Portia de Rossi stopped by the TCAs in LA this morning to talk about her upcoming new show Better Off Fred. While she of course fielded questions about the Arrested Development movie (more tidbits here), Portia also took a moment to talk about a new personal project. The glamorous actress is designing a line of vegan shoes! Unfortunately the company that Natalie Portman designed vegan shoes for ended up going under, but Portia seems determined to see this passion project through.

Yay! I sort of think a pricey vegan shoe line is kind of silly since I can get non-leather shoes at Payless, but it's sad that there is nothing of better quality available. And I love Portia de Rossi, but mostly because I love everything Arrested Development.
1I've loved her since Ally McBeal. I'm devoted to my leather shoes, but if I weren't I would consider her line, just because she's so awesome.

4you can buy vegan shoes anywhere....they're just not advertised that way (as someone said above- payless) - i just get annoyed when celebs make crappy marketing decisions about their 'projects'
5I don't know her. I don't watch her show nor am I lesbien. I don't care for her shoes. I love-love the fact that she and Ellen are strong enough to live their real life and not sneak and hide and play Hollyweirdo games. I have so much respect for Ellen/Portia for being open and honest and true to them self.
6i hope that portia has more luck than natalie but i'm not sure that it's really something that'll be successful right now. i think that although we're all more aware of things (i'm a veggie so i have an appreciation for what she's doing) i just don't thing that shoppers are 'there yet'
