Zac Efron was in Australia last week for the premiere of his movie 17 Again but it's his next project, or former project that is making headlines. He apparently dropped out of the Footloose remake he signed on to star in almost two years ago. The movie is going on without him, though it must be a pretty big blow to lose their leading man.
Zac has come a long way since 2007 and rumor has it that he's ditching the project because he wants to take on more diverse parts. That's understandable, but a lot of people including ourselves, were excited to see him take on the role. So what do you think of Zac dropping out of Footloose — good news or bad news?

Good news. Remaking Footlose is a BAD idea anyway, but if they must do it, I hope they pick someone who isn't that much of a cookie-cutter pretty boy. Someone more interesting. It's nice to see pretty people on TV, but sometimes it's nice to see someone who looks a little more normal
1to be honest, i'm not really all that surprised and upset about it. i think that they shouldn't try to remake the movie anyway, and i'm tired of zac. maybe he does need to take a role that 'dirties' him up a little bit.
2Good new...for one the story won't mix in today's dancing world. Second Zac should be avoiding musicals unless he wants to do them forever.
3I'm usually not a fan of remakes. Original is usually better. I loved Footloose and I couldn't imagine Zac taking Kevin Bacon's role.
4I chose "Don't care" not because I want to see him in older roles, but because I really don't care.
5Why are they remaking Footloose in the first place. Leave it alone.
6Good news, because if we are going to have a Footloose remake shoved down our throats (blasphemy), the actor is going have to at least rival Kevin Bacon in the rough-around-the-edges bad boy cool factor...Zac Efron is NOT that. Ick, ick, ick. If this is going to be forced up on us, do not cheese it up, please, Hollywood cheesy movie machine.
7exactly leave Footloose alone. Stop with the remakes for Goodness sake!
8fabulous news - seriously...original much?!? (Hollyweird)...and he doesn't need to seem any "happier' than I already believe him to be
9I don't care who is in it. I don't even understand the need for a darn remake! Stop with the remakes!!
10Same here, Louie..
11He obviously is trying to breakaway from the teen disney singing/dancing actor bit he has been doing all his career. The naked photo shoot with the boob in his face should show you he wants to do something more adult.
12Footloose is a classic and classic like that aren't to be touched.
How about I don't care about eyelash-batting Zac Efron in general?
13Hopefully, they'll ditch the remake in general.
14I vote for no remake at all.
15how can Footloose be remade?!
16i love footloose and i am just looking forward to the remake, although i'm sure it won't be nearly as good as the first. but now i want to know who is going to take over zac's role...
17Well if they HAVE to remake it... and they shouldn't, it's a terrible, horrible idea!... but if they HAVE to then I do kinda wish Zac was gonna be in it. His angry / confused dance in HSM 3* was practically an audition for Footloose, and it swung me, and I was dead set against it.
(*saw it on a plane, captive audience. That's not to say i didn't kind of like it though.)
