Britney Spears may have just moved into her new home but yesterday it was off for a little relaxation with mom Lynne at the Montage Hotel in LA. Britney and her mother had a low-key date and while Britney's staying off the scene for now, she's still a bit too racy for some. The title of her new single "If You Seek Amy" was deemed too explicit for some US radio stations and she has since decided to go with the new name "If You See Amy" instead. While not everyone in Britney's life is on board for her tour, she's got her body back and is ready to show off the dance moves to go with her controversially named single.
it really makes me laugh sometimes to hear about the censorship that they put on some songs. honestly - it's not really that racy - i've listened to it so many times - but i guess that's just my opinion. i still can't wait - just another 2 months and i'll get to see her in concert.
1I hate they are censoring the song but whatever. I wish Brit all the best.
2OK I must be an idiot because I dont get what was 'racy' about this at all....she is looking for someone named Amy. ????. So what's the difference between 'seek' and 'see' in the song title? dont they mena the same thing? What is even remotely racy about this song. Is there an underlying thing i'm not understanding?
3Haha I just said I didnt get it and asked my honey. "If you seek Amy" = "ef you see k me"
4HA HA HA HA

5I LOVE IT
I don't get how the song will change-- the name just doesn't make sense now... if it is supposed to be f*ck me... whatever...
6I feel stupid now for not catching on earlier
7What is so racy about that?
8HAhaha I didn't get it either until your comment emily60608!! Duh I feel stupid!
But still, you kinda have to read into it...
9It took me quite awhile to figure out why it was censored after I read about it in the paper this morning... I had to say it out loud about 10 times before it finally clicked... Then I shook my head in dismay... American censorship rules are weird.
10wow.... that is stupid!
11so lame! now it doesnt even make sense... why are people so uptight?!
12thats dumb..now it doesnt make sence...if they were going to have to change it they should have just picked a new song for a single
13OK. I listen to the Britney Spears CD probably an average of once a day on my iTunes, and I've owned it since the day it came out. I hear If U Seek Amy a lot, it's a fun song. But until someone explained it to me (LAST WEEK!) I had no idea why the song was controversial. One of my friends was like "It's really clever, what she does in that song If U Seek Amy!" and I still didn't get it. And I have a *very* dirty mind. So if I can't figure that out, I doubt kids will get it. Her enunciation doesn't make it sound like "eff" at all.
Also, I'm going to take this moment to have a laugh at the expense of everyone claiming it doesn't make sense now. Because "All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to seek Amy" makes *so much* more sense than "All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you see Amy"?
14yeah, the song is kinda cute, except for the part where she actaully has nothing to rhyme with a word so she uses, 'ha ha, hee hee, ha ha, ho'.
15That TOTALLY runied the ong for me. They couldnt come up with a better line than that??????
Wow I feel stupid too!! thanks for explaining emily60608! I've been trying to figure that out for weeks!
16Well, after reading the blurb on the page from Pop I didn't get it either - glad I wasnt't alone. I am also one who usually sees beyond things, weird. First I have ever heard of the song actually....gong to listen to it now.

18totally didn't get that. at all. i doubt kids would have, either.
19wow,
i feel really naive right now
even after emily60608's comment i didn't get it
so i googled it and then i found out what it meant
i'm sort of shocked though because she is a mom, and might wanna start doing cleaner music
20even though that's not exactly her style
wowwwwwww...yeah, I never would have even noticed that. I figured she was just singing about her alter ego or something. lol
21ohhh. I was not catching on to what the big deal was until it was explained! I don't think they needed to change it - if most people are like me chances are they didn't even catch what it meant
22That's so stupid that they're changing it!! Damn radio censors..
23I think "If You See Amy" is actually much more clever and coy than the blatant "If You Seek Amy".
24Yeah, I only heard the song once on Rhapsody when her album first came out ,and i didn't get it. I just listened to the song this morning b/c I was curious about the commotion, and it is sooooo obvious now. If the media didn't make such a big deal over it 80% of people probably would not have noticed it at all. If You Seek Amy=F.U.C.K. Me
25well glad i'm not the only one who didn't catch on to it right away! i never heard the song but when they said there was a controversy in the title i was like huh? so thanks for explaining lol
