TMZ was the first to report that John Travolta and Kelly Preston's son, Jett, passed away in the Bahamas today. Their attorney confirmed the news that the 16-year-old had a seizure at the family's vacation home. Our hearts and thoughts go out to John and Kelly's family and friends during this tragic and difficult time.

rosynose, I'm pretty sure he was autistic. Either way, It's very sad.
14my condolences to John and Kelly, it's hard for a parent to lose a child.
15very sad
16Yes Im hearing all this death of kids everywhere and its so tragic.
17God bless and comfort this family and all these tragic events all around the world. I happen to like Travolta a lot along with the Cruise family.
Oh, this is so sad. I can't imagine. I feel horrible for them.
18Don't have much good to say about this - I question how well his parents did by him, and he may have had a much better life if his parents were not Scientologists and his problems could have been treated.
19It's very sad.
I just read that he wasn't being treated because Scientology doesn't allow it.
20This is so sad - what a loss to the family.
21My prays and thoughts go out to John and his family
22it's a bad start to the new year

24I love Kelly Preston and I'm sure they did what they thought was right for their son. Poor Ella.
25Awhh how sad!
26I too have read that Jett was not being treated for his illnesses because of his parents' views on Scientology.
27LemonOut - I agree with you.
This breaks my heart.
28i heard about this when i logged into Yahoo....its horrible.....prayers for the family...
29"I just read that he wasn't being treated because Scientology doesn't allow it."
papever that's what i thought too, i hope i am wrong because i have a son who had seizures and there is not one thing that i would withhold to cure or alleviate any further damage, i guess there beliefs are stronger which I've read are, they are so brain washed into believing medications are wrong and bad
30Msmoney23, here is the quote:
"it's Kawasaki syndrome," Travolta said of his then-2-year-old son. Watch Travolta talk about his son's condition »
"It was that the immune system overreacts, because they have almost the equivalent of metallic chemical," Travolta said.
According to the American Heart Association, "About 80 percent of the people with Kawasaki disease are under age 5. Children over age 8 are rarely affected."
The causes of Kawasaki disease are unknown. Some scientists think it's caused by an infectious agent, such as a virus. Some studies have noted a link between the disease and carpet cleaning chemicals.
31My condolences..
32that is so sad.... how terrible
33While it is always sad to see a person die young, I have to agree that he had troubles that "seemingly" were not addressed do to his parent's views of Scientology. Thus, I also question whether or not he really did have autism, rather than Kawasaki disease, which is primarily an Asian condition. It is sad to see people hide conditions of their children. It is refreshing to see how much Jenny McCarthey talks about her son and his troubles in such an honest and open way.
I just have to wonder how screwed up this Scientology crap makes people.
34Jett was autistic. He may have also been effected by Kawasaki disease but that did not cause his developmental challenge. Scientologists consider people like Jett (and my son who is challenged in other ways) to be supressive persons so his developmental challenge was never addressed. Still, this is VERY sad for John and Kelly. No parents should have to bury a child. I'm sure they loved him and will miss him.
35Iwillmarryunick people do not die from autisim, i thought thats what it was at first
36I'd heard the same thing about the Scientology thing. I'd also heard they were too embarassed to be seen much with him. It was always about Ella.
Poor Jett.
37How sad. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of loosing a child.
38How sad! My thoughts and prayers are with them.
39As cruel as this might sound, I don't feel for John or Kelly. I feel for Jett and his sister Ella. No parent should lose a child, but they didn't help him at all. Now I don't know this for sure, however it has been widely reported that Jett was on the Autism spectrum and that John nor Kelly would treat him for it as Scientlogists believed that Autistic people are "degraded beings" and that they are weak, willing the affliction on themselves. They instead told everyone that he had Kawasaki Disease caused from toxins when they got their carpets cleaned. Kawasaki Disease and Autism are two EXTREMELY different afflictions. Kawasaki is a physiological disorder that affects the heart and arteries, lymph nodes and skin whereas Autism is a neurological disorder that affects social interactions, toleration of light, sounds, movement, change in diet, surroundings and people, touch...yeah, they sound very similar. It was also reported that he never spoke, another symptom of autism, and that he suffered from a seizure disorder. Scientlogists will not use pharmaceuticals to help with these disorders nor will they admit autistic people into treatment. If this was the case with Jett, I can't believe his parents would be brainwashed by a cult into not treating their son. I know I am going to be blasted for this, but it is child abuse if this was the case. Also, I am more than willing to eat crow if he didn't have autism and that whatever was wrong with him they were trying to treat, however with my psychology background I am pretty sure that Jett was suffering from autism, and for that I am so sorry for him.
40My heart goes out to John and Kelly. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs but if not taking medication for his condition was the cause....I hope they reopen their minds....Peace...
41d_ford no one should blast you for your opinion, i think he was not treated for his seizures and that caused him to seize and it was stated that he hit his head on the bath tub
42pinkprincess, I would hope that no one would blast me but I have been blasted on here before because my opinion doesn't go with the norm. I had a strip torn off me when I griped about my mother in law!
I think that is was the cause was too and it is too sad. I know not all pharmaceuticals are good, but the majority save lives and had he been taking them, he probably would have been fine.
43Pink Princess- I never stated that his disease killed him. Reread the post.
I was only talking about his troubles while he was alive.
44i was just offering some information i was not attacking your comment, i agree with what you wrote
45As much as I am saddened by this, I REALLY doubt that Jett had Kawasaki disease, mainly because it is does not primarily affect a child's behavior or mannerisms; in the contrary Autism definitely does.
I don't want to be rude to the Travolta family, but here is a link of a video of the family with Jett. After viewing the video, it is unmistakable that Jett had certain mannerism that can be attributed to autism.

46msmoney the picture i provided that was flagged, shows lots of facial characteristics of autism
47Wow all this time I thought Jett was a cool skater type kid, without ever having seeing a picture of him ( I guess it was the name that threw me) I didn't know he was a sick kid. I've seen pictures of Ella is it? I guess she was the lucky one, the healthy one that got to go to premiers
I also read that the care takeer found the boy the day after he went in the bathroom to shower or something. How utterly inconsiderate of their parents... I mean really who vacations
with their kids and not bother to check on the "sick" one. I guess that's why they had a care taker I guess. I was really feeling sorry for the Travolta's but after reading something here and
in other places I believe that kid is better off.
48Well I'm glad other people had the guts to say what I was thinking.
He had a disorder that remained unaddressed and untreated because of his parent's "religious" beliefs and in my opinion withholding treatment from a sick child is tantamount to child abuse. In this instance it seemingly has lead to the death of a child and I hope this is investigated by the police.
49I agree with LemonOut, I think he could have had a much better life if he didn't have the misfortune to be born to Scientologists.
As an adult you can choose to adhere to whatever crackpot beliefs you want, as a child he wasn't given that choice, and that's the tragedy in this situation.
