It was a star-studded lineup that braved the cold in Washington D.C. yesterday to support Barack Obama at the 'We are One' concert at the Lincoln Memorial. U2, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, and Mary J. Blige took the stage with a ton of other celebrity speakers including Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Jack Black and Queen Latifah. Usher gave the President-elect a hug while Michelle, Malia and Sasha enjoyed the entertainment along side the Bidens. Obama addressed the crowd, expressing his gratitude for their support as the celebrations for the inauguration continue to heat up. Jay-Z and Beyonce have been celebrating all weekend long including champagne celebrations with friends on Friday night and her closing performance yesterday. The party looks like it's just getting started and we can't wait to see what else is in store for all of us.
To see tons more photos including Shakira, Rosario Dawson, Bruce Springsteen, Queen Latifah and many, many others just read more.

this is just along the same lines as the whole campaign was for him - with all those musicians that were playing at the DNC and well, it's transferred to the white house i guess. it just goes to show that you're able to really be more of a contemporary president given that it's no longer the baby boomers that run the nation.
1i saw the show on HBO it was awesome.
2Have any of these celebrities actually gone to college? Are they educated? Do they have any business being in Washington D.C. right now? Bono isn't even American. Nor is Shakira. I am so sick of celebrities.
3I'm sad I didn't get to go, but I know so many who did and even through the cell phone line and web updates, it feels like I'm there because my friends and families excitement and emotions are so tangible.
4Sux that I can't be there.
5I kind of agree with fleurfairy. What does this have to do with running the country? Except for wasting millions of dollars, while telling the people they have to cut back. I understand having a party and celebrating becoming president, but this is over the top and it has nothing to do with his job.
6Busch's Inauguration's 42m, Obama's 150m! What a great start! Change is indeed happening! Enjoy the champagne!
7actually pitip, there's an article that can came out that, the total cost of the Inauguration was grossly over estimated, and Obama isn't using Tax payer's money for the Inauguration unlike Bush and other Presidents did in the past. Its money from his campaign and money the the Inauguration committee raised.
8The show was amazing, but I kept wondering what Obama thought of all the pop stars performing on the Lincoln Memorial. Can't get enough inauguration coverage!! Here's more cool inauguration stuff
9http://www.findingdulcinea.com/channel/politics/Presidential-Inauguratio...
really???? are you saying policemen checks are not tax payer's money????
10even if oprah paid for for it... that $ could be used for the "change" not for his personal glory!
11Pitip, spit out the bitter grapes and give Obama a little time before you judge him. He can't be worse than Bush anyway...
12It was a wonderful show and it clearly showed our president's intent to keep his promise to the millions of young voters who helped him get elected. This concert was for them. The arts is an important and vital part of our culture, our very existence. I for one applaud him and those who participated. With Bono and Shakira in attendance the president is a unifier, even those that couldn't vote for him love him.
Btw, the AP grossly exaggerated the cost of this concert. Most if not all the celebs. were not paid. They were happy to participate. Sucks for you haters.
13Who cares if Bono & Shakira aren't American? Does that give them any less right to rejoice in our election outcome? Good grief... America has an effect on the entire world.
14I don't think people questioning the concert are necessarily haters.
15I voted for Obama and think he will do wonderful things for our country but I don't think a grandious concert is needed for his inauguration.
I would think something less flashy would be more appropriate given the state of the economy. Just my opinion.
I'm excited about the future even though I didn't vote for Obama and I'm open to give anyone a chance. However, I do have to say I'm not so pumped about Biden.
As far as Obama "can't be worse than Bush"....I lost 2 family members on 9/11. Personally, I think we could have done much worse than Bush and I'm thankful that we have been safe for the last 8 years.
16Sorry - please ignore "Obama".
17actually none of the artist were paid to participate, all volunteered and asked to be part of it. Remember a lot of his backers were these same celebrities. Many of the concerts are being hosted and sponsored by different groups such as Disney, the LGBT community, and so forth. And Again, AP added costs that weren't even there. And DC is benefited from all of the tourists that came to town just for this day. Some people arrived since last week and more are coming in today as we speak. Yes DC is footing the bill for the policemen and guards but they are benefiting from it as well.
18All I am saying Mr. O is not being very modest... and will never be, mark my words... I wished celebrities would use their efforts and energy towards helping people that really need their help instead of making a show in the middle of the financial criss we are going through.
19tulipe: time? Mr. O is doing just perfect before time begins! I will be watching, we are all going to be watching and I just hope for all our sakes he does darn good!
20@ mayeb6 : I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing a member of your family under "normal circumstances" (old age, illness) is hard enough and I can't imagine what it must have been for you.
My point is : people keep saying that Bush kept the country safe for the last 8 years. Huh... no, he didn't ! Unless I'm completely mistaken, it was during his presidency that 9/11 happened. I'm not saying that he was responsible for it, of course, but he did ignored many many CIA reports AND foreign intelligence reports that Al Quaeda was preparing something big against America. So, from my perspective, he didn't not kept the country safe. And what about Katrina ? It's one thing to prevent terrorist attacks, but when you can't even rescue your own people because of utter incompetence, I can't say that "he kept American ppl safe".
@ pitip : I was saying that you shouldn't judge him only on this concert and his inauguration. Wait a little til you see him in action. And trust, if he screws up, I'll be the first one to criticize him !
21he did "ignore". Sorry. Typo.
22When celebrities help, they are criticized. You know, they are doing it for publicity. when they don't help, they are criticized. They are not doing enough for their community. What in the world do you want from them?
23Again, the celebrities who participated did it for free, they wanted to be there and it didn't cost the taxpayers a penny. I don't understand where's the problem?
GOD BLESS ALL AND HOPE FULLY PEOPLE CAN PULL THROUGH AND STOP FIGHTING HATING AND LIVING OFF THIS COUNTRY. PEOPLE NEED TO ALL DO THERE PART.
24BORING!
