George Clooney was a little underdressed for the 12 degree weather in DC when he stood on the White House lawn to give a satellite interview to Larry King last night. The actor was fresh off meeting with President Obama and VP Joe Biden about the situation in Darfur. George just returned from his sixth visit to the area, this time joining reporters such as Nicolas Kristof and Ann Curry. With the President of Chad expected to be indicted for war crimes soon, Clooney sees this as an opportunity for Obama to step up and help the affected regions and the people who are "hanging on by the skin of their teeth." He also presented the President with 250,000 postcards collected by Save Darfur. George lightened things up at the end by joking that he was going to star in a remake of Friends, "playing the Jennifer Aniston role." Clooney takes the topic of Darfur very seriously but always finds a way to appropriately let his inner jokester shine through too.

'Maniston' Clooney... now that makes perfect sense. LOL
1lmao, well I found that joke funny for no reason
2Since America is doing bad right now maybe we can worry
3about the straving people here first and then take care
of Darfur for Clooney. I feel sorry for them but I don't
think this country can afford to take anymore on right now.
We have already donated millions over there. The food banks
in America all need help right now too.
I love a gorgeous man on a mission...........I support him and his efforts in Darfur 100%.
4Claniston 2010
5i love GC - he's always great at getting people to be more aware of things going on in Darfur, and i feel like he can really help recruiting ppl to be more involved.
6What does that even mean?
George you usually do it for me but WTF are you talking
about? That joke made zero sense.
7Some posters seem to think the effort to save Darfur is about getting the U.S. to spend money. The effort primarily forcuses on encouraging folks like us to divest from companies that do business in Darfur.
8Just check your investments. The other issue is to put enough econmic pressure on China so they will also stop doing business with the current Sudanese government. These folks need more than our pity. They need our country to help them rid themselves of a murderous ruler.
poor george, doesnt he know that if the white house doesnt really want to do something, they just send joe biden to appear as if they care?
9George did such a great job diverting attention from himself and stayed focused on the issue. I'm both impressed by his commitment and reminded of the Darfur issue. WOW
10especially we who have short-term memories on issues such as these...

I find it absolutely disgusting that these over paid actors are beating down the new President's door to help those in need abroad when just under their surgically enhanced noses there are A LOT of Americans suffering. When will the botox in their brains wear off and they finally help people in need in their own country. I don't deny there are crisis abroad, but this country is in NO position to help those abroad when they can't help their own. Take off your sunglasses and spread your wealth!
14I am glad that George is spreading the word about the disasterous conditions in Darfur. Yes, America is struggling with its own problems (economy, etc), but you can't close our eyes to genocide. America has problems, but no one is rounding you up and killing you. I think a healthy amount of interest in both - a balance - is so vital.
15he's so hot and more power to him in helping people from darfur cause i'm certain whatever he wants he can make it happen and he has done it before he's a powerful man and he can certainly use his power and connection to do good for people in need , of course china would listen , george proven before that when he is behind something he make it happen and i'm so happy that such a powerful man is so caring to do good for people who are unable to help themselves high five to you george and god bless you.
16Actually George Clooney has a foundation called Not On Our Watch and has contributed his own money to help the people in Darfur.I don't believe he's asking for money, the U.N, has been providing food and essentials to the people in that region. As much as we our down, America is not out, we can still help others.
