Madonna looked young as ever in her Catholic schoolgirl costume on her way to the Kabbalah center for a Purim party in NYC last night. Her new boy toy Jesus Luz went as the Joker, but instead of walking with Madonna, he was on Jessica Seinfeld as Cleopatra's arm on the way to the festivities. On the other side of the country, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were observing the Jewish holiday in Beverly Hills, showing off their priest and nun costumes via TwitPic. The duo were out of costume by the time they left their party, cuddling together in the back of their car at the end of a long night celebrating.

4it's just so funny to me that people consider purim to be like the jewish halloween. i wasn't ever allowed to dress up out of character from the story and i really do know that there aren't nuns, school girls or cleopatra's in the purim story!

13Purim is the celebration of the story of Esther in the Bible. They're dressed up like this because Purim parties tend to be more liberal; you can dress up as anyone in the story: Esther, Mordechai, or anyone else. It's not the Jewish Halloween. This is just a more popularized way to celebrate Purim. Usually, we read the megillah (story of Esther) and make hamentashen...etc.
14summer... you read it like that because subconsciously you feel as though Jessica's previous scandal of ripping off the Sneaky Chef's recipes and passing them off as her own are like the 'arm of Cleopatra': the only leader who learned the ancient language, and homies with Isis- winning over her subjects (played by Elizabeth Taylor)' and comparing it to the way she wooed powerful men who fought beside and for her.
