The performances were one of the best parts of the VMAs last night. It was no Eminem event but still entertaining. We're psyched that pop is back! We could not have thought of a better way to kick off tonight's event than with JT showing off his sexy dance moves! Christina was looking lovely in red, but this time we mean her gorgeous dress. She performed her new song Hurt, which just hearing her sing gives you the chills. Beyonce was a bit of a let down. We were hoping Jay-Z would perform on stage with the B'Day girl. She danced her ass off to Ring the Bell and the dance sequence was old school like Janet's Rhythm Nation. We liked that part, especially in those coats. And finally, Shakira showed off her killer abs for Hips Don't Lie.
Fergie did some crazy performance on the red carpet for her latest single London Bridge wearing a very tight tiny pair of Burberry shorts. I can only imagine how Burberry felt about that one. To see more pics of the amazing performances, just read more

3I hated Justin's performance. And Beyonce's was great! I'm so over Christina, she's almost like the Lindsay Lohan for me. Oh!! and did anyone see when Missy Elliot is coming out on her little car thing a girl hits her in the head with an umbrella and you can even hear the DOINK noice. Missy has to readjust her helmet and ends up just taking it off! Thank goodness for TiVo because I kept rewinding that part.

14ugh... Was I the only one that was totally bored with this show? It would've been nice to actually hear the Raconteurs play a whole song, the same for Lou Reed. Since I'm not a big hip hop or pop fan the show wasn't very interesting IMO. Jack Black wasn't as good as I thought he would be either. When JT started singing my son and I just started laughing! lol gay so gay Pink was the best...! lol

31Watching Beyonce last night I shouted "What a rip off!" This girl could not be more unoriginal. She's ripping off poses in photo shots left and right and now she's copying Janet's famed Rythm Nation...I'm not impresseed.

34Beyonce was GREAT. I do not love the song, but she is really trying to do something different, I think it came accross well in the live performance rather then just hearing it on the radio. I loved the way she was fully dressed doing that Rythm Nation thing, but updated.
Justin was ok, that song is too technical , I like it better on the studio rendition.
Xtina was great, that song totally struck a chord with me, but her hair is HORRIBLE AND DISTRACTING.

Shakira - what was up with the "Hips Don't Lie like you've NEVER seen it before intro"? That was a great performance that was exactly like the other two times I've seen her do it.
Xtina's song was pretty but boring, for me.
