Earlier today, we told you that Joaquin Phoenix is working on a career as a rapper after announcing his retirement from acting back in October. Most of you will miss seeing Joaquin on the big screen, and while we knew he was exploring his musical side, we never thought rapping was going to be his next endeavor. You can check out a preview of his skills here, then tell us — can you take Joaquin seriously as a rapper?

1joaquin? a rapper?? omg im rolling on the floor on this one...
he plays Johnny Cash, now he wants to rap?? wtf.....
this is worse than K-Fed...PAPAZOW!!!!!
Poor Joaquin, he looks like he's either on some major drugs or is having a breakdown.
2No way!
3He is a truly talented actor. I don't know what would make him want to branch off into something so out of his element. I hope he does return to acting!
about to loose it?!?
4Wack! I don't like how it says "with Diddy's help, I could see him being successful". That was back in the 90's. Joaquin needs Kanye's help. Or maybe he should just take a vacation and detox.
5i was fine with a musical career when i thought it was more along the johnny cash- singing and such line. but rap? o geez
6Love Joaquin, but no, I would not buy a rap album by him. I wish he would stick to acting, something he's good at.
7agree with tatsauce for the diddy thing... diddy's loosing it in my book.
but i like hiphop and underground stuff, i'm curious to hear what he will do!! I'm sure it's gonna be some dark, a bit activist and funky hiphop... I really like that guy, i wish him succes with it! Go Joaquin!
8honestly it makes me worried he's back on drugs. we all know this is going to be a trainwreck...why would he do this to himself if he wasn't totally deluded?? eesh
9hmm he's beginning to worry me
10I would support his music career if he was actually making music and not electronic noise. "Walk the Line" proved that he is at least a competent musician (but it wasn't his original music, so who knows).
11I voted no, but I have to admit I've never heard him rap. He may have put a fresh spin on rap who knows. I wouldn't use Diddy though, yeah he'll get a hit but is he really doing it for a commercial hit or because he has something profound he wants to share with the world .
12Someone used my name in vain!
I said yes, Joaquin can be a rapper if he so desires. I know he is musically talented but talent has nothing to do with rapping. It's swagger and presence then skills.
So if he's got the swagger and presence because he's fallen hard off the wagon then he just needs to gain the skills of mastering cleaver language. That will take work considering his whole "bye" "good" business.
He needs the assistance of a real rapper like Dr Dre or Eminem not a poser like P. Diddy.
13I love Joaquin but he seems to be on the crazy train right now....
14I love Joaquin but he seems to be on the crazy train right now....
15Oh Nooo!!.You're such a wonderful actor but rapper!!
16Please no!
what in the hell?! I can't believe Casey is going to document this insanity and Diddy is going to teach him! What.The.Hell!
17
18Publicity stunt?
19This whole thing is weird though. AND he's started to look homeless.
I think he could make a decent pop/rock singer/musician but a rapper ... oh god ! Please someone tell him not to do that ! Seriously ? Can someone imagine him as a rapper ? That would be ridiculous.
20Joaquin is a great actor, so I'm really disappointed he's not acting anymore. Maybe if he weren't already famous he could have been a rapper, but no, I can't see it at all. It just doesn't seem to fit his persona. When the story first came out, I really couldn't see him being any kind of singer (no matter how well he played Johnny Cash). I just don't get what in the world he's thinking; it's so bizarre!
21I adore this guy...but I am a little skeptical. Whats up with him? I figured he do some like acoustics or something.
22he can't be serious :|
23im very worried about joaquin
he just doesnt seem himself at all n it kinda sad
24Call me nuts but i loved it.
25Ive never been a fan of his but i actually like his grungy messy new weirdo clubbing in hairclips rapping thing!!
i love him but I'm worried he is becoming the new Amy Winehouse (whom I love as well and I'm sick of seeing her in such a bad state)
26o goodness no lol, after that 'bye good' episode he wrote on his hand not at all....what a twit lol.
27I love Joaquin Phoenix -- he's truly an amazing actor. His performance in Reservation Road is very moving.
However, I don't think he has been acting normally...
28i was hoping he would do so sorta country music stuff but thats not to be i guess!
29JP is losing his mind. Period.
30
that just made my night..darn thats funny...i'm gonna read it again!
31
Only 47 people said yes...
32I just watched the clip of Joaquin rapping on TMZ...LOL!!! That was so hilarious, but also so scary because it is not a joke people...he actually is giving up acting to rap...and what is worse, he is getting coached by Diddy. Too sad...
33No, and he looks terrible.
34I love him, I always have but no, Joaquin.
35Uh... WTF?
36i honestly think that he's losing it. i wonder what's going on in his head that he thinks that he can be successful as a rapper!
