John Mayer was looking mighty happy leaving the Soho Grand Hotel (where a certain Simpson sister is staying) yesterday afternoon. Whether or not he and Jess are back together, he's been keeping himself busy with other hobbies, like stand-up comedy. It wasn't the first time he showed off his comedic stylings, but he definitely shocked the audience at NYC's Comedy Cellar this week. He made some jokes about how women singers are allowed to be more harsh than men, taking on Carrie Underwood in particular. He also used this clever little bit:
"I don't wash my clothes to make them cleaner, I wash them to make them tighter – that's what makes me single. Guys, I don't have a washer-dryer, I have a wetter-tightener."
Zing! That was definitely the highlight of what I've seen. Mr. Mayer probably shouldn't quit the day job. But don't take my word for it, check out below for a clip.

2I use my dryer for a tightener too. A lot of times I'll just throw in jeans/shirts in the dryer to shrink them if they've stretched a bit, esp. since it's hard to find clothes that aren't baggy on me. Of course, I DO wash them, too. ha.

15Yeah, I actually saw him at the Comedy Cellar a few months ago. We were pretty shocked that he was there and also that he is trying to dabble in comedy. I agree he shouldn't quit his day job, but it's pretty cool that he would put himself out there.

25Honestly, I don't know about his stand-up, stand-up is hard, but John Mayer is hilarious. No wonder he hangs out with Dave Chapelle they have the same humor.
He's funny guy and he's really talented. He also writes sometimes too, he wrote a column for Esquire for a while, he seems to be interested in a lot of stuff. I love creative men.

26Aww, I like John Mayer -I liked when he was on Dave Chappelle too. He has this bit w/Kanye West-theyre funny together. Im glad he's not some stuck up a-hole though... I guess so many people identify themselves with that persona ( ring a bell anyone?) Which explains why they can not appreciate it!

40He's actually really funny. He had a little special on VH1 a few years ago called "John Mayer Has A TV Show" and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Look it up on youtube, you will laugh.
