The Pussycat Dolls just released their video for their version of Slumdog Millionaire's "Jai Ho." The girls' remix is a little more up-tempo than the original, but it's pretty hard to improve on an Oscar-winning tune. So, tell what you think — love it or leave it?

LOVE IT! the first time i heard it i got instantly hooked and couldn't stop listening to it for days haha guilty pleasure
Just like everything else the Pussycat Dolls do, it's trashy. I didn't like the original song, but they could have at least picked a credible artist for the remix.
I didn't think that I would like it, but I do
I don't care for it. PCD are just not doing it for me anymore.
I hate that the industry 'McDonaldize' everything now.
they actually performed this last night at their concert here in NY/NJ and it wasn't that great. i think that they put forth a great effort but it's just not the same when nicole's trying to be authentic
What bugs me is that the lead singer hasn't even bothered to learn how to pronounce it correctly. Every interview I've heard she's calling it "Jay-ho". Ugh.
I like the song. Love it. I just downloaded it yesterday.
agree with emososays! it's so odd that she's not pronouncing it correctly.
I'm so tired of such blatant product placement in commercials. Seriously, do they really need to 20 second cell phone spot? That ruins the entire thing for me.
Pensagrey-definitely agree, I hate that
Why remake or remix it? Was it necessary for there to be an English version? It doesn't sound terrible but I don't get the point. They just seem to be trying to milk as much as they can out of Slumdog's success.
ugh it seems like they cheapen everything they touch.
especially with the stupid product placement
Can't they sing their own crappy songs? Oh sorry, I mean can't NICOLE sing their own crappy songs considering she's the only one that sings.
i dunno about this one...
PCD always manages to make every song and every video look and sound the same. Even the beautiful Indian choreography looks like every stupid move from every generic video they've made. And btw, its not "jay-ho," learn the darn pronunciation.
I love the original but this just cheapens the song. PCD ruined it.
Eh, it's okay.
Isn't it "Jai Ho"? How come it's spelled 2 different ways on this post? I saw this on Perez Hilton, and he says she's not pronouncing it correctly (which is true, and funny she can hear the other singer), and they didn't include the other PCD members when it said "feat." It said only Nicole. Oh, I also don't like this version, lol.... which was my main point =D
I really like this song from the movie so I don't mind hearing it around again!
I agree PensaGrey, why does everything have to be reworked and redone for American audiences. Can't America appreciate foreign culture and art/music/movies? I recently heard that they were going to do a new american version of a really popular swedish film that came out last year, what's that about? Do you guys have to have everything in your own language or what?
I agree with you Frida83. I mean first of all it is kind of annoying how she is not pronouncing it correctly. And secondly, I like the original because it is authentic. I don't see why there was a need to Americanize it. I saw them perform on Live with Jimmy Fallon and the outfits baffled me; yes the fabric was Indian looking but the fact that they were barely covered up at all completely takes away from it and sort of clashes with the whole "Indian theme"
I agree with La Tua Cantane and Frida83 - everyone is on the Slumdog train right now, and the Pussycat Dolls' performance cheapened the song. They are not pronouncing it correctly and they are dressed very trashy (very un-Indian like). For the longest time people thought Bollywood was silly or weird, but now, all of a sudden, people are on the bandwagon b/se it's cool.
I do not like PCD at all. They are too tacky.
I like the song....I don't like their outfits...and it bugs me everytime I hear Nicole say "jay - ho"...as a previous poster mentioned - can't she hear the other singer (AR Rahman)?
I mean - it's the only hindi phrase in the song...and its the title of the song - surely she could have learned to pronounce it correctly!
Oh - also - don't really like the dancing with the exaggerated "indian" finger movements - its so stereotypical and does not look at all graceful...especially mixed in with all their jumping up and down!
That said...I'm still downloading the song...I don't know what's wrong with me - it's hooked me in!
Is it even Pussycat Dolls anymore? It should just be called Nicole and the Other Dolls. This song just got downgraded because of them - oh her!
I love it, I love it, I love it!!! I hope AR Rahman makes a bundle off of it! I'm going to go download it right now!
its nicole and the dolls. again. well, at least AR Rahman is going to make a bomb since there are people digging it. geez, like the rest, cant she even pronounce it right? is it that hard? sheesh.
Never heard the original (guess it is in the movie) or seen the movie, so I have no idea if I like it better or not.
PCD are trash. Much say? The only song that appeal to me from them is "I Hate This Part" because it's soo different from what the usually sing.
it sounds disgusting, not gonna lie.
I didn't like the original song to begin with, but once you add the Pussycat Dolls to the equation...I HATE IT.
There is no need for this. Skimpy outfits, why.
I bought the song only because I love Slumdog Millionaire and and want AR Rahman to get the proceeds he deserves (I only with there was a way to give the money to JUST him and NOT PCD). He is a great composer/musician and I am very glad he won the Oscars for this score . . .
That said, I cringe whenever I hear it pronounced "Jay Ho". If not only for the fact that you can hear how it should be pronounced, it is even spelled that way (Jai) and dude, I can even pronounce it and I am horrible at other languages. To me, pronouncing it correctly is just a respect thing.
**Rant ended**
^_^
I don't see why they had to remake it.
It would be better if they didn't mispronounce "Jai Ho". How utterly embarassing. Why didn't anyone catch it before they released the track and video. Jai rhymes with "sleigh" not "say". Idiots.
Correction. Jai rhymes with "sly"
one enthusiastic thumb down
i hate anything the pcd ever do. bunch of talentless trannies.
Seriously? When she was recording, no one could correct her? This sucks!
It was pretty catchy until I heard the misprunciation and I just can't listen to it anymore!!
wat I dont like in her dress is that its niether purely Indian nor American. The blouse and the long scarf of hers r Indian but the capris and the boots r totally western style....soemhow its doesn't lok good to me....and yes the original song tells about the story of the guy and why has she remixed and changed the whole meaning of the song
