Miley Cyrus made headlines once again this week after another controversial photo of the starlet was leaked on the Internet. Many people are upset about the photo's racist implications towards Asians, so Miley responded to the situation on her fansite. She wrote,

"I've also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, I'm sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context! In NO way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy? It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would of [sic] been anyone else, it would of been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new 'BAD GIRL'! I feel like now that Britney is back on top of her game again, they need someone to pick on! Lucky me!"
This sounds more like an excuse than an apology, so tell us — do you accept Miley's non-apology?
she shouldnt have to apologize at all for those pictures. People need to stop being so PC. she was making funny faces, we have all done it.
1Agreed, CG. This is ridiculous.
2I don't think is that big of a deal as she said she was making faces with her friends.
3Meh, I wish she'd just go away.
4what people are offend by those pictures?? haven't you ever done that face when you were a child? Geez, people...live the child alone
5I just picked no because I hate her goofy faces full stop. I saw this girl on the Golden Globes Red Carpet and I am convinced that she's mentally challenged.
6i think everyone was blowing this picture out of proportion, but it's OBVIOUS that picture was mocking asian-themed facial attributes. everyone in the picture was slanting their eyes except the one guy of asian heritage, you couldn't get more obvious. to me it seemed like she was flat out covering her ass, and making excuses.
for that reason, i'm annoyed that she gave such a half-assed apology and even one at all if she wasn't going to go for it. listening to someone whine isn't cute at all -- this showed me how immature she still is.
7Who cares.
8mack- I agree with you 100%
Ugh! I can't stand her......
9She needs to grow up. Full stop.
10i voted no just because i find her to be annoying lol
11Poor kid. She was just joking around and gets accused of something stupid. They don't even mention the Asian kid in the picture. Was he offended? More than likely not. She was just have fun, She shouldn't have to say sorry.
12It's not even an apology. She's as sorry for what she did as I am sorry that I think she's an idiot.
13damn people feel they need an apology for everything these days, and mentally challenged wtf, i personally cant stand her but to call her mentally challenged, ok.
14When the Spanish bascketball team won the world cup in Japan they took a picture for a magazine making that face and they were accused of racist too. That was stupid then and it is now.Everybody have maken this face sometime so she doesnt need to apologize or have an excuse, it is not something you should regret of.
15But yeah I cant stand her neither.
It's so ridiculous. I don't see any reason for an apology...
16I don't think it was a really big deal. However, don't apologize if you aren't sorry, which she clearly is not. I really can't stand it when anyone, famous or not, makes a half-assed apology. "Sorry it offended you" is not "I am sorry." She's only miffed that people were offended in the first place. I think it would've been better for her PR to ignore the whole thing.
17I agree with Mack2600
I think she is a twit and most likely her parents didn't put much effort into teaching her the history of racism in their country. I'm not calling the Cyrus' bigots, or hillbillies.. but they walk and talk like ducks on moonshine.
18I find it really offensive. The asian community is still mocked in pop culture, and having a teen 'actress', who is adored by millions of teens, make fun of asians in incredibly offensive.
However, a simple acknowledgment of what she did would have made this okay. And, frankly, if she had been in a photo in 'black face,' which IS the equivalent of slanting ones eyes, I think the public would have a MUCH different reaction.
19And @PSS: You really need to fact check. The world cup has never been in Japan. It was in Korea at one point, but never Japan.
And what you are falsing alluding to is the Spanish basketball team slanting their eyes before the Olympics in China.
And no...not everyone has "made this face." No one with class has.
20First of all, don't do the pictures... then no one will will call you a "bad girl". And why is she hating on Britney? Why drag someone else into your mess?? Not a big fan of the teen... she's becoming so annoying. But I agree, there is too much attention on her.
21why should she apologize? people need to stop being so damn sensitive, especially about pictures of situations they weren't in, full of people they don't know!! get a life!
22C'mon, morgs, I don't know how many kids I've seen make that face; on the flip side, I don't think I've ever seen a kid in black face...
23It's just a fun, easy face to make when a kid's trying to look goofy...like sticking your tongue out. I'm sure she wasn't thinking about Asians at all, no offense.
OK, I'm not a Miley Cyrus fan, she is annoying but she has done nothing wrong!
24I did the same thing when I was a kid - am I a racist? NO!
This is OVERpolitical correctness.
I don´t like her at all, but I think people gets offended too quickly for nonsenses and aren´t offended with other important things.
25sometimes it's easier just to apologize. If people think you offended them, then apologize to them. No need to justify. Just say "sorry to those I had offended". =)
26For those of you saying everyone has done this especially when they're kids... I will say that it hurt when it was done to me as a kid and I'm sure it still hurts young kids when it's still done to them by other kids. Sure, kids will be kids but there comes a point when they should learn things like this do hurt other people.
27ok morgs youre absolutely right.I´m sorry. But I still think the same EVERYBODY WITH NO CLASS made this face sometime in their life being child, then I know a lot of people with NO CLASS, maybe because when you are a child probably youre not very classy.
28She's full of it. I hate when people do things and then play dumb about it. We're not stupid.
29WHO CARES
30We'll see how long it'll take before making a silly face means making fun of the disabled. People should understand that she is just a kid. Everybody does this kind of stuff during that time period, even later, it has nothing to do with racism. Besides, there are worse problems in the world than this.
31funny faces are scrunching up your face or crossing your eyes, not pulling them out to the sides to make them slanted.
32i heard there are some far more MATURE pictures of her that were taken recently.....
33hillamaria:totally agree with you. There are worse problems and REAL racism issues to care about than this stupid thing.
34being an asian, i was not offended by her picture. i just see it as kids being stupid. however, even though she didn't mean harm, she should be careful being caught on film because the media WILL spin this into something that it's not. she's looked up to by many kids and she needs to be smarter about how she portrays herself, whether intentional or not
35It's sad that so many of the people who have posted are defending someone mocking another race. Just because some of you did it as children, doesn't mean it was okay then or now.
36ok, yesterday I said Hilary Duff was the youngest celeb with a full set of dentures but this little dingbat is the youngest....good Lord, she can pull a carriage with those choppers...
37These pictures are been blown out of proportion. She was just fooling around.
38But with all that being said.....
She needs to grow up! She's not like every other teen out there who can act dumb whenever they feel like it. People are always watching and looking for her to screw up. If she wants to survive this business, she needs to get her act together.
I dont think anyone should ever have to apologize for making a face in a PERSONAL photo that got sent around the internet.
39I am more offended by her poor grasp of the English language. Isn't Disney paying her enough...can she not afford to have somebody proofread this ish?
40She is a kid. Seriously, you wouldn't apologize to anyone for the things you did as a kid, would you? I mean, unless you're mother theresa and think you need to apologize for playing ding-dong-ditch, or throwing mud at people's cars from trees...
I think she was having fun with her friends, it's a non-issue. If people of asian decent want to get all uppity for something like that and start saying she was being racist, then that's too much. I say this with all honesty that I don't think most white people out there do much to be overtly racist in a lot of places -- and I notice people watch what they say, their tone of voice, how they act just to stop being labeled racist. I think that is sick and disgusting that you can't even make a damn face anymore because you're racist. A cop can't arrest a black person because that's racist. I now can't make a face because I'm being racist. What is next? What about the people who make fun of what people, put white people down, call them names, etc? THAT is not called racist. So why do the tables turn? This country is so f*cked up, I can't even explain.
She is a kid. She is not a racist, she is a victim of yet another couple of people trying to make it seem like they are being attacked and degraded.
Sorry, but that's annoying.
41Does an apology change the fact that she did it? I really dont think it mattered either way
42I agree with morgs and woop.
Just because the Asian kid in the photo wasn't offended, that doesn't mean it can't offend other Asians! Maybe that kid was fortunate to never get teased about his eyes in a negative way -- but my friends and I HAVE, and it hurt very much.
I don't believe Miley or the other kids made that face with a malicious intent. STILL, a kind, empathetic, classy person would be horrified to learn that they hurt someone --especially if they did so by mistake. If you bump into someone and knock them down on accident, you apologize and make sure they are okay... you don't roll your eyes and say, "Ugh. I'm sorry if YOU decided to read too much into that.I was just goofing off, so leave me alone!" -- which is basically what Miley did to the Asian community.
43shes a kid, that's what kids do, whatever. that being said, that's quite the lie - just making "goofy faces"? lol, ah well.
44I would like to clarify one thing: I am not in fact Asian. I am just incredibly offended by this. Even if she doesn't think she needs to apologize, she should still apologize. It isn't hard. Release a statement and move on.
But, for an attention seeker, this is a perfect situation. Miley doesn't apologize, thus pissing people off further, thus garnering more publicity.
45people need to grow some thick skin and deal.
46What a pity that the goofy faces that she and her friends made were/are used to poke fun of Asians. Perhaps if they had made other funny faces, this wouldn't be an issue. She can't be that dense, right?
47" If people of asian decent want to get all uppity for something like that and start saying she was being racist, then that's too much."
Uppity? People voiced their opinion about the picture and now you label them uppity. According to Meriam- Webster uppity means putting on or marked by airs of superiority. It would be more appropriate to use the word when discussing someone who feels their words and actions can not be critized or questioned or commented on.
48"A cop can't arrest a black person because that's racist."
Are you serious?
49what do you expect of an uneducated Disney wh*re
