poor paula, i think she rocks, event hough she is an alchi
1So, I feel like I need to come to John Travolta's defense. He is trying to protect his son from the media, etc. Depending on his sons level of autism, maybe his son isn't comfortable being "outted" and made the new poster family for autism. This makes me feel for the family, not because i feel sorry for them, but because i have a mentally handicapped sister. I wouldn't trade her for anything in this world, but to have to deal witht he challenges that presents everyday and then couple that with people saying you are a bad parent for not acknowledging your son/dauter's disability publicly? I couldn't deal with it, and why should he have to?
2I feel bad for Paula..
3I agree cravinsugar..
: It isnt any of our business anyways what he does with his
son..
4its nobody's business why he is hiding him, maybe he is protecting is son from being made fun of or starred at, you know our socity now at days, more power to john travolta
5Who gives a flying sh*t that Travolta's son may or may not have autism. Is he supposed to shout it from the mountaintops that his son may have it. Autism is nothing fun or light and if they want to keep it private then good for them not everyone wants to be an advocate for something that might break their hearts.
6They refused to admit to his autism to anyone or be a part of any charity more than likely due to their Scientology beliefs than wanting to sheild him from the public. Since they do not believe in most "disorders" or traditional thearpies they are probably trying to help him with a series of auditing session to try to release the alien souls that are attacking him.
7while the alien thing is funny imabeliever, you just don't understand what they are thinking unless you have a special sibiling or child.
8thank you cravinsugar, no disregards to imabeliever
9While i disagree with Scientology methods totally if they love their child and the child knows it's loved then I think that is all that matters. They don't seem to be as loopy about it as the GMD.
10cravingsugar.. Its not meant to be funny.. it is very well what they may believe as true Scientologist. Scientologist do not believe in autism.. "These celebs reportedly share their frustration with what they perceive as Travolta’s “denial” stemming from Scientology’s rabid hatred of psychiatry and judgment of those with psychological problems as lesser humans responsible for their own maladies."
It is sad that this is what they may believe esp. considering how high a level Travolta is in the church. He needs to have special thearpies and attention to help him function better. The first step being admitting that he has autism and embracing it with love and acceptance like many other families and celebrites do.. especially now that 1 in 150 children born have a form of autism.
11I'ma gonna miss good old Bob Parker!
12I totally agree with pinkprincess, ohilovemybabies, and cravinsugar.
13I'm far less concerned with him choosing not to publicly admit his son's condition than with him refusing to TREAT his son's condition.
14however the Travoltas feel is the best way to handle whatever may or may not be affecting their son is their business, just b/c you are public person doesn't mean every aspect of your life has to be as well
15Imabeliever i understand what you are saying. I have three close cousins that are autistic who are the sweetest most amazing people ever. I couldn't care less it Travolta comes out publicly or not, but the fact that they probably don't treat his autism and just give him audit sessions is frightening. Since they are Scientologist, and live in the the Scientology capital in the world, then I am thinking that they ignore it and don't treat it. And that is wrong.
16I agree with Cravinsugar and I feel sorry for Paula too...gosh those ppl are annoying..we all know they wouldnt like it if that was done to them, noone does when the tables are turned...but i forgot they like to use the ol "its my job" well change it then but apparently not..gosh wont something happen to those freaks!
17I don't think the media wants him to tell the world that his son has autism..they are saying that John ignores the fact that his son has autism because in Scientology autism is looks upon as someone who is less of a person!! Supposedly they ignore their son,and refuse to let him participate in social events. I heard about this years ago..It's actually quite an old story and don't know why people are reporting it again.
18Spicy, they are reporting it again because apparently they have not changed and gotten their son help. Which is sad, because there is so much to help children with Autism now a days.
19I agree that it is very sad!! I just don't think that is going to change their mind about their son. I feel very bad for him and wish that they would at least do something but with Scientology involved, I just don't think that there is any hope for him.
20And she had no problem going to GMA and Montel Williams about his Kawasaki syndrome.. which she was convinced was caused by chemicals used in carpet cleaning. Which is recognized by Scientology. Still she had the whole family go through the Clear Body Clear Mind Scientology treatment to remove toxins from your system. So they will acknowledge problems when there is a scientology funded program to push like CBCM (the same detox treatment that pissed off a lot of NYC fire fighters when they became targeted by Cruise and the "church")or Narconon.. it is a messed up cult with too much power and money behind it and they get away with way too much..
look at the case history of Lisa McPherson and her wrongful death lawsuit.
I am in no way claiming that they HAVE TO PUBLICALLY ADMIT to his condition.. IF in fact it is autism..which only a doctor can diagnose... that is each families personal journey and decision when conforted with autism. But I am highly suspect of them due to their affiliations with a cult that frowns upon therapy, meds, post pardom depression and pushes vitamin and excerise and Clearing treatments to cure disabilities, drug addictions, depressions and mental disorders.
21Well said Ima
22Hey Ima, first off, thanks for your view. I did a little more reading since my last post and now realize i should be a litle angry. first off, IF he is autistic, which a doctor , not his friends, would need to diagnose, then he needs to undergo treatment. But That isn't what makes me mad. I can't believe that scientology believes "people with mental illnesses are "degraded" and capable of curing themselves by working harder on the church's teachings." This is insanity. complete insanity. I will admit, I am super defensive once the subject of disabilities comes up cause of my sis, but this makes me feel sick! I look at people with disabilities as being better than most of us. For one thing, they didn't get a choice, but still they live each day the same way we do. 2nd, most of the special kids i know have bigger hearts, count everyone as a close friend, and love without judgement. none of us can come close to that. i think i am now having a negative view toward all scientology people, although i don't want to.
23Cravin.. I love your statement. Absolutely true!! Here here!!!
24"I look at people with disabilities as being better than most of us. For one thing, they didn't get a choice, but still they live each day the same way we do. 2nd, most of the special kids i know have bigger hearts, count everyone as a close friend, and love without judgement. none of us can come close to that"
well i'm going to go against the tide here and say that it is the travolta's RESPONSIBILITY to go public with their son's disability. and i don't give a crap if he is comfortable with it or doesn't want his kid to be a poster child or not. you know why, because as a parent he owes it to his child to light his way in the world, to open doors and share information with anyone who will listen about what his child's issues are. once you have a child it isn't about YOU anymore, it's about your children. and to deny the severity of their issues or attempt to cover them up is an insult to that child and a slap in the face to every other parent who has a child with that same condition. jett is severely autistic and there is no shame in that. the shame is on the travolta's for acting as if there is by their repeated denials and attempts to excuse his behavior with false explainations. i have a daughter with autism and i talk to scout troops, church groups, neighbors, people at the park (and people here) about autism and what it means to to only the affected child but the siblings and other family members as well. i owe it to her to educate people so that she is treated with respect and kindness and hopefully that they will give others the benefit of the doubt when they see kids behaving in the ways i have described/discussed with them.
and btw, there is a genetic component to autism. so they have about a 5% chance of having another child with autism if they have another biological child.
25i feel for Paula
26Cravin if you think you are against Scientologists now you should read more about them. They are a sick and twisted cult, that pray on on the weak, and injured. I have put this out there before, but if you want a great run down go to youtube and type in "the unfunny truth about scientology" it really will open your eyes to what they are all about. For people who are so against psychology that is what they use against people to control their minds.
27This is a bit off-topic (re: Scientology), but...I don't get the Bublé "story". He struck out? Like, she turned him down? Either it makes no sense or I am having a brain fart.
28em1282, I think Page Six didn't know that Buble and Emily are in a serious relationship, which is weird because aren't they usaully the one breaking stories about celebrity. But I guess this shows how little tabloids know everything about celebrities or the truth.
29AS for Travolta, I don't know much about autuism but I think he is keeping it private because of how Scientology is treating his son; as in they're probably not doing anything medically (sp) to really help him. I think for the sake of his son, he should for once forget about his religion's rules and seek medical attention. It will be better for his son an dteh whole family in the long run.
30Ahhh, thanks pinkflats! I was wondering about that.
Travolta needs to take off the crazy hat for two seconds and think about his son.
31Bob Barker taking the stage for the last time...... God I feel old. It's the end of an era. I grew up watching him on TV (he still had black hair when I was kid!). Kinda gonna be sad without him (even if I don't watch the show anymore).
32Wow! Joey McIntyre is hot! He was my favorite NKOTB back in the day. It's great that he and his wife are expecting. With good genes like theirs, the kid will have to be good looking.
33Congrats to Joey and Barrett!
I was a HUGE NKOTB fan back in the day, and he was one
of my favorites. So weird to say, Joey, since he was actually Joe when he was with the New Kids. I even had an hamster named after him. lol
34Haha Mizmode: I had the Joey and Donnie Dolls haha. I think I still have them haha. They dated barbie.
35i read about this awhile ago and when i read it, i felt the same as you did, cravin. but then i saw pics of jett with john and i realized that for once the tabs may be on to a sliver of truth. the article said that all jett does is eat and play video games. that there is no interaction between his parents and him because they are embarassed to be out in public with him. the pics i saw were of a 14 year old boy who was overweight with a father that was only smiled for the cameras. johns body language was so distant and so stiff, that for a moment i didnt think that was his son. it baffles me that parents can follow a "religion" that can be detrimental not only to ones wallet but to their relationships with their family and friends. i truly pray that kelly's mother instincts kick in and she gets jett the treatment he needs.
36leave the travolta's alone. i am sure if they needed our help they would ask for it.
37paula's phone was leaked?
38She hasn't been diagnosed with Addison's.
She's right and I totally support her. That was a private call and it's not like she said anything outrageous. She was upset. She can talk to her people if she's upset/
39Hey CravinSugar, You know that's one thing that I didn't buy, was the dolls. Probably because of money issues. lol
