Scarlett Johansson sat down with Harper's Bazaar to chat about her upcoming movie He's Just Not That Into You. She plays a character who can't get the guy, but in real life, she's happily married to Ryan Reynolds. They love to keep their personal lives private, but Scarlett opened up a little about his proposal, her new life as a wife, and her other main man, Barack Obama. Here's more:
- On having things her way: "You have to protect some things, even if it's a silly detail like who designed your dress," she demurs. "It was private, which is what I really wanted. I've never been the girl who thought of the big dress, the big ceremony. I'm more low-key than that. Most people want photographers at their wedding, and for us it was how do we leave them out?"
- On adjusting to married life:"I feel like everything is really normal, it's calm and natural, like the way it should be," she says. "I have no perspective on it because it's been such a short time. I would never try to profess some knowledge that I discovered. I'm happy and it feels very regular, which is good."
- On Ryan's proposal: "I wasn't surprised that it was happening, but anyone being presented with a beautiful diamond ring, as a girl, you just squeal with delight. You say you can't believe it, but of course you really can. I think all proposals are romantic. It was very down-to-earth and genuine. There was no crazy skywriting or anything like that, just nice words, and it was very sweet."
To more photos, as well as what Scarlett has to say about Ryan's marathon, Obama's victory, and her dream role, just read more.
- On Ryan's running the marathon: "I went to some random spot and saw everybody going past," she says of the lengthy race. "It was really incredible. I'm a horrible runner; I can barely put one foot in front of the other. I saw that J.Lo did a triathlon and I'm like, Damn, girl, you just had twins! It's amazing. I'm so not a sporty spice; I'm a stay-at-home-and-veg spice."
- On being thrilled with Obama's victory: "I'm absolutely over the moon," she says of his victory, with the broadest of smiles. "If I'm invited to the inaugural party, I'll be there in a giant gown with the Obama family silk-screened on it."
- On her dream role: "Every actor wants to work on a Western," she says simply. Would she want to be an Annie Oakley type? "I would run a brothel, like a madam or something. I'm working with what I've got. It's only so long that people are going to want to see me in a corset," she says with a laugh. "So I might as well do it now."

I am so happy for her!I adore her!I hope she will be this bright and shinny forever!
1Am I the only one who doesn't see the appeal with her looks? I think she's a cute girl but I don't get all the fuss. I do think she's a good actress though and she seems happy and in love so good for her.
2well i guess it's nice that she's so 'normal' about things . i'm kind of surprised that she wasn't as surprised about the proposal given that they haven't dated for that long, but i guess when you know that it's right - then it's right.
3Gross, I don't get her, but she looks pretty. yea! Now, if only she were talented and made good movies.
4I own at least 2 of her movies and though there is something incredibly alluring about her, I don't see her winning an Oscar. She doesn’t have much range as an actor. Terrible performance in Scoop.

6These pictures are beautiful! Wait, she IS beautiful
7Great interview too.
"I'm so not a sporty spice; I'm a stay-at-home-and-veg spice."
lol, we share that outlook on life.
8I don't get why so many people hate her. I think she's sweet and lovely.
9I like how honest she is in the interview especially about working with what she's got. jessica alba always complains about having to use her sexiness to get roles and scarlett works it for all its worth.
10I know she doesn't want the paparazzi at her wedding, but why would you not want a photographer to capture one of the most important and beautiful day of your life..
honestly thank god we hired a videographer and photographer bcuz I don't remember anything that happened that night. The only thing I remember was saying I do and kissing my boo.. everuthing else was a blurr.. thats why you have pictures and video
11seems so down to earth. minus the "over the moon" comment. i hate that expression!
12i like how she and ryan are low-key. they seem to be a good match--and they're both rather easy on the eyes
13haven't we seen that dress before on say SJP....something to do with the Sex and the City premiere!?!?
14simply gorgeous!
15I like her-- it seems like she tries to stay down to earth and low key. I agree with reesiecup--- they are both VERY easy on the eyes!
16She looks really good here, red ...or scarlett.. is her color. I still just don't like her though, she seems like the kind of girl who'd lick your boyfriend's ear when your back is turned, lol.
17I think she's so freakin' beautiful. That dress on the cover is sexxxy!
18"I know she doesn't want the paparazzi at her wedding, but why would you not want a photographer to capture one of the most important and beautiful day of your life."
I don't think she meant she didn't have one. I think she meant she didn't want to do what some celebs do as in hiring a magazine to take the pictures that are shared. They probably had someone they trust do them.
19She's so cute to me.
20shes pretty but shes not a great actress to be honest
21Wow - these pictures are breathtaking. Scarlett is so beautiful - I WANT THAT DRESS!!!
22Scarlett is so gorgeous and I'm glad that she is pretty private about her relationship with Ryan, although I wish we would see them a bit more out and about.
23Love her. She's evidence that you can grow up in this business sane.
24I really love Scarlett! She seems so down to earth and sweet.
25This interview makes her very likable/down-to-earth. I wish her the best!
26I like her style and she looks gorgeous!
