It was a big celebratory dinner party for Hollywood's finest last night as actors of TV and movies came together for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Both the women and the men brought some excitement on the red carpet, but when they got inside it was all about mingling between awards. Brad and Angelina stayed in their seats other than when he was presenting Button as an ensemble cast nominee, but kept the smiles big for whenever the cameras panned their way. They were in better spirits than the red carpet at least. Penelope Cruz snuggled up to Meryl Streep who walked away with a statue while John Krasinski hung out with Josh Brolin and Steve Carell — let us know what you think about the winners here.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler posed together. An emotional Gary Oldman accepted the award on behalf of Heath Ledger who earned another win. Otherwise, Katie Holmes looked fantastic presenting her award and we're always happy to see Mad Men recognized. In that same vein, yay for Slumdog Millionaire, which was the night's big winner, which bodes well for next month's Oscars.
To see a lot more from the show and backstage including Rosario Dawson, Jon Hamm, Hugh Laurie, Marisa Tomei, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn and many others just read more.

Brad and Angelina mingled like everyone else, they didn't just stay in their seats. I've seen pictures of them with Anthony Hopkins, Mickey Rourke, Alec Baldwin, and others.
1Yea, I have to toot all. They mingle, but this picture of Brad and Angelina is sooooooo cute. It looks they are playing rock, paper, scissor. lol. Great night. It looked like a ball.
2the last time I watched an award show was when I was nominated which was um, wow - like never...I like the recaps and video clips
3Katie Holmes's shoes are to die for. The color, the pointiness, that stiletto heel... everything about them. I seriously covet them.
4It must be so good to be rich...
5The picture of Kate Winslet talking to Alec Baldwin is so funny. I was thrilled to see Sean Penn win for "Milk."
6Katie Holmes, career-wise, is the exact equivalent of Mandy Moore. Started out with modest success in the teeny-bopper audience, went on to make a movie about being the President's daughter that bombed, then a comedy co-starring Diane Keaton that bombed. If Mandy Moore walked out on that stage to deliver Best Actor, people would've been going "WTF?". LOL!! I'm still scratching my head how the sole credential of being married to Tom Cruise earns one the right to hand out one of the nights most prestigious awards. It was high comedy seeing her come out between Meryl Streep and Anthony Hokins.
7Well put & on target about Katie Holmes!!! We were all saying "WTF?????" That was ridiculous & a very poor decision on the part of SAG officials (who Tiny Tom probably wrote very big checks to). Shame, shame on them. She didn't even get through her 60 seconds without fumbling & stumbling over words that were too big for her to pronounce!!! OMG. How embarrassing.
8I didn't even consider how much Tom must've paid the SAG some "extra" membership dues for that one. LOL!
9katie's done a lot on her own, so it's not JUST the relation to tom.
just putting that one out there
in any event, i liked the outcome for most of the awards, and i think that it's lovely that kate still won one, and that meryl got the award as well!
10Katie, on her own, has done about the same as Jessica Alba. But I wouldn't expect to see Jessica Alba handing out any Best Actor awards.
I though Kate Winslet seemed more subdued this time but still very happy for her recognition. I liked Sean Penn's speech gave a little nod of acknowledgment to old buddy Mickey Rourke, because I've heard Mickey Rourke is very upset that the press tried to create some adversarial relationship between them that didn't exist. While Sean Penn is one of the most amazing actors of his generation and one of my personal favorites, I still kind of hope Mickey gets the Oscar --just because his GG speech amost made me cry!
11I think you meant "John Krasinski hung out with Josh Brolin and Will Arnett" instead of "John Krasinski hung out with Josh Brolin and Steve Carell."
12I just watched a little bit when Tina Fey got her award, I thought it was funny when she said her daughter puts make up on to look like Obama, so cute
13So happy for Meryl. Katie Holmes looks fantastic.
14The award was predictable but I was rooting for Rourke instead of Sean Penn. I dont even think Ledger was all that in TDK. Katie Holmes looking sexy and classic chic was the hightlight for me.
15The few usual trolls are having the envy meltdown(they usually eat crow for the backlash). Katie has always been an upcoming star in Hollywood but it doubled up with TC. Get over it. Her career is promising, she's a media darling and a fashion darling.
16And people love her.
sorano - I love your pic of John Krasinki. Yum.
17NutmegNice - I hadn't noticed before how much Katie has in common with Mandy Moore. I liked Katie in Dawson's Creek and in Pieces of April but that's it. I've read here her work on theatre is very good.
18I don't know, beeshop. A lot of the media this morning, including standards like Entertainment Weekly, are voicing pretty much the same opinion. LOL.
19And Mandy Moore even did the bob/short hairstyle long before Katie, SpeakLikeaChild! LOL
20Anne and Tina looked beautiful last night! And James Franco and John Krasinski looked hot! Glad that Heath won
21Mandy Moore is not getting any Tony awards buzz Katie is. I see nothing in common.
Katie is so blossoming of late and love her whole look last night.
22Katie Holmes presented? How much did Zany Cruise pay for that to happen? No, she is not "up and coming". Dawson's Creek was years ago. She is now famous for being someone's wife and mother only
23whos' writing now in popsugar? it seems it stopped being unbiased. tone of the write up is very personal. seems to me the writer have something against angelina and brad, because it just won't let up on the "non-issue red carpet interview thing". anyways it's nice to see all these actors together.
