Fresh off a bikini-clad trip to Maui last week, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden wasted no time kicking off 2009 with some good deeds. On Friday they went shopping at Chanel in Beverly Hills, but the real giving back fun began on Saturday when they headed to Six Flags Magic Mountain. In addition to hitting the rides, they spent time with kids from Beyond Shelter, posing for plenty of photo ops with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Harlow is still too young for theme parks but Nicole and Joel have plenty of room in their hearts for the other kids who appreciate their attention, too.

5i think that it's a nice thing that this couple is doing, with charities and philanthropies. i hope that we continue to see more and more of this in '09 and beyond. i'm a bit jealous that they were at MM. i want to go there! it's too cold on the east coast for amusement parks!
