Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and Jessica Alba came together over the weekend at a luncheon to support V-Day, an organization that works to end violence against women. The event specifically concentrated on the Congo, but the women spoke about Rihanna's recent assault drama as well. Here's what the ladies said:
- Jessica Alba on Rihanna incident: "When things happen publicly, it just makes it a more universal problem that more people can relate to."
- Rosario Dawson on violence: "What's so incredible is the sympathy, courage, love and compassion that comes from [the V-Day cause]. That's what we need to be tapping into and realizing that all of these women, all across the world, are our sisters. [. . .] [I've] met Rihanna a few times, and I think she's such a sweet young lady, and my heart goes out to her."
- Charlize Theron on South Africa: "I was born and raised in a country with similar turmoil. People want to help, but don't know how. This is just the tip of the iceberg."
The recent events with Rihanna have hit close to home with women around the world. Anne has a big weekend ahead of her with both the Independent Spirit Awards and the Oscars — don't forget to fill out your ballot.

My heart goes out to Rihanna as well. I'm glad she has all the support from all the great ladies in the industry.
1charlize is very beautiful
2Yeah, it's kind of hard to stand up for yourself when someone's knocking you down; physically or mentally. And believe me when I say, it's much worst when 'he' has a 'she' to help him. Twice the betrayal. Imagine if it were you... what would you do? You do whatever you can. *but don't be Bonnie for Clyde*
3(not to take away from the worthy cause of this event, but:) in the top right picture, Anne's skin is blindingly pale, Jessica's is a bit on the radioactive side, Charlize's is a perfect in between.
4I totally heart Charlize, Kerry and Rosario! They all look beautiful
5Charlize looks lovely
6i think that this is a cause that needs a voice, and having celebrities fighting for the cause, well that's a good thing. it's just hard when you know that it's even going in out in the public like what happened for rhi - and i hope that she's doing well.
7as rosanne put it! :
8chris brown's lies and excuses
make me want to beat the crap out of him...he uses the language of the perpetrator just like every sleazy bastard who ever smacked his wife, kid mother or girlfriend around uses. you dirty bastard, I hope you go to prison for ten years. IT'S YOUR FAULT, *sshole! as for all the mealy mouthed hollywood and music scene chicks that can't bring themselves to condemn a misogynistic bully, let me say this: your time as wh*res for propaganda is ending, b*tches.
chalize is so cool
9And on a lighter note, I REALLY want Jessica Alba's shoes...
10You go girls. Stay strong Rihanna
11Charlize is a vision of blondeness between the two brunettes.
