Kate Winslet and her daughter Mia put on their coats yesterday afternoon to run errands together in NYC, but we're more excited to see another hot red carpet look [1] from the actress at this Sunday's Golden Globes [2]. Despite the praise Kate's receiving for her work in both The Reader [3] and Revolutionary Road [4], she knows what's most important. Kate opened up to Elle UK [5] about her life, finding an unexpected friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio, and her very happy marriage. Here's more [6]:

• On her life: "Yes, my life is incredible but, oh my God, I have to work at it. It's the same for any working woman. You run and you work, you run and you work, and you try not to let anything drop."
• On her relationship with Leo: "Leo’s friendship is a major thing in my life. It’s a big relationship," says Kate. "We met when we were very young and did this incredible film [Titanic], which changed both our lives, but the best thing to come out of it was this friendship."
• On her marriage to director Sam Mendes: "It was the last thing I expected, but it really was love at first sight," she says. "I woke up in the middle of the night after we'd met and I had this feeling in my stomach. I just knew what it was. I didn't want to stop being with him. I know categorically I'm married to the right man. I feel understood by him, completely known. And I get the enormity of what I'm saying, which is why I’m so grateful."

Whatever happens at the Globes this weekend, it seems like Kate knows how to be happy no matter the amount of professional praise.
