bite the hand that feeds you!
27Pitip, again. This quote came from the Daily Mail, the trashiest of the UK's gossip mag. Take it with a HUGE grain of salt. They claim they got it from Hello Mag, but even the current issue of Hello doesn't have this interview.
I really think Pop should take this down, because it's really not from a legitimate source.
28ummm where'd my comment go? I didnt say a thing wrong.....
29????
Missy: Dont worry I have been banned a couple of times just because someone reported my comments! I got so offended and upset I did not read POP for 3 weeks or so... but like they say it is addictive...he he he
30I just don't get why people hate him so much. It's not that serious. He's just an actor who will never truly affect your life. It's the holidays, why all this hate?
31missy, I don't worry. I notice that some of the comments keep disappearing.
Anyways, have anyone been keeping up with the Caylee Anthony story. There's reports out here in Florida, that they are pretty confident that the body they found like week is definitely Caylee's and that the grandparents are seeking immunity.
32Actually fleurfairy Shiloh is Namibian-American just like the twins are French-American.
33Ya Msyt I'm still hopeful that the bones aren't Caylee's but they most likely are.
34Pretty much everyone is confident that they are hers. There's no reports of any missing children of her age in the area. The bones were found 15 houses down from her home. Either which way it's pretty sad.
And I'm sorry but the grandparents know that they daughter is guilty. Their first interviews with the police pretty much sealed the deal. The father is a former cop. He knows what a dead body smells like and that's exactly what he told the investigators, that his daughter's trunk smelled like there's been a dead body in there. That's why they're asking for immunity know. They know that can't lie to themselves and others anymore.
35what makes me laugh the most is the fact that most people that like to talk crap about Brad and Angie are the ones that can't get enough of them ,they will be the 1st ones to comment. If I don't like a celeb or think they are fake like Beyonce I just don't click or read on her. So people who call Brangelina Hypocrites I think it would be nice if u can 1st look at the log in your eye before u try to remove the log in another persons eye!!!because thats hypocrytical to say u don't like them them in your heart u just can't do without them!!!Thank you!!merci boucoup!!!
36Oh bla bla bla some of you take them so seriously, commenting on their every move and every comment. Everyone has different ways of raising their children and different family lives - as long as the kids are happy and growing up well in a good home that's all that matters.
If Brad Pitt was still with Jennifer Aniston and they had a bunch of kids and were subsequently travelling the world because of shooting movies in different locations, people wouldn't give them HALF as much sh*t as he and Anjelina Jolie get.
37To all of you who had or knew someone who had a great theme party for their kids..good for you! The point some of us are trying to make is NOT for kids to have what they deserve but Brad should stop making it look like his kids don't get toys and such because he does not let them watch American cartoon stations on tv. And that is a pile of crap based on THEIR big theme parties NOT yours. As far as Brad going on and on about where the kids were born...my daugher was born in New York City but I am Canadian and not ONCE have I said my daugher is an American..not once. Thats another question..why is it Brad and Angie do not want their kids from America??? I guarantee Knox and Viv will be "French" born hence why they had the babies in France...why??? And why not proudly say they are Americans?
38Linda because these two people wanted a rainbow family hon, remember? This is why their kids will be born around the globe. I think Brad is funny when he said his daughter is Namibian! Ha ha ha, I'm sorry but being from somewhere is all about knowing the culture, tradition, language and politics of that country. It's about experience not where you happen to be born in. Brad comes across as seriously vain.
39And this rainbow family they have, it would make sense to more people if he shuts up more.
40linda if your daughter was born in NYC then she is an American citizenship. Sorry to say it. You may not want to say that she is, but according to our laws, anyone born in the US and it's jurisdiction are granted citizenship. And I still think you're over analyzing everything that they do and say. Why give a damn. It's not like it's hurting you if they want to go on and on about where their children are from.
41Well that's too bad for your kid, if I was born American and not found out 'till I was older I would be pretty pissed off, it would be my right to know. Whether you like it or not Shiloh is Namibian, Charleze Theron is African it is their place of birth. I don't see the big deal.
42Theron actually grew up in south africa, not just a place of birth. Maybe one day Shiloh will grow up there but i doubt it. Theron considers herself south african i know, I would too if I grew up there but i bet u she can't live there now though cause she's been away for too long (may be i am wrong) but i know once you've been away for too long you can become alien to your own culture (which has happened to many people). I guess i am saying the stuff is because i am sick of brad yapping about how wonderful life is, it gets exhausted u know what i mean? And before anyone says then don't read the post, well i do, and i happen to have a negative opinion which i want to share.
43Really? I honestly didn't know that because my daughter was born in NYC she is also an American citizen. Very cool. The difference is that I did not move to NYC to give birth to her. She was born unexpectedly early while I was there shopping. My thoughts on Angie birthing her babies everywhere instead of the USA is questionable. Period. Not over analyzing (Myst) just voicing my opinion (bluesteyes). And yes..they are creating a rainbow family. I wonder if they will give birth to one of them here in Canada eh? Doubt it. Not glamorous enough for sure. Although we do have beautiful snowy mountains and beavers
BTW...Mia Farrow, Steven Spielberg and
many others have adopted children from all over the world and not once do/did they a) repeatedly remind the world (and themselves) where the children come from and b) they had their bio
children in America.
44Blue I know what you mean, at least your pretty honest about it and I can respect that and your reasons for it. Some of the people on here however go on and on about how much they can't stand Brad and Angelina for their high horse, while they themselves are on a high horse, and their whole purpose it just to post on Brad and Angelina and talk about how much they can't stand them.
As far as Theron, I understand what you mean about becoming alienated from your own culture. I'm trying to deal with 6 different ones. My dad is black and Vietnamese and my mom Haitian and Dominican, and I basically grew up in Japan. I am an American by birth since my parents are military, but prior to the age of 17, the longest time I actually lived in the US was 8 months that's when I was 9. So when my parents were finally stationed back in the US from Japan, there were some things that I just didn't get and I still don't till this day and I've been living here permanently for almost 9 years.
So in this case I'll command the Jolie-Pitts for ensuring that the children grew up being prideful of who they are and where they come from. But I do agree that it is tiring that they feel the need to repeatedly say it in interviews.
45Canada isn't exotic enough linda, it isn't europe or poor enough. Seriously i don't know why they crave being different so much, being different is cool but don't make it loud please, when you make it loud, you actually look cheesy.
46Myst, just because someone is born in a place does not make them automatically citizens. If some tourists are visiting the US and a child is born to them here, that child would not necessarily be an American citizen.
47Myst being nomadic is fine and can be lonely but at least your parents didn't keep adopt different kids from every single continent to fulfill something they're missing and then tell the world how great your family is. Well i think nomadic kids are lonely but wise. I am one too but have not passed through as many places as you though!
48in some parts of Mexico its poor maybe their next child will be born or from there, maybe not, not exotic enough, btw people come on here to give their opinions whether they be good or bad
49actually Flysolo, according to our laws, they are US citizenships. Citizenship, is given by birth or by your parents here in the good US of A. That's why a lot of people have issues with immigrants who will actually come here to give birth, just so that their children can be US citizens.
Oh and Blue, girl you have no idea how many places I lived lol. I was born in Germany by the way
. I agree with you, being nomadic isn't all that great, but I had a pretty damn good childhood and I wouldn't change it for the world. But I'm
with you Netflix. I'm not doing that to any kids I have, at least, once they reach school age. I'm moving back to Japan next year when the BF and I get married, who happens to have French and
Japanese (my kids are going to be f**ked).
