Ryan Gosling has been hard at work in LA recently, only it's not on the set of any movie. Instead, Ryan and a friend started a band called Dead Man's Bones and here is their first music video. It's a far cry from the bubble gum pop that most actors-turned-musicians release, but it might not appeal to all The Notebook fans out there. Check out the music video for their first single "In The Room Where You Sleep" and let us know — love it or leave it?

Not my cup of tea but he's an amazing pianist
1LOVE him. he's great.
2Ok, maybe not amazing but at least he can play
3he's hot and so is the drummer. yum yum.
4yes! the drummer is hott!
5His voice reminds me of Brandon Flowers from The Killers with a little Elvis thrown in. Not bad at all, I'm surprised.
6I like it. I wouldn't mind hearing more!
7I like it. Does anyone else think the drummer looks a bit like Iker Casillas?
8I like the use of a non-electric piano. Its very interesting I don't see it often.
9His voice is really deep. I don't understand the song's lyrics very much. ahahhaa
Its very interesting, I'm not sure where I stand on it.
I really like it!
It also reminds me of The Killers. I love the Killers; so this works fine and dandy for me.
Who is that damn drummer though!?
10love it!
11oh this is f*cking awesome. i love his voice! it's a great mix between morrissey and ian curtis! the song is reminiscent of both of those artists' bands as well.
kind of creepy in the most brilliant way. what i love about music is that it's a way to reveal a whole different side of yourself to people. sure this probably isnt what most fans expected from him, but that's the beauty of it.
can't wait to see what these guys do next!
12The piano is beautiful, but I thought he was joking at first with that weird voice.
13totally mad genuius. great camerawork, editing and pace. the video concept was out of this world. the song is intense and warm and gentle all at once. love it.
14i loved it all, reminds me of devendra.
15i like how he talks to the little kids too
Channeling The Doors much? I like it though, glad I clicked play! cool beat and piano-the video goes well with the song, the kids laughing really take the creepy edge off the vid.
16I didn't really like the song, but I have to give him credit for his musical career actually being legitimate.
17The voice thing was distracting, but I would like to hear more from him...
18Love it, think it's pretty innovative. Bravo.
19Eh it was ok.
20Who cares about "The Notebook" fans...I don't. The band sounds amazing. Love it.
21i like it. then again i love indie music so that may be why
22oh yeah and hot hot drummer. good music by cute boys. nice
23Of course he can sing... he's a mouseketeer. haha.. no seriously, Ilove it... very nick cave/Ian curtis. I wish the quality of recording was a little better.
24He is a good pianist and the kids doing the chorus is a sweet touch, but the music isn't exactly my fave..
25I didn't vote because I'm not sure where I stand on it. I'm definately a fan of Ryan and this is really good. The whole thing was cool, but not really something I would gravitate towards.
26I love it! Ryan Gosling is amazing and overall I love the sound. The only thing that bothers me is that the song sems a little to halloweeen-esque, but i can't wait to hear more.
27i think i would like it, if the "hot" drummer wasn't completely off and behind the beat the entire time!!
28Reminds me of the Killers. Not too shabby.
29I love it!
30Hmmmmm, too creepy for me with the kids choir.
31love it.
he's just sooo hot.
32Meh. As a musician (and someone who hasn't been on popsugar for a while) I hesitantly comment that this is an entirely rudimentary piece in A-minor (one of the easiest of keys, btw, seeing how it's only on the white keys, no blacks) and only consists of 4 chords (3 predominently), so it ain't rocket science. I love me some Gosling, but this is a masturbatory exercise. What's this simplistic exercise for, anyways?
33I always knew he's something better
34I love this song! And Ryan has an incredible voice! Really love it!
35I like it in a simple kind of way... i wouldn't go so far to say he's an "amazing pianist" as someone else who probably isn't a musician said.. the piano part is ridiculously simple, easy to play, and a bit repetitive. I know that's the feel of the song, but there could have been a little more creativeness with the piano. I give him credit for using the piano at all, though!
36sydlev is right - mad genius. like it. love him.
37i have to comment and second MuffinAmy's opinion. i'm also a musician, and from a music point of view this made me embarrassed for him. it's a very basic and lamely written song, an analogy would be a kinder fingerpaint picture vs. picasso. no doubt ryan is an amazing actor and the ideas he has are interesting, but this SONG is far from mad genius... then again some of the biggest pop hits are written on top of 3 chords repeated over and over again, but there's more to good music then a honky tonk piano and weird indie wanna be vocals. sorry to be harsh, Ryan is one of the best young actors of his generation and i'm sure music is a great creative exercise for him, but genius... please no.
the moment he has with the kids is to me the best, then when the music started.. i started cringing..
38im so obsessed with him that he cant do wrong
39trying to sound like doors?
40I agree with all the comments concerning his kinda overt influences (Doors, Killers, Morrissey, etc.) but props to him for experimenting and--oh, I dunno--steering clear of the black eyeliner (30 Seconds to Mars anyone??). Overall, not bad.
41It doesn't suck, but it could be better. I'm on the fence.
42I love it. And has been said to death, def a Killers vibe to the song and even the video. It's pretty creepy cool. Would play it with Thriller during Halloween, lol
43I give him credit for doing his thing and being creative.
44I've only seen him in The Notebook and he was great in that, and I also hear how talented he is. That wasn't bad at all. If I heard it on my local college indie/NPR station, I would have thought it was another white boy emo band.
45I enjoyed watching it, but I wouldn't want to just listen. The kids were great!
46So wait he can act, he can sing, can he dance while doing gymnastics? lol god im almost jealous
47I like it, but I'm sure it's because I love him. But, I knew he had a good voice I remember when he was on the Mickey Mouse Club. Yes, I used to watch that mess.
48I'm not really sure. I voted no because I couldn't really hear it. I would have to listen to it more to really decide if I like it or not.
49Wow.....I see soo many of these comments are so harsh......I mean, people have the right to their own opinion but really.....wow!
I don't know why but I decided to see what other people had to say about the video even though it was awsome!
I'm actually one of the students in the choir and I have to say that doing the music video and meeting Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields was such a great, fun experience! Ryan is an amazing artist and is so great with us! So is Zach Shields who was the drummer! Hopefully we get to see them again! And I also hope that people who like the vid enjoy it!
I hate to critisize people for things that they love to do because I know how that feels and if u were me, I bet u would have the same opinion as I do!
